After driving the Jeep Compass Diesel for over 70,000 kilometers, I can confidently say it’s one of the most well-balanced SUVs in its class. It’s one of those rare cars you connect with every time you get behind the wheel, something that’ll be truly missed once it’s gone, much like the Polo or the Endeavour. Already driven to Ladakh, Spiti Valley, and countless long highway runs. Pros Outstanding Driving Dynamics: Compass feels rock solid at any speed. Its stability on highways and control around corners give a real sense of confidence. Great Handling & Braking: The steering is precise and responsive, and the braking performance inspires total trust, especially during high-speed drives or sudden stops. Comfort & Build Quality: The suspension is tuned beautifully for all types of roads, soaking up bumps while maintaining composure. Inside, the cabin quality and comfort levels are genuinely premium. Performance: The 2.0L Multijet Diesel engine delivers effortless power and torque, making long drives a pleasure. Fuel Efficiency: Despite being a heavy SUV, the mileage figures are impressive, easily in the range of 18-22 kmpl on highways, better than expected for its size and segment. Perfect Dimensions: The Compass strikes the ideal balance, not too big for city driving, yet big enough to command presence on highways. It’s easy to maneuver and park while still offering that SUV stance. Good Delivery Experience: Jeep’s dealership experience during purchase and delivery feels truly premium. The handover process was smooth, professional, and left a lasting positive impression. Cons Higher Upfront & Maintenance Cost: You do pay a premium — both for buying and maintaining it. Limited Service Network: Jeep’s service reach in India is still smaller compared to mainstream brands. Slightly Compact Cabin: Overall space isn’t as generous as some rivals in this price bracket. Missing Features: The lack of cruise control in a car costing around ₹30 lakh is disappointing. Verdict The Jeep Compass Diesel isn’t just a car, it’s an experience. With its tank-like build, unmatched driving confidence, and all-around capability, it stands as one of the most engaging SUVs to drive in India. Yes, it comes at a higher price and upkeep, but the way it drives makes every kilometer worth it.

Performance is above my expectations

A great vehicle, the performance is above my expectations, i have been using this car for the past 7 years, no major issues reported, the engine performance is still the same as the day I bought it, agreed that the maintenance cost is high compared to other vehicles in this price range, but the engine and the driving experience makes it up to you by delivering staggering performance, rear seats can get a bit cramped while sitting 3 adults, but they are not bad. The vehicle is very stable at high speeds, such as 180 and above, with very minimal vibrations at such high speeds, and you can trust your brakes even at such speeds. Jeep did a good job of braking. Overall, no issues with the car, very satisfied with the dealership and the vehicle.
