Ford has added one more hatchback to its portfolio, offering car buyers more options in the budget segment. Based on the Figo, the Freestyle is a compact crossover hatchback which sits a little higher and looks tougher.
The Freestyle gets a hexagonal mesh grille and sculpted bumper with blacked out lower half and few elements to distinguish it from the regular Figo hatchback. The vehicle gets bumper mounted fog lamps, roof-rails with blacked out wing mirrors. It also gets all-around cladding for the crossover SUV looks along with a stripes that run along the doors for sportiness.
The upholstery seems to have gone the new EcoSport way and will further feature a new floating 6.5inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system. The system will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with Ford's SYNC3 connectivity system. Since it is the Figo shell, there is enough place for three in the second row while the passengers in the front are also seating comfortably. In terms of safety, you will get dual airbags in the front as well as ABS as standard fitment.
Under the hood, the upcoming Figo Cross is available in petrol and diesel engine options. The vehicle gets the all-new 1.2-litre Dragon series petrol engine which is expected to generate about 90bhp of power. The diesel variant is offered with the existing three-cylinder 1.5-litre Dragon engine that generates 100bhp of power. Both the engines will be available with a five-speed manual transmission.
he Ford Freestyle, with its pricing, competes with Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 and offers a rugged SUV-ish option in that segment.
