Tata Tigor EV XE review

We bought new Tata Tigor EV in April 2022 from Gokul Motors, Chrompet, Chennai, after too many questions and clarifications form the vendor. (TN11Y0076)The car was initially good and until done 10K Kms, no issues. Suddenly got in to mess while completing 15K mark, where the car batteries gone and car stopped middle of the road and Tata eventually had to replace battery after keeping over 10 days in the workshop. After big struggle the car was serviced as the service center don't have any troubleshooting or fixing capability of a EV problem. Every time when I do follow up, the workshop people mostly waiting for either (assembly)plant instruction or an Engineer to come down from Plant to fix the car. Again at 23000 Kms, had issues with charging, where the service center staff tried their level best and even after 1 week, they were unable to do the triage. Latest update I had from Tata services today (As I am typing this review 13Dec2022), workshop needs 3 more days to fix and still not know what was the actual problem with the car. Our hands on experience to share potential EV buyers, please do through analysis and beware that EV is a immature product, in which we are betting on. Thank you..!

The Safari Storme has completed a month in our garage and the first thing I did was to take it for a week-long 1500km long trip on a well surfaced road. That’s what SUVs are for. Of course, there were some broken roads and a few ditches strewn sparsely and I had to take it off the road across the wild grass to wash her in the pond so that she was ready for the picture above. I could have done most of it in my decade-old sedan, but guess what, it certainly wouldn’t have been so comfortable and stress-free.

So then, the Safari Storme that was launched a few years ago is certainly an aberration. And that is not only because my boss loves it but also because the Safari Storme is here to stay. In spite of the competition coming up with cosier cars, modern designs and also despite the launch of the new Varicor 400, the Storme with the old 320Nm setup sells better and we want to know why.

Tata had launched the Safari Storme facelift earlier this year. Along with cosmetic upgrades, Tata also upgraded the 2.2-litre diesel to produce more power and torque. Seven months down the line there is yet another engine tweak and this untimely improvement is being done for a good reason and it’s called the Hexa.
