हुंडई i20 एस्टा (ओ)

I will be posting the absolute truth. I had the 2023 model Asta (O) with a sunroof. The car, within a month of buying, was in the service centre for a fuel pump issue. After this issue was fixed, the next issue that came in the 2nd month was the Steering Vibrated vigorously on switching on the AC. Once the AC issue was fixed, the next issue in 4 months was again the fuel pump failing. After this, within 1 year, the wiring of the car went bad, and all electricals stopped working. For this, Hyundai charged me a significant amount, saying it's not covered under warranty. After 2 years, the car's mileage became pathetic. 22kmpl with AC OFF on highway and around 10kmpl with AC ON on highway. Don't even ask about in-city mileage, as it was extremely poor. And the engine performance for a 1.2L 4-cylinder is very poor. It can't even climb a hill without struggling. Finally, I sold the car for a huge loss as its maintenance and frequent defects were eating my savings away. Have moved to Maruti since and am feeling a lot better. I still suggest going for the older i20s as they were absolutely incredible. New ones are a scam.

Buying experience: Purchased through Borah Hyundai, Sivsagar (Assam). Highly satisfactory experience and delivered within 15 days in the requested colour (Amazon Grey). Driving Experience: I took a test drive in the i20, and I knew I would buy it instantly. The car is very refined and smooth; the NVH levels are leading in the segment. The driver-focused premium interior is the biggest attraction of this car. The steering is very light, making navigation effortless in cramped city driving. The transmission does not make you shift gears very often, and you can comfortably sail past speed bumps in third gear at ~700 RPM. The suspension absorbs potholes quite well, but the open highways are where you will appreciate it the most. While not sporty-stiff, there is always ample downforce to hug some crazy corners. A downside on the highway is that you do have to drop a gear to transition from comfortable cruising to a quick overtake - the power delivery is linear, but the 1.2L NA does not feel out of breath, even at very high speeds. Like me, if you are coming from years of driving a turbo-petrol or diesel, you will be slightly disappointed in your first few hundred kilometres of highway driving, but the car grows on you pretty quick! Mileage: I get around 12-13 kmpl in peak city traffic, 16-17 kmpl in aggressive highway driving, and 19-20 kmpl in cruising in the 80-90 km/h speed range. Features & Comfort: The Bose sound system in this car is undoubtedly the best at this price point, the infotainment is smooth and responsive, and the voice control is accurate. While the Asta (O) manual does not support wireless phone projection, the bluelink system with its inbuilt navigation and intuitive media player do the two most important things for you - music and maps. I find myself never using CarPlay unless I have my wife with me (she likes scrolling music on the screen). The seats are very comfortable, even on long drives, the leg room at the back is impressive! Most people do not realize that this car has a longer wheelbase and is wider than its cousin, the Venue! Servicing and maintenance: My 10K kms servicing did not cost anything apart from the standard oil and filter prices. Will update annual maintenance costs once free services are over. Pros 1. Premium build and up-market feel - best in segment. When you sit in the cabin, you realize it's a ten lakh well spent. 2. Comfortable in both city and highway conditions. 3. Eye-candy! 4. Very feature-loaded. Cons: 1. Mileage compared to its rivals 2. Stock headlamps feel underpowered 3. No 360-degree camera (if you care about it)
