Hello everybody,

Had a long break on this thread. No specific reasons, but had a trip to Goa.

I could get the mileage of about 18.4 kmpl in all with my Fab this time.. Lot of off road driving, in the countryside of Konkan- Rajapur, Deogad, Vengurla etc.

Have got the music system- Pioneer DEH 4390 fitted before that.. It cost Rs.6000 to me (+ Rs.600 for the couplers/ adapter etc.) still haven't purchased the rear speakers. Want to know about that also from our friends on this thread..

Can I get sub woofers fitted directly in stead of the speakers at the rear??

Keep writing,

Regards,

Dear Dr.Vikas,

Nice to hear from you. So what was the max speed you went? rear speakers are a must as the people behind keep insisting on raising the volume. I am also on the lookout. By the way have you checked your tyre pressure in between? And what is the requirement as per spec?

Regards

Hey all-

I am more or less convinced to go for the Ambiente TDI as my running on an average is about 60km per day. The most imp. thing which is still holding me back is when ever i talk to family and friends about the fab.- i have always been adv. not to buy for the spares and After sales service apsect of Skoda.

On a figurative terms has any one in this discussion panel found out how much has the cost of spares been slashed by for regular items????? or its just the cost of price that has been reduced because of truncations of accessories.

Hi Suresh,

I achieved the max. speed of 165 kmph & to my surprise the car was moving quite smoothly & the steering was also stable without any rattling at that speed... no one of the occupants can even notice about the speed. You may follow the thread 'Top speed achieved...' in this forum only..

The detailed chart about the required tyre pressure is given on the inner side of the Fuel lid.

I usually get the tyres inflated up to 32 - 33 mark (& 35 for the spare wheel)... BTW, once when I asked the works man at the company workshop to check the tyre pressure, he deflated the pressure to 28 .. that ultimately caused substantial fall in the pick up/ speed & I had to get the tyres inflated again!

Please find the photo of the Odo of my Fabia on page 6 of this thread only. You can notice the speed at 160 kmph here, as I just removed my foot from the accelerator when the photo was taken by my nephew...

Regards,

superb road presence

driveability

ultimate handling in highways n even corners well

compact vehicle

ABS is good

mileage- 21.6kmpl on highways, 16.8 in cities.

seat posture is in a commanding way...

i love this car among hatches.

only drawback is engine sound like a tractor...bt te cabin seals it completely. thn its outsiders who r goin to suffer...

BTW guys, hw is te 1.2 tdi...?

Hi Anil,

If you do plan to install the rear speakers its safest to get the wiring done through the dealer, however please double confirm that the warranty will not get affected or void.

@Dr.Vikas - you can surely fit a subwoofer however it will not serve as a replacement for rear speakers. My suggestion is that you go in for some really good round speakers that fit into the rear doors and avoid the sub woofer. The sub woofer will eat into your boot space.

Hey Kunaal,

thanks for the detailed reply. This does clarify lots of queries on cost of spare parts. Has any one in the forum taken the bumber to bumber insurance for the car- if yes which co. and what cost did you get it for?

I plan to pick up the car soon

Dear Dr.Vikas,

That was great to hear you touched 165 ! I went upto 120 but was afraid to push for more. The vehicle was  edeging me to go for it !

And thanks for tyre pressure details. My dealer was also telling me 28 but the current tyre pressure is 32.

Thanks Kunal for the details.

Dear Gursheetal - I think that is a good option. I knew about that but forgot that during my purchase. The dealer promised me to come back on the details but is yet to respond.

Hi all,

Nice to see so many posts on this thread during last 2-3 days....

@Kunaal

This thread is yours & you are really taking so much efforts to update the info.. Thanx a lot!!

Very soon I am going to get the rear speakers fitted.. now obviously, some good round ones!!

@ Nidhinsarath

If I am not wrong, your fabia is 1.4 TDI, the older version.. Man, the mileage you are getting is really beyond expectations..

In fact, I didn't purchase the old Fabia only b'cos of the concerns regarding its noisy engine- (tractor like sound) & low mileage!! I would have surely gone for it, if convinced about the mileage you are getting.. Sound won't mind as it's total silence inside once the glasses are up!!

The New Fabia has got totally new engine i.e. 3 cylinder 1.2 CR (same as of VW- POLO's), power added by 6 bhp & noise is reduced noticeably.. not that much now...

Anyway Fabia is Fabulous!!

Regards,

dear friends its very nice see lot of your reviews on new skoda fabia

yes after test drive, its quite impressive in all the departments when you compare with any other car in the segment. now my friend is looking to buy the car and banking between NEW SKODA FABIA and FORD FIGO.

my choice is 100% FABIA, but only concern is about the SERVICE COST and SPARES COST

i request all the FABIA owners to share thier experience on these issues and finally suggest with your opinion on which car to buy...

i LOOK FOR YOUR QUICK REPLY ON THIS

Thank you...

Rkrish

hi rkish,

If you see page 8 of this forum - kunaal has given detailed drop in prices of the spare parts. I was in skoda dealership today and got the same impression about the spare costs. The main reason for reduction of prices is that 50-60% of the spares are locally manufatured now- rather than importing them and paying high import duties!!!!!

I too was closing out on the figo earlier- but i was totally disappointed with the quality of plastics used in figo!!! no doubt that figo has a great engine!!!!! but fabia scores a lot in built quality- interiors and boot space- figo is again a mass car- fab- will be a different feel!!! Fabia comes in the premium hatch back!!!!---

My suggestion- go for the Fab- let others in forum also give their views!!!!

Cheers

@ Gursheetal & all,

I am reprinting one of my post (dated 15th Dec.) on the Skoda Fabia India page of Facebook here.....

Few days back, I had a call from Sales Manager, west zone. He refreshed my info regarding issues like ASS & costly spares etc. He told me, Skoda has sacked down few dealerships with having complaints from the customers especially regarding service! And he further added these days many of the spares are manufactured at the plant at Chakan, near Pune.
Coincidently the very next morning, when I was vacuum cleaning my car, I found some parts like the rear seat, seat belt pretensioner knobs/ latches, electric harness (wiring) etc. labelled as 'Made in India'.... (uploading the photos on this page)
Hopefully, Skoda'll expand the range of spares in the near future that are 'indigenously ' & you will find the spare prices coming down reasonably....

Now this label 'Made in India' can surely relieve at least some concern of Fabia buyers, both..... present & proposed also!

Regards,

Hello Everybody,

Have you ever had seen any car driven for quite a long distance with the hand break on?

Yes, I had seen one at a Maruti workshop, which was driven for 60 kms!!!

Don’t worry; this won’t be going to happen with your Fabia…

Last week, when I started my Fabia with the hand break on, I engaged the gear as usual & moved a little distance, immediately within few seconds a warning signal - 'bip.. bip..' started! I noticed the 'Breaks on indicator' in the instrument cluster & so, I could get the hand break released in no time....

Has anybody ever noticed the same?? ... even in any other car also, kindly share.

Regards,

Dear Dr.Vikas,

Its good to get these  small but important info on the fabia..looks like you keep experimenting a lot.

Dear Gursheetal - yes I have picked up the 1.2 TDI and I am enjoying every minute of my drive. Frankly I am not able to find any negetive points on the Fabia.

Dear Rkrish - Both are good cars and have their pluses and minuses. I dont like the shape of Figo and the car I had taken the test drive has a red coloured dash board which looked very odd. If price is a factor then you should go for Figo. Fabia is in the premium hatch category. Skoda says dont come to the workshop ! Anyway they are increasing their service network and there is a 24x7 support for any trouble on the road. Ford services are also not that cheap if you compare Maruti and Hyundai.

dear friends thank you all for sharing lot of information on fabia.

the final price offered by skoda dealer for new skoda fabia - ambient diesel was 685000/- on road without accessories, without extended warranty, without onroad brakedown facility. how do you feel about this price ??

now we just standing at a junction of NEW SKODA FABIA price already given above, FORD FIGO TITANIUM this is the higher end on road offer is 6,40000/-. Maruti ritz VDI BS 4(ABS) on road offer 6,30000. HYUNDAI I20 CRDE price not taken yet. please give your final thought on it keeping the main thing of maintenance and spares cost....

sorry for troubling you lot on this, we are just going to take a decision on next 2 to 3 days

Best Regards

Rk,

maintanence wont be a problem for fabia...its a tough vehicle..but A.S.S is the worst...even the spare parts are also very costly...but i dont know whether they had reduced the cost...but service is worst...

Dr. Vikas and others,

I checked with dealer and he confirmed that digital Speedo meter showing much information like KMs to empty, average consumption or other things are only available in Elegance and not in Ambiente or Classic. Is it true?

You are also requested to post few interior pictures of your Ambiente / Classic. I have seen Elegance as they offer top model for test drives.

Last request, although carwale comparison is more than sufficient but are there any others features which are missing in comparison.

Please revert asap

Thanks

Shailender-

Its true that the features like- to change gear- which gear to drive and km's to empty etc like features are only in the Elegance(Top end model)- The Ambiente tells you the time/trip meter/when is the car due fro service-i.e in terms of days and Km's etc.

Ideally the basic things are there in ambiente- The Classic or the lowest model has full dash coulr black- not too impressive- no power windows etc--- Hence on a economical sense you should go in only for ambiente or Elegance-

The extra featues in ambiente are: All four power windows/ABS/Passanger Car height adjustable/Allow wheels/Fog lights/4 air bags/additinal details on speedo meter/ Auto lock key for doors etc...

According to me the basis version of Fab does not make any sense- stretch for the Ambiente or Top end- I have gone for the Ambiente!!!!!!

Check this site for detailed feature diff. in all three models-

Cheers

@ Shailinder

Your concern regarding the digital speedo is true. The detailed info is available only in Elegance & not in Ambiente.

It's true, they usually make the Elegance available for TD.

One more thing that will certainly disappoint you, all the features what Gursheetal claimed to be there in the Ambiente are NOT provided with the New Fabia 1.2 TDI. Though they were previously available there in the old Ambiente 1.4 PD!! So it looks, he has followed the feature list of the OLD Fabia & not of the New one. Even the site he has mentioned must not be updated after the launch of New Fabia 1.2 TDI....

So now, you won't need to check it again for all these features in Ambiente!

Actually the OLD Fabia Amb. was really loaded, whereas this NEW one lacks many of those, just to cope up with the price cut! The only good news that followed this new launch is Skoda has cut there spare prices & even the service charges substantially down!! And that is for sure, don't worry....

Even the rear wiper is not provided in the New Amb. And to my surprise, the reverse indicator light is provided on one (? Driver's) side only & on the other side there is a fog lamp in stead....

Keep writing & Happy driving....

Hi all,

I had a technical problem in posting this table along with the matter at once..

Anyway, see the month wise total sales figures..

Try to understand how the sales are showing + ve & - ve swings & who is getting the benefits..

And also notice the increase in sales after the launch of New Fabia!!!

For further details (Dec. '10 sales) follow the link given below

Dear Gursheetal and Dr. Vikas,

Thank you for your inputs but I know all about new and old Fabia and what all has been changed

I have a very specfic query, like all though the comparision available online (carwale). Are there any more features which are present in Elegence and not in Ambiente / Classic. See Classic is all BLACK interiors + 1 airbag and Ambiente is Beige + 2 airbags + front power window and that is it. Rest - AC, Rake and reach steering wheel, Power Steering is common in all three varients.

So paying roughly, 55K extra for Ambiente is not makring any sense to me. Beige interiors are prone to get dirty early due to Indian atmosphere (we all agree on this - I guess).

So please help me with specfic difference between Classic and Ambiente. I will buy Classic if there is not much of a difference or else Ambiente is there are

Help me guys. And post some pictures of Ambiente's speedo meter (close up), dash board and long short from back seat.

Thanks

@ Shailinder,

To be frank, I didn't focus much on the Classic, as I was looking for some higher/ premium version. And in fact it was the Jazz for which I was thinking before Fabia (& almost done) if I had gone in Petrol version. Now after the repeated petrol price hikes, I don't regret my decision & much happy with my Fabia 1.2 TDI.

Grossly speaking there is no much difference in the Classic & Ambiente, only there are few cosmetic changes. Besides the black or biege interior, I can recollect some more of those -

open glove box (upper side), height adjustable Driver's seat, some chrome here & there around the vents/ gear shift knob etc, Passenger Airbag, Front power windows, all Black skoda monogram on steering wheel, quality of fabric upholstery....

You really need to check it of your own at the dealer for all these small things & then compare amongst, considering the opinion of your family members also.. Even I still sometimes think that Elegance could have become a better purchase for me.. (though there is a difference of Rs.100k!!)

So don't wait anymore, that will create more confusion,

All the best!!!

i feel more research will lead to more confusion....always

1. new skoda fabia is a nice car to buy...so decide on this first

2. i strongly feel that either choose the option of going for classic or elegance. there is no meaning to go for ambiente...it is a half roti

You are right rkrish. I also believe the same. I love Skoda Fabia because of interiors and road presence but due to lack of features and price tag I have started exploring other cars like. Punto Emotion, Figo Titanum, Polo etc (all Diesel). See my budget is upto 6 lakhs and I need some good features in this budget. Figo is under 6 lakhs and with all the features only rear power window is missing. Whereas, in other cars something major is missing.

Not sure what to do?

@shailender

I hope i will end your confusion right here and you will proceed with your final decision

1. Punto is loaded and good car, but the pricing i feel bit high and also maintenance is very high when i have seen this practically with my friends, hence this is ruled out

2. VW polo, ok good german tech car, but with the budget of 6 lakhs please do not think of buying this car as a person buy this should be ready for anything it comes up after buying, i mean for service or spares cost which will be very high. the biggest problem with them is they are not fully established them selves in india yet after launching this model, they got those sales numbers but also many problems also, so as a simple rule that when ever something is introduced first time in a new country it takes easily 2 to 3 years for them to settle down, so it is not a good option to go for this as a budget customer like you and me. this will not be so affordable

3. coming to ford figo titanium. me and my friend drove this car last week i got following findings

first of all i laugh at the thing that y this is choosen as best car of the year, i feel this may be a scam. becoz there is nothing much great about this. people say it is fully loaded what is mean by fully loaded they mean a stereo enough, front power windows, and funny thing is rear windows open only 60% and they say that it is child safety, i really laughed at it, becoz the car design is wrong on the back door, there is no scope for window glass to go inside fully, hence they say it is a additional safety feature...hahaha. other things of this car, where it is cheaper titianium diesel comes for 6.4 L after discount and bargain and i feel this car is not worth of such money. the plastics used on dash board or not at all good, what is fully loaded even this cannot come with stearing controls.?? and the seating looked as same as other low height cars...sitting inside a box..no comfort..no tilt stearing and it is not very responsive or power full when you drive this in 2nd gear and ground clearance is not good...and i really dont know y people r buying this useless car for such price. yes FORD FUSION was a very great car unfortunately it is withdrawn from indian market due to poor sales. and also FORD FIESTA is also great car but you need to increase ur budget, so according to me no fun in buying this car

at last i have two options for you

1. if you want a nice space and very good finish and german engineering, then go for NEW fabia either classic or elegance. i prefer classic becoz for those all features in elegance, i am not ready to pay 2 lakhs more. but when you look at it from outside the car is the same and people dont say this is classic or elegance..they say wow its skoda fabia..ok on their stability in india, in initial years they too had similar problems like vw polo, but they are streamlined now and their spares and service has came down drastically by 50% and also sales service outlets increased. so you can just go for this car...now problems..and regarding the driving feel and comfort none other car i liked over this.

2. if you are careful about budget and service cost, then go for RITZ this is a VFM car with good space inside and you can get this car for 5.8 with bargain..good mileage, service back up,cheap spares, easy to maintain....

hope i made things clear for you and wish all the good luck...for your new car decision

regards

Ramakrishna reddy

Rkrish,

I have a difference of opinion here and would like to tell you that most of the rear window in present day hatches open up to 60-70% only. You check Fabia, Punto, Polo, Figo or Vista etc.

Secondly, ground clearance of Figo is 168mm, Punto is 171mm and Fabia 158mm. So it is higher then Fabia. You check any site and you will find people going GA GA about Figo non existence turbo lag, which makes this car a very good city car.

Yes, Polo, Punto and Fabia are sturdy cars in comparison of Figo but Figo is not far behind. Figo offers, keyless entry, stereo with blue tooth connectivity and you can make / receive calls, ABS with EBD, dual airbags, front power windows, Premium seat fabric on top end version, rear washer / wiper, defogger, parcel tray and what not.

In fact, Punto Emotion offers ABS with EBD, keyless entry, stereo, front and rear power windows, rear washer / wiper, defogger and parcel tray.

Whereas, Fabia Ambiente has dual airbags, front power windows, parcel tray and that’s it. As far as budget is concerned in Delhi Figo is roughly around 5.85 lakhs without any discount. For Fabia and Punto I need to stretch a little.

It is impossible to win the race unless you venture to run, impossible to win the victory unless you dare to battle.

dear Shailendra

I agree with you observations, where i many not have gone thru' somany details of ford figo and the prices may vary from city to city.

i have given my first hand experience of driving figo and my feel about the same

at given details of these all the cars i vote for new fabia in terms of all aspects. more importantly it is a pride on the road to sit and drive such beautiful finish german car.

Hi friends,

You people didn't comment my post on the sales figures of last 3 months...

Fabia sale has gone up by 1097 nos. (1853 - 756) in 3 months, whereas Figo has come down by 5538 nos. ( from 7419 to 1881).

BTW, do you still need to consider Punto even after it's poor show???

That's the major change observed in the market after the introduction of New Fabia! No need to explain or understand the meaning of all that....

In simple words, New Fabia is emerged as a better option in this segment ....

Survival of the fittest is a law of nature, and it can be applied over here also ...

@ Shailinder,

I test drove Fabia (old) first in Mar. '10, took my time to have a test drive each & every hatch not only once, again tested the New Fab twice before coming to the final decision!!! Then only purchased it on 20th Oct.'10 & now very happy with my decision & with my car also....

IMP- Don't forget your family members while the test drive, they also can add their valuable observations & make it easy for you to decide....

Best of luck once again...

hi Dr. Vikas,

I am also planning to get my new Fabia Elegance from Shrine - Kolhapur. How has the A.S.S being so far? how much discount did he give or additional accessories he provided? how much did he quote for ex showroom? he said 6.54 ex showrrom for Elegance. I am planning to register the car in Karnataka - Belgaum. how much did you pay for insurance & road Tax??? RT in Karnataka is almost double of Maharastra

@ kk9974,

Congrats on your purchase & welcome to the thread... Fabia is fabulous!!

The mileage you are getting is great.. though there is still a scope for doing a little better .. and with some experience you will certainly have much pleasure & satisfaction in driving Fabia..

Enjoy your Fab & happy driving ...

@ shreya,

I paid about 5.73 to Shrine, did the Comp. Insurance of my own with Bajaj Allianz, (appr. for 20,687 with Drive assure, but without Extended warranty). But in my opinion, one should always have the extended warranty, as it gives a little more security & assurance! I got my vehicle registered at Sangli RTO ...  (I'll elaborate later about the Reg. charges in details.)

The registration charges in Maharashtra are 7% of the Invoice price, whereas in Karnataka it is 14%, if I am not wrong... So get it checked before your final decision...

The ASS at Shrine Auto is quite good nowadays. Though there are people finger pointing at the service of Skoda, my experience with the dealer is much better in all aspects.

In fact, I had to go to the workshop also for minor problem/ queries twice, they attended & helped me quite satisfactorily .. So, IMHO, there shouldn't be any problem for you to go ahead with Shrine ... All the best!!!

Keep writing & sharing info...

hi dr. Vikas!

thanks for the info! I am going out tomorrow to check out the price, discounts & accessories being offered in Bangalore(although ll buy it from Kolhapur only) Also can I get the insurance done from Belgaum(Kar) as insurance in Kar is cheaper compared to Maha? whilst registration is double cause of registration I might end up paying 40-50k more :S

Also wanted to ask if the parking sensor is of any help??(I mean absolute necessity?? makes things very easy??) and how much will he quote for it?

I am not able to choose the colour also as my wife does not want white & shes more interested in black.. I like the red but just wanted to know if colours fade after 3-4 yrs & if white is the best???

Hi shreya,

I am sure red colour will not fade atleast in Fabia, since all Skoda cars come with paint warranty.

How about beige colour ? It is actually not beige like beige interiors but very top class colour as such.

hi  shreya,

there is lot of confusion in colour  choice.my wife was also in favour of white color but as we gave two colors (white and c. beige)for option,c.beige was only available at the time of delivery and we had it.FORTUNATELY, everybody appreciated it.Though my wife has not allow me to take out the white tape from bonet and roof as she likes  white the most.

FAB LOOKS FAB -ULOUS IN C.BEIGE.

Hi Everyone..

@ Dr Vikas : was travelling so have been out of action.. Nice to see so much activity on the thread ,

@ Shailinder: Well its a complete Deja Vu reading about your decision making process. I went through the exact same transition. I had almost booked a Figo diesel Titanium. Just then a friend strongly recommended that I test drive the Fabia before taking the final call.

The Figo is a great car, it may not enjoy the premium tag of the Fabia but then its not even pretending to be in the same league. Things changed for me the moment I sat inside the Fabia. It just felt so much more grown up than the Figo, however I still feel the power delivery of the Figo diesel is a lot more linear compared to the Fabia.

Other than a small turbo lag (which is no big deal in the city) I have absolutely no complaints with my car. I first decided to buy the Classic variant - power windows at least in the front were an important factor to me so I upgraded to the Ambiente.

Another thing - My Ambiente does feature a gear change indicator on the instrument cluster.

All the best.

Hi Kapil,

Congrats.. C Beige is a very elegant colour

hi mr kapil

let me give some suggestions of choosing the fabia colour . i personally thought of folowing reasons...i have a candy white fabia now 2yrs+.

1. white looks cool and i ll say really cool not just for looks but i swear even during summer months.( rule of physics..white reflects).i found that if you just keep the window glasses little bit down and park it ( for hot air to go out) you will further decrease the heat build up inside the car. make sure you have rain guards fitted in case if it rains/rainy days. i have a red wagon R and despite the same measures  it remains terrible hot- as if i am in a hot oven.

2. in case you drive in highways or night white always helps-safety first- as otehr vehicles can see you better.

3.it is easy to maintain and repair from scratches/ dents.  the paint quality used in our fabia is top class. even today many of my friends thinks i bought it few months back. compare it with any other white colours cars in the market today and might be after few yrs..

3.the overall contrasts/ character of the car stands out in white.

4.finally you feel in full peace in white...ha...ha...

this is not to offend other friends in the forum who have choosen the other colours. might be they have their own reasons,..please do add...

@ Kunaal saigal,

thanks for your appreciation.because of this thread today FAB is one of our family member .

@Hello Dr. Vikas,

thankyou for your reply.please give me some tips to get more mileage.

i would like to know that when i start my car a sound KA-AR use to come just for a second ,is it with all these cars or there is some problem in mine only.

before, i was driving U-VA and its cabin was super silent.but in fab sometimes  i feel cabin noise is more .Is all diesel cars have  such noise?

@hi Dr. Pakha,

i am not against white color. My first choice was white but it was not available.so i had my second option c-beige and this color is GREAT in itself nodoubt.

@ hi anshuman,

within aday or two , i will definate send you some beautiful photos of my beautiful fab.

Hi All,

thanks for all your inputs & feedback! really happy to hear from you all.

this weekend we are going to decide the colour & book the car

however the TDI Elegance is crossing my budget of 7.5L also taking a look at DZire & Manza..

I know these are totally different segments all together but would just like to TD them once..

Any idea how the Fabia will perform against these two??

and how has the highway experience been so far?? is Fabia passed by Sedans or it holds it own on high speed ???

Cheeers!!!!

Fabia will out perform or under perform but it depends on you. They are from two different leagues, Manza and Dsire themselves are from different league.

TD them and you will understand what i am saying. Difference is what you want to see in them rather than anything else.

@ kk9974,

IMO, getting good mileage is a result of your driving style & fuel quality you use for the vehicle!!

Now, fuel quality is not at all in our hand, but anyway with adoption of some tips, one can practically get better mileage.. I would suggest you a link of such an article, you may follow it for the tips-

@ Shreya,

Don't get confused..

First you decide about the segment which suits your requirements- practically... Do consider the opinions/ views of your family members.. And then plan your budget accordingly...

One can't replace the car very often (under normal conditions), so be focused on what you really need & then think about which options you can have...

Hi Guys

Dont know if this post belongs here or not. But I am not sure too many Fabia owners may be tracking other threads..

Getting delivery of my Fab in 2-3 days. Payment has been already done and registration process just started.

I havent been able to get any reduction in any price anywhere (jncluding depot handling charges of 4k). however the dealer has agreed to fit the accessories for me even if i dont get it from him.

I plan to get rear speakers and rear parking sensors fitted. The dealer has said that their listed accessory is JBL GT5 S265. My doubt is that I read that the impedance is 4 ohms for these speakers, so will they work fine with the standard HU or do I need to shell out more for an amp.

A quick response will be great!!

Hi Anshuman,

hey, I'm not a experience person in this matter but I had comeacross a very similar query. In that case the person was hesitant in installtin speakers having 4ohms and the standard (or the one compatible with music player) was 2ohms. It could be vice a versa also. But the conclusion was that the difference of 2ohm does not hamper either player of speaker.

Still beeter to have an expert advice in such, lets see we have anybody here to answer your query with confidence.

Miles to go.

Hi Guy,

happy to inform that i got the delivery on friday of my Fabia (White, TDI ambient)

done 200kms in city so far.most of it was take on small rides to lot of close freinds and relatives.

very excited .the city ride is very smooth with lot of ease and comfort, no pot hols are experienced atall.

the adjustable steering gives really a different feel to the drive.

lot of people who sat in as every one wanted to have a look in, from my office any from my family .all were impressed on the steating comfort, leg room, interiors and the ride quality.

White colour really makes the car as richness personified.

i discovered that the car has gear shift indicator that was a surprise.

will update once i come from a long drive trip.may i will be going to mahabaleshwar in next 10days.

Hi Mohsin,

Congratulations for the new Fab you got in Feb!

Actually I'm bit confused between the Petrol Elegance and Diesel Ambient models, since the difference is about 25K on road prices in pune. As some of the basic features like music player, rear power windows, ABS, etc. are not available in Ambinet version, I'm not sort of fully satisfied with Ambient. But when it comes to FE, I think I should go for Diesel Ambinet rather than fully loaded Petrol Elegance, because I heard the TDI gives too good FE. Good to know that you got Ambient, now I can clear some of my dounts with you.

Please share all your experiences with us, whether you miss any Elegance features in your Ambient.

Miles to go.

@ mohsinsFAB,

Congrats on your purchase!! No doubt, it's a very good decision...

It's a fact that many of the prospected 'Elegance- petrol' buyers are shifting towards 'Amb- TDI' model. And that's quite obviously because of the regular hikes in the petrol prices. But that couldn't be the only reason. In fact, Fabia TDI has now proven its ability & quality in every aspect- ride quality as well as engine performance. Comfort in Fabia is always at top class in its category.

My Amb. TDI is giving FE of about 20 kmpl with A/C on to me & that's going to be improved for sure as I am going to install a good quality Sun films all over (4 windows & both wind screens as well) this week.

I'll share my exerience in details very soon..

@ Nakum,

No need for you to be getting confused here. Just follow a simple theory- if your monthly running is a bit on higher side (say 1200+ kms), blindly go for a TDI. And if it's below 1000 kms per month, petrol could do the job for you... All other factors are subjective & depend a lot on your personal requirements & thinking etc. All the best!!!

Regards,

Hi

I am about to get delivery of a Skoda Fabia petrol Elegance. Can anyone help out on the following query although this thread is meant for a different fabia variant.

I was quoted the cost of fitting rear speakers as Rs 6k by the dealer (Autobahn Prabhadevi). I got the same speakers from outside @ Rs 2.4k. Initially the dealer had confirmed that they will fit it for me. Now they are saying that the rear speakers fitting charge is 3k. When I confronted them that Vinayak Skoda Bangalore has charged someone Rs 300 recently for the same task, they backtracked saying that Fabia Elegance model doesn't support rear speakers (JBL GT5 S265).

Can anyone confirm or  refute this please?

Rgds

Hi Dr Vikas,

The monthly running thing comes to play only if one is comparing same model for Petrol & Diesel engines e.g. Elegance Petrol or Elegance Diesel because the difference in price among the same varient is huge (90K to 1L). But here difference is only 25K and I dont mind in spending this much if I will get that super 20+ kml FE that too for 42/-Rs a litre of Diesel! Of course I will lose some good features of Elegance, but those are not very essential features except ABS/EBD.

What you think of it?

Hi Anshuman,

Is your dealer fitting the JBL or something like original Skoda accessory (I'm not sure which make Skoda original accessory speaker comes from). Because I can see from the Skoda Inida, New Fab website Accessory list that rear speaker kit costs something around 7,729/-Rs. They dont mention about the vendor, but you should check with the dealer which company speaker they will fit. Also check whether the dealer prvodies the original speaker, in that case I can say that around 6K for rear speaker is reasonable.

But if the dealer is fitting JBL for 6K and the same you are getting from outside, simply go the outsider. Just make sure they install it without cutting the wires and voiding the warranty!

Miles to go.

@ Nakum: I took the same model which dealer was going to fit in my car. he was charging me 4.5k (mentioned 6k by mistake). Even for reverse parking sensors, I got the same model (Xenos) he was going to fit. The dealer quoted 6k plus taxes for it and I got it for 2.8k with warranty.

Hi Nakum'

You are taking it on a wrong note, as choosing a petrol or a diesel variant has nothing to do with the price of the particular vehicle.. It has been discussed many times in this thread only in the past also & people had been benefited with that during their state of confusion..

It's something like normally a diesel vehicle should be preferred by those having more & regular running only; due to its comparatively high maintenance cost & not only because of the basic price difference in the two. As it's quite obvious, with minimal total running (say per year), the benefit in terms of the running cost (cost per km in Rs.) will ultimately be lower. So calculate the comparative plus & minus points & then decide. (Refer to the discussion in the previous posts to get all the doubts cleared)..

I still remember, Dr.Raja from Chennai had same confusion like yours & he eventually ended up in purchasing Petrol variant of Fabia.. Hope you have got the point, I want to make..

Thanks & regards,

Hi Every one-

I have been driving my fabia for a month now and the experience has been outstanding!!!!... The drive feel is just too good.

I was checking the rear a.c vents beneath the front seats- the observation was that the outflow from those vents is very less... is that the experience with other car owners as well???

Cheers

HI

Got delivery of the car today I didn't find any manual/instructions for Beat Music system. Is that normal? The car manual says refer to Music system manual for the music system.

Guess will have to call the dealer and find out tomm.

Hi jamchamp,

I paid Rs.13.5K for 2 sets of 3M complete car kit (RE50 for sides and RE70 for front & rear wind shields). (the otherone for Linea of my friend)...

He had gone to Delhi. I placed the order on phone with Mr.Rajiv, who arranged doorstep delivery at the hotel. It was a very smooth & hassle free deal.. Smile

Had got it installed yesterday only (along with the rear speakers/ tweeters also) at Sangli.

Speakers- Sony XS GTF 1626 (16 cm Coaxial) & Tweeters- Power Bass (sound just ok for my taste)

Paid a sum of 3.7K towards film installation & the audio components in all

Writing about the experience very soon...

 Regards,

I got rear co-axials (JBL s265) but then discovered that the beat music system doesn't have rear pin outs..

sunfilm: should get installed today, planning for V-Kool for sides and rear and maybe 3M for front.. expect package not to exceed 10k (vis-a-vis 15k if i opt for v-kool only)..

Hi Vikas,

I'm too impressed with the new Fabulous Fab1.2TDi. Planning to buy a one. But its going beyond my budget (which is stretchable upto 6 )

I live in Pune and The 1.2 TDi Ambiente is costing 6.7 On road.

They are offerring a corporate discount of 10K..thats it ..SO it is 6.6 on road ( without Music System )

How can we reduce it further ? I mean if we dont opt for Skoda shield and take the insurance from outside rather than the dealer

Please guide.

Regards,

Anant
