Exterior The car is quite attractively built & is easily amongst the best "lookers" in its class. The car surely manages to turn a few heads when parked. I won a Black Chevrolet Aveo 1.4 LS and had convinced the dealer to provide me with a rear spoiler. The headlights are extremely powerful and the indicators are quite attractive as well. The "night appeal" of the car gets further enhanced due to the designing & the dynamics of the car.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The Aveo is easily amongst the most spacious sedans in its class. The thoughtfully built cup holder in the rear seat also acts as an arm rest. The seats are quite comortable, even for very long journeys. The fantastic cabin space ensures that there is sufficient leg room for a 6-footer. The rear leg room is also quite good. The best feature is the "height adjustment" feature for the driver.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The 5 speed gear box does pack quite a punch and ensures a smooth and easy acceleration and handling even at high speeds of about 140-150 kms/hour. The car is quite stable and has a good road-grip as well, thereby making the overall driving experience quite pleasurable.

However, the car could be a "fuel guzzler" in a city like Mumbai. I drove my Aveo for the first 10000 kms only in Mumbai and was getting an average of only about 9.2 Kmpl with AC. However, since I moved out of Mumbai, I have been getting a minimum city mileage of 11.5 kmpl and highway mileage of 14kmpl. But when compared to the pricing of the car and contrasting it with the other cars in the same league, Aveo 1.4 LS is definitely value for money.

Ride Quality & Handling Fantastic. The pick up though is slightly on the lower side when compared to a Maruti Desire/ SX4, Honda City but on the whole, the acceleration is smooth and the handling is quite good. The car is stable and as mentioned before, a powerhorse with good handling even at high speeds.

Final Words Value for money sedan when compared to all the other cars of its category. Definitely go for it & turn a few heads if fuel economy is not the sole deciding criteria.

Areas of improvement The AC tends to stop functioning after driving for about 3-4 hours on the trot. Probably due to some component getting heated up. The ground clearance and "In city" mileage needs some improvement, especially considering the hopeless traffic and road conditions in Indian cities.

Styling, Dual Tone interiors, Dash Board, Road Grip, Low on maintenancePick Up, Fuel Efficiency, Ground Clearance

I bought an Aveo LT 1.4 (Velvet Red colour) on October 13, 2010.

I had done extensive research before I settled on the Aveo. Other cars in my shortlist were Fiat Linea (Dynamic), Hyundai Verna Transform, Ford Fiesta (Limited Edition) and SX4 (Vxi). I finally chose the Aveo LT since at this price it offers the best deal. I paid 6.9 lacs (on road). At 6.9 lacs on road, no car in my shortlist offered the following combination: Airbag+CD/MP3 player with 6 speakers+Leather interiors with wood panelling+Keyless entry+Electric door mirrors+Alloy wheels+Tilt steering+Height adjustable drivers seat. Only the Aveo LT gave all this and more.

I have driven about 1100 km so far. The car is very smooth and the ride is comfortable. The sound insulation inside the cabin is superb. Handling is good and fit and finish is also superior to most in the same category. Only flipside is fuel economy. I am getting about 8.5 kmpl with AC in the city. I am told that this will increase to 9/10 after first service but I doubt it. But I must mention here that my friends who have Fiesta or SX4 also get around 8 kmpl in the city. Only Linea gives around 10 kmpl.

I feel GM India underrate such a great offer. There is no publicity, no advertising that happens of the Aveo. Ads of Linea, Fiesta, Verna etc are always seen in magazines or TV. But the Aveo is conspicuous in its absence. Which makes the Aveo look like a loser in comparison to its competitors.
Trust me, the value for money is incredible for the Aveo LT. No car offers this kind of features at this price.

Exterior Styling is beyond comparison with the dezire, fiesta, logan, SX4 , have test driven all of these before going for Aveo.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Better than the above mentioned vehicles.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I bought the vehicle in October 09, have driven my Chevy for 12000+ km and the average i got was always 12-13.5kpl (average) whether on city roads, hilly terrain(Himachal & Uttarakhand) or National highways. The Kpl seems to improve with the odometer reading i.e after 10000 km it has gone upto 13kpl.

Ride Quality & Handling Excellent no complaints, except for the road clearance on higher speed breakers the body kisses the speed breakers and it jolts my heart.

Final Words Great vehicle to own below 7 lacs, value for money.

Areas of improvement after sales service requires some serious thought. No needs to be increased. The capacitor of my Blower (AC) could not be replaced at one of the dealer because of non availability.

Feel good factor,Road Presence, value for moneyroad clearance (the under body kisses the speed breakers),ASS

      Exterior Excellent.

      Interior Excellent.

      Features Excellent.

Space Less than Manza & Fiesta, but equal to Dzire.

      Comfert Excellent.

Engine Performance Cant say much about performance because i bought it a month back & covered only 3000 km, But till date it is very good.

Fuel Economy Now this is something surprizing but excellent, because 1400cc, 1.4 ltr engine car in CNG version is giving milage @1.21 paise/km without AC & with AC 1.55 paise/km, in Petrol 11-12 km/Ltr.

Gearbox: it feels Little tight during some 100's kms but u'll get used to it.

Ride Quality & Handling: Very Good.

Final Words Being an engineer I hv gone through detailed analysis & search of six months before buying this car, as i wanted to give my money its value. My car is CNG version & it comes only in baisc model, I feel every car is good in itself bcoz no manufacturer want to make bad product, Performance of car depends how u drive & how u care about your vechicle. You may find a 20yr old Fiat or Maruti car in very good condition & a brand new Audi or BMW in a very bad condition. Buying a car variably depends  individually, some buy on interiors, some on exterior, some on milage, some only on aftersales service, But if you want everything in a car between 6-7 lac then go for it.

CNG version costs me 7 LAC & Till now after 3000km it took less than Rs.4000/- from my pocket, belive me. It requires atleast 6 ltr petrol in its tank to get start, this car is not designed for very fast drivers. If you are a simple sober family person then this car & you are made for each other.   Also most impressive is No other company fitted CNG car is having 1 Lac km or 3Yrs warrenty. Pickup in CNG is very good but just little less then petrol. Dont think about Petrol if you are from middle class family.

Lots of ppls asks me about resale value, now u judge me if i am wrong. After covering 1 lac km @ 1.21/km or say 1.50pasie/km, u will spend Rs.1.5 lacs on 1 lac km, if campare it with petrol on 1 lac km u will spend approx Rs.4 lacs (Rs.4/km) , so the difference of Rs.3 lac will be my saving in expectation of resale value.

Areas of improvement 1) Left knee always touches the dashboard curve no matter how u adjust your seat but it will touch your left knee, it should be improved.

      2)  Right now m not facing any problem but i feel Chevy should have more service stations & workshops if they really want to comptete the rivals, coz this is a better car in all respect except aftersales service & it meant alot to me also.

Verdict Now would u like to drive an Aveo which is luxurious, comfertable, 1400 cc, i.4ltr engine, with all power windows, tilt stearing, hight adjustable seat with great interior & exterior @ 1.20 - 1.50 paise/km. what more u need now.

Comfert, status symbol, luxury, international brand, good milage, real value for moneyIt is the only car which have little less space for its driver

Bought the car in October 2010 after two months of rigorous research, test drives and secondary research on websites. Wanted to buy a car at under 7 lacs. The contenders:-

Hyundai i20 - Almost bought it (the Petrol Sports version). Decided not to coz fell in love with the Aveo! Also, the AC is pathetic. Just doesn't work in the heat! The engine's just ain't capable enough to pull a car that size.

Ford Fiesta - Loved the drive! However, the interiors feel cheap, the exterior very basic, just not worth the money!

Ford Figo - Cheap feel all over it!

Hyundai Accent - All time favourite. But the interiors are too basic. However, definitely a great value for money vehicle

VW Polo - Waiting period of more than 4 months. Else, a fantastic hatch.

VW Vento - Would've picked it up if it came a lac cheaper.

Fiat Linea - Won hands down in the looks department. However, too slow to maneuver round the city and the T-Jet was way beyond my budget

Maruti SX4 - Looks bulky and ugly at the same time, cheap plastics, bad ride quality... screams Maruti all over

Did not bother to check out the Verna, Manza, Logan, Dezire coz I don't like the way they look and the City/Jazz coz they are way too expensive for their respective segment.

Exterior This is where the car scores way above the competition. Every contour, every line of the car has been finished with a distinct finesse.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Two thumbs up for the interiors. Claasy and one segment above is the way I would describe the interiors. Pure leather seats, chrome inserts, beautifully finished dash, quality of plastics everything sets this car apart.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Well, this is where the car is a bit of a letdown. The engine does not exude enough confidence at lower RPMs. However, once you cross the 2000 RPM mark, there is no looking back. The car has enough muscle to do what you intend it to do and if driven well, can give a run for money to the likes of Fiesta as well. However, you always feel a couple of horses missing somewhere!

Ride Quality & Handling Handling, though a little hard, is very precise. The hydraulic steering system screams control and confidence at high speeds. Have driven it at a max of 140kmph and it has always been a pleasant experience.

Final Words If you're looking at car that takes you from point A to B in style and does not burn a hole in your pocket, look no further than Aveooooooh!

Areas of improvement Power at low rpms, dashboard reflection, audio control on steering, only one airbag.

Mesmerizing Exteriors, Awesome interiors, Ride qualityNot for speed freaks

      Hi everyone,

I am a B.Tech student in Delhi College Of Engineering. We have recently bought a Chevrolet Aveo LT, after a series of rigrous comparison between.

      1. Ford Fiesta

      2. Hyundai i20

      3. Hyundai Verna

      4. Fiat Linea

      5. Volkswagen Vento

      (Budget under 7 lac)

The very first thing that must be considered before saying anything about a car is certainly it's price. For example it makes little sense to compare a honda accord with honda city and conclude that city lacks charm!

For a 6.6 lac car the exteriors are decent. Far better than the TATA cars that absolutely lack cuts and curves. However the allow wheels are absolutely dumb and look more like "wheel covers" and also the 14" wheels are not justified, it should have atleast been 15" across. Even hatchback cars (volkswagen polo) now come with a 15" wheel. In terms of wheels Fiat Linea rocks!

Neway apart from the wheels, which is just average, the overall exterior is above average compared to the other cars in the market in a range of about 8 lac (exceptions being Volkswagen Vento and Fiat Linea)

As far as interiors are concerned this car is simply way ahead of the others. This is the primary reason why we chose this over Fiat Linea, Hyundai Verna and Ford Fiesta. The wooden trim and the learher finish are simply excellent. Plastic quality is also ok. Seating position is also comfortable and feels reasonably spacious.

However the plastic of the glass holders should have been better. This is one thing that lowers the excitement involved with the interiors, though after a bit of careful scrutinization. (Seriously)

The music system is also ok. Bass is good till medium range of volume after which it begins to crack. This is as expected as the system does not have separate sub-woofers. But still the rare woofers can produce a decent amount of bass for casual listning. As a rough idea the sound is approximately equivalent to a music system of about 2100 watts P.M.P.O (30 to 40 watts RMS). Trebble is ok even at slightly higher range of volume.

AC is very good, capable of cooling down the car to approx 25 degree celcius in about 200 sec with the outside temperature being approx 35 degree celcius.

The car is upto the expectation of a true petrol engine. A sheer pin-drop-silence even after ignition! Acceleration is fairly good. It reaches 100km/hr in about 14 to 15 sec. Maximum I've reached is about 140 to 145km/hr. I think it should reach about 150km/hr on good roads without much hassels.

The car is  very stable, streeing is good, above average handling. I pulled it to 85km/hr on the 2nd gear that too on a football field!! The car reaches upto 110km/hr in a butter like manner and you don't feel the speed with the windows pulled up. In short the ride is well in control and smooth (thanks to gas filled shock absorbers)

The only noticible problem was that several times (4 to 5 times) the transmission abruptly nutrilized on over accelerating suddenly (above 5000 rpm) on the 2nd and 3rd gear. Well this was all off  the road, while trying drifts. Has never happened on normal drives on the road.

      Fuel economy is about

a: 15 km/l on highways  (without AC, with speed crossing 100km/hr when favourable).

b: 13 km/l on highways  (with AC, with speed crossing 100km/hr when favourable).

c: 17 km/l on highways  (without AC, with speed not exceeding 70km/hr).

Aftersales dealing is certainly poor Well this may vary from dealers to dealers so I dont wanna comment much on this. The sales department was dissapointing after purchase, they showed severe disconcern and irresponsibility after. However the service department has been fairly ok till now.

In Short Excellent as compared to other cars within Rs. 7 lac.

Exterior is attractive, conferred with the looks of intelligence.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Spacious, comfortable unclustered, simple and gives you feeling king like experience. But the signal switch is disgustingly in the left hand side, and the flasher button (Drive straight signal) is placed far away.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine power is strong, but only a king can effort the petrol it burns. Distressingly uneconomical in comparison to its class. temparature gauge immediately shot up to red mark. Oofs, cooling system always miserably fails and gushes out boiled steams from the air vents. Chevrolet manufactures vehicles but it does not have solutions for the problems of its vehicles. dont believe? take any Chevrolet car and experience yourself. I purchased a Spark LT and repented. again I took an Aveo and repenting again. Blunder after blunder.

      Ride Quality & Handling Average.

Final Words I being a former Chevrolet Jingoist would advice not to take any Chevrolet made car. they are good in looks but excellent in eating out brains.

Areas of improvement Numerous, except space.

The boot space is extremely large and good for carrying your professional stuffspersistant problems in AC syatem and the engine temperature rises too high and no solution

I had bad experience so many times from GM Show rooms, I bought it in 2006 May and I got the problem with ABS Sensor in December and sent Bangalore, Hyderabad at last got replaced in July end 2007 after somany followups and worked only for 2 months and rplaced with payment and got same problem in two months and no one service centres give any gurantee or response for that. After 100000 KM engine getting over heat and sent for repair and spent 39k and run 100km and got problem with engine piston crank and spent 80K and run for 6000 km and got sump break, engine block break in running and the service centre says its not our responsibility for any of above, all these problems I got it from KUN AUTOMOBILES Hyderabad. I think when they have fitted the engine without proper locking of piston connecting bush.

Final Words If you want run below 50000KM its very nice, dont go for it more than that if you want run.
