Full Review

Exterior Looks good, nice style etc.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Poor design of power window at the driver seat. Horn design on Stearing is not at all good. Chevy Logo on the Stearling weel is not good. No Driver seat height adjustment at all.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Poor pickup at 2nd gear, WORST MILEAGE getting around 11-12kms/ltr that too without AC, with-AC it gives 9kms which is very poor. Dont blindly trust the Sales guys who promote this vehicle by saying 21/km which is a FALSE-Info.

Ride Quality & Handling I have driven around 1500kms and comfort wise, this car is good. But not suitable for Indian traffic and roads as per the mileage i'm getting.

Final Words Not suitable for ppl in India as our main point of concern is Mileage.

Areas of improvement Surely the Mileage is the main area for Chevy to improve on and to reduce false promises during sales. First servcie is at 1000k or a month which ever is earlier and 2nd one is at 7500kms or 6months whichever is earlier. This should be reconsidered as 7500kms is quite more and many ppl may not reach this in 6 months. Moreover, they dont do any service during the 1st check as they just call PDI check and not so useful.

Sail has the same engine as that in Enjoy and UVA.With Tavera already out it is their  entire range which is affected by the quality problem.GM may be still hiding some facts.

Nipun Bharti on 12 Jun, 2013 at 11:15 AM

So one thing is clear that the problem is larger than Fiat Multijet engine and it affects GM diesel engines which is a bigger cause of concern for prospective and existing GM customers

Sridhar on 11 Jun, 2013 at 07:00 PM

Tavera is facing some problems with the emissions and it is only for the BS III engine which is sold in tier 2 cities. So it has been stopped for now and yes its not the multijet in the Tavera

Subramanian on 11 Jun, 2013 at 05:22 PM

How is it that the Tavera is also affected? I do not think it has the same engine.

Sridhar on 11 Jun, 2013 at 04:56 PM

the engine under discussion here is the famous multijet engine which as already mentioned, is used by Fiat, TATA, MS, GM etc. The engine was developed by GM and Fiat and not SIAC.

Nipun Bharti on 11 Jun, 2013 at 04:29 PM

If I remember correct the GM diesel engine is also  modified and developed by SAIC

Nipun Bharti on 11 Jun, 2013 at 04:02 PM

Centaur in this situation GM will never come out with actual facts and we have no other source to know the real reasons except for GM who  is tight lipped as they are not even informing their customers. In case you have a reliable source you can suggest

Sridhar on 11 Jun, 2013 at 03:47 PM

Nipun - rather than just jumping to conclusion would help if you can read the news completely. The problem apparently is only with the diesel cars and not petrol ones. SO the production for only the diesel has been stopped. Note that the car itself has no problem but the diesel engine that reportedly has some quality issues. Also the same engine is being used in the enjoy but that prodcution and sales for the enjoy still continues atleast as of now. Considering the fact that its the same engine being used by FIAT, TATA, Maruti and GM, blaming China SAIC for the problem would be baseless IMO since they did not develop the engine from scratch

EDIT - I guess its better to wait till the actual problem is out and then play the blame game

Nipun Bharti on 11 Jun, 2013 at 02:43 PM

I have always been saying that GM should not have gone to SAIC ,China as China has not really come up to the standard of Japan and Korea in terms of quality. This setback to GM was expected.I hope there is a resolution soon as customers are at the receiving end.

Subramanian on 11 Jun, 2013 at 02:24 PM

It is all over the net. Just google "gm stops production of sail" and see what all are displayed: recall of diesel Sail, stopping production and sale of Sail, tiff between GM and SAIC etc etc.
