        Specifications

        • Engine & Transmission

          • Engine
            1596 cc, 4 Cylinders Inline, 4 Valves/Cylinder

Timely services will keep a motor efficient and in top shape.

          • Engine Type
            DOHC

The official title given by the manufacturer in terms of the name of the engine, the displacement and the number of cylinders.

A bigger displacement and more than four-cylinders generally indicate a performance-oriented engine.

          • Fuel Type
            Petrol

All cars in India either run on petrol, diesel, CNG, LPG or electric power.

          • Max Power (bhp@rpm)
            100@5500

Gives a good idea of the performance of the vehicle under full thrust. A higher figure here usually means a higher top speed as well.

Higher the power, the peppier the engine but it can also affect fuel economy.

          • Max Torque (Nm@rpm)
            137@4250

Relates to in-gear acceleration. A higher figure here means better roll-on acceleration, fewer gear shifts, and possibly better fuel efficiency.

The more torque at low RPM range makes the engine feel more responsive. It also allows the engine to run smoothly without too many gear changes.

          • Mileage (ARAI)
            9.4 kmpl

This is the maximum fuel efficiency that an engine gives. All numbers are provided by the manufacturer based on tests conducted and specified by the standards of the ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India)

Such fuel efficiency attained while driving in special conditions makes it unlikely to get it in real-world conditions

          • Drivetrain
            FWD

Cars come with different drivetrain configurations depending on the segment.

Front-wheel drive (FWD) is most common in mainstream cars while expensive cars or SUVs come with rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD).

          • Transmission
            Manual - 5 Gears

Type of transmission used to transfer power from the engine to the wheels

A manually operated transmission is the most popular type, thanks to its simplicity and low cost. Varied types of automatic transmissions are also available.

        • Dimensions & Weight

          • Length
            4250 mm

The length of the car decides its segment. In India, cars that are less than 4 metres in length enjoy reduced excise duties.

Longer length results in more cabin space. It also adds to straight line stability.

          • Width
            1655 mm

A car's width is defined as its widest point without its mirrors.

Although more width gives you more lateral space inside the cabin, it makes the car more difficult to park in narrow spots.

          • Height
            1595 mm

The height of the car denotes the highest point of the vehicle from the ground.

Taller the car, the more headroom there is on offer inside the cabin. However, a tall boy stance also affect the car’s centre of gravity which can cause more body roll.

          • Wheelbase
            2463 mm

The space between the center of the front and rear wheels.

The longer the wheelbase, the more space there is inside the cabin.

        • Capacity

          • Doors
            5 Doors

The number of doors define the category of car. For example – four door means sedan, two-door means coupe while five-doors usually refer to a hatchback, MPV or an SUV.

          • Seating Capacity
            5 Person

The number of people that can be seated comfortably in the car, which has also been mandated by the car manufacturer.

          • Fuel Tank Capacity
            51 litres

The official volume of the fuel tank of a car, usually denoted in litres.

If a car has a large fuel tank, it can cover long distances without refuelling.

        • Suspensions, Brakes, Steering & Tyres

          • Front Suspension
Independent wheel, McPherson type with lower wishbone anchored to cross member, coil springs, stabilizing bar and telescopic dual effect shock absorbers

Almost all cars in India use an independent front suspension which is usually the MacPherson Strut type.

          • Rear Suspension
Independent wheel with longitidinal wishbones & anti-roll bar; Coil spring and telescopic dual effect hydraulic dampers & anchored to rear Axle.

The rear suspension can either be non-independent or independent.

Most of the budget cars have non-independent suspension while the more expensive ones get independent rear suspension which offers better bump absorption.

          • Front Brake Type
            Disc

Most of the vehicles sold in India get ventilated or non-ventilated disc brakes upfront.

            - The ventilated discs are more popular thanks to them providing better stopping power and it also works well in hot conditions.

          • Rear Brake Type
            Drum

In affordable cars, drums brakes are fitted at the rear as they are cost effective.

Disc setup at the rear is now getting more popular as cars are getting faster in the real world.

          • Minimum Turning Radius
            5.2 metres

The official kerb-to-kerb minimum radius a car takes to complete a 180-degree turn.

Shorter the turning radius, the lesser space you need to make a tight turn or to take a U-turn.

          • Front Tyres
            175 / 80 R14

The profile/dimension of rubber tyre that fits on the front wheels.

            Optional (extra)

An electronic system that prevents the tyres from locking and skidding in emergency braking situations by pulsing the brakes (quickly releasing and reapplying the brakes)

ABS is a great accident prevention technology, allowing drivers to steer while braking hard

        • Locks & Security

          • Steering Adjustment
            Tilt & Telescopic

A function where the steering wheel moves up/down, in/out as per the driver's requirement

When both rake and reach adjustments are incorporated, it makes for a tailormade driving position

        • Want to do our bit in helping you select a great vehicle
My family and I had to balance our requirement of a utility vehicle and practicality in Bangalore traffic, and we were excited to discover that the Fiat Adventure fit that bill well. We instantly liked the estate with its high ground clearance, Pirelli tyres and sporty attitude. At around 600K ex-showroom here I believe it delivers enough bang for the buck. If you place safety, comfort, lifestyle and unique road statement over mileage and economy of operation, then I recommend the Adventure. We narrowed our test drives to Ford Fusion and the Adventure before buying. I liked the Fusion for its better start-stop performance and eagerness in the1st-2nd gear region. The Adventure seemed to need more prodding in that region unless you revved enough, but I worry a lot about guzzling so that was out. I liked the Fusion's interiors better although the appointment seemed to be marred by cheap looking surfaces. The Adventure's interiors were a plain disappointment, and so was the instrumentation with all analog readings. We were especially surprised that Fiat would not give any thought to essential utilities like cup holders and gadget pockets for the outdoor utility appeal it tries to generate for the Adventure. We loved the Adventure for its superior ride quality though, as we took a test cruise on a patch of dirt and pockmarks. And I simply adored it when I discovered that the Adventure had plenty of room at the 3rd-4th gear positions. It came into its own with the 5th gear overdrive and reminded me of the stylish Subaru Outback I drove in the US. In the first week of our ownership we took our Adventure to Coorg on a track that varied from great roads to no-tar off-road tracks in meandering hill sections. I liked how it performed, and managed to average 10kpl throughout, with A/C on about 60% of the time. In Bangalore peak traffic in which nothing seems to move, I was rather unsettled by the steady downward droop of the fuel guage needle and can't say I did better than a 8.5kpl with A/C intermittently on. While I vouch that on long hauls I felt significantly less tired, city drive (of the horrific kind in Bangalore) appeared  somewhat onerous at the controls of a 1.2 ton vehicle. But it did feel good to see some of those belligerent truckers making way for us or to see some heads turn around. The four fog lamps capable of shining into the head of the drivers in the opposite direction came in handy to make them realize that they had to lower their high beams in dense two-way traffic conditions. The side mount bars and bull-bar, all standard accessories, appear as deterrents to the pesky two and three wheelers that want to squeeze into your blind spots. That reminds me, the side mirros are not very useful to me; even at maximum swivel I have to crouch to peer into them for a full view while driving. And someone also said that the all-terrain Pirellis need rotation at every 5000Kms due to their special tread. We took our bet on this vehicle knowing that a Fiat never lets you down if you treat it well and hoping Tatas will deliver on their promise of a better after sales service. To sum up, my family and I are pretty happy with our decision and glad that we found a multi utility vehicle for our lifestyle. We plan to take the vehicle on long drives to better utilize what we perceive are its 'intended uses'. We think it is a great performer and looks and feels great.Unique road presence, good suspension, steering, build, serious offroading applicationdisappointing interiors, instrumentation could be better
