Exterior Bland no fuss - I like it.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Top Class.

Irritants: Arm rest at the wrong place. Entry for a tall man is difficult. If you are tall you have to keeo the seat at its lowest in order to enter easily. Then the arm rest is way above your elbow height. Only way to use the arm rest is to take it out of the way. Otherwise fantastic to drive once you aree in position.

In India the horn is the most important safety feature especially in smaller towns and the country side. In all European cars a strong man uses one hand a normal man both hands and if you are not strong enough you use your legs. The radio is on your finger tips of course. How I wish the horn was there.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox No competition at this range. 0 to 100 Better than Skoda Laura. Fuel economy Surprising.

Gear box perfect. Hyundai Verna put a 128HP engine but to match. Volkswagen makes the worlds best engines both in Diesel and petrol.

Ride Quality & Handling Top Class. Suspension a little stiff which is actually good. Adds to the handling.

      Final Words NA.

      Areas of improvement NA.

Fuel Economy, Safety, Comfort.Rapid looks better.

Exterior Understated styling but really elegant.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Comfortable, styling is elegant but typically germanic.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Difficult to say that theres a diesel under the hood...its that quiet inside the car.The engine is efficient with a no-nonsense way of getting the thing done.Torque is really awesome, drove at 25km/hr in fourth with no engine knocking at all.Past the 1000 rpm mark it really zooms.

Ride Quality & Handling Awesome, suspension is fabulous,no bumps filter through on rough patches.

Final Words Got mine from OSL Exclusive in Kolkata.Dealer experience was very good.Got 20000 rs worth of free accessories. The on road price was 945000 but after doing the insurance myself and VW giving a further "doctor's discount"of Rs 12444 the onroad price came to Rs915000.all in all a good deal to me!The dealer showroom is really classy and sales reps are very helpful. The fuel economy is 13.5km/l but that is in the city, sure it will be higher on the highway and city economy will probably increase after the car has run a few thousand kms.

      Areas of improvement None really!

Good style and engine performanceNothing really1

      Hi All,

This is my 1st ever review on Carwale. Ever since i was a child i was bought up in this environment of Japanese and Korean brands, with just one outlook that a car should hve good fuel economy and shud b low at maintenance. But times hve changed and now other factors such as ride, handling, premium feel, features r considered. I owned a Hyundai  i10 Kappa engine b4 this, and altough the car was very good in most of areas and did its job very well. But did not excelled in any one area. its never caused any problems in its tenure of 2 yrs and 35K KMs it was with me. But due to the rising cost of petrol and space issues (family of 4 with average height being 5'7".myself being 6'1 😄) during long journeys compelled me to change. Also, at the time of buying my i10 i had considered Fabia petrol, but again due to the above factors nad some family opinions i shifted my mind to i10 even though i liked evr aspect of the Fabia over i10. But this time i wanted a car which gives me absolute thrill n pleasure while driving(as i drive myself). So here my experience:

      Exterior

Quite elegant. Please all offend none types. although understated quit crisp, typical German (some bits taken from Audi stable). i especially like the side profile. The Volkwagen logo looks awesome on the front grille.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Altough there is a common belief that it it a Polo+Boot, let me clarify that only parts are shared btu it is a sedan which is built from scratch. The interior space is good. can accomodate 4 persons wid ease. It actually can pack in 5 but the huge hump(trasmission tunnel) limits it. Ergonomically perfect, but i personally feel the turn indicators shud hve been on the right side. The positioning of the front armrest is debatable though. altough for me its perfect 😎. the dashborad layout is pretty simple but ergonomic.typical German. Except for one absurdly placed bonnet openin lever which if u need to open the door as its confilts wid the door panel. Seats r quite nice altough i feel a bit more thigh support wud hve been better. Legroom good, Steering feel and positioning is great. On the features list especially for the trendline version is disappointing altough the cabin quality makes u forget that. Driver side door shud hve access to all windows(my i10 also had). the ac blower noise is also on the higher side for 3+ Speed. Premiun feels once ur in side the cabin.Rest fine.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Its a stonking diesel this one..Hoots, bomb to drive. Lots of low end torque and quite linear too.Just press the accelerator n off she shoots. But the clutch shud hve been a bit more soft compared to fluidic Verna(my uncle owns it n hve driven for fair amt of kms). Also, i feel the diesel lacks on the refinement levels too when compared to competitors. Fuel ecoomy is very good. I get 14-15 in city(peak hour mumbai traffic) and 18-20 on highway. Gear shifting is good but cud hve been better. Top speed also good. personally touched 180 kmph on expressway.

      Ride Quality & Handling

This is where the Germans hve mastered it. The Japanes and Koreans will take ages for it. At low speeds, straight lines or throw it around corners, u will never feel nervous. Although ABS cud hve been the perfect icing on the cake but by no means it lacks bike without ABS. Also, i personally feel the tyre size shud hve been atleast 15"n above. At low speeds there r sliht thud that filter in but thats due to the stiff suspension setup altough the people onside r not bothered much.

      Final Words

Final Say: Own it to believe it. Just dun judge it on the features list alone. Kepp it up VW!! Way to go.

      Areas of improvement

Add ABS and bit more on the finicky features, make small mud flaps, increase the service network, bonnet opening lever, tyre sixe.

A stonking diesel engine, build and plastic quality, good fuel economyLess features to competitors, engine refinement, mud flaps too long

Exterior Its cool and curvey, not like manza robot looks and not like verna looks which will look outdated soon and also not like honda city. Vento has got looks which are classic and sober.. not funky.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) You feel like you are a pilot, I saw etios,manza,accent,verna,sunny,i20 but I didn't feel like when I set inside vento. You have to be inside only then you can feel it.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Fuel economy is good, I am getting 14+ on petrol. Gear box looks not that smooth but still this is different technology.

Engine performance is good, and anyway family people don't drive 100KM/Hr many a times.

Ride Quality & Handling Handling is against very good , in city you can drive it very easily and on lower gears you don't even have to press the accelator , it maintains some speed depending upon gears.

Final Words Buy it, it will be with your for next 15+ years. very very solid built. showrrom executive literally stood on the door and showed us the. Strong built qualityl

Areas of improvement I like its positives very much and few things are here and there that you can always get in any car. no car is perfact .. but if you like quality then go for it else you always have maruti and tata etc.

Good Looks,Good driving experience, good space, good interiorsNothing as such only hight adjustment should be there in all models

      Exterior NA

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) NA

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox NA

Ride Quality & Handling There seems to be some inbuilt problem with wheel alingment. Car tends to swirl to left always. Our dealer in chennai says its not correctable and questionsour driving.

Final Words We had tried different dealers for servicing the problem. Noone seems to care about the problem. We had to make umpteen trips evento get back our original id proofgiven for regisstration fo vehicle. Never go for the vehicle until tested and areas of concern improved. Volkswagen india has to recall all defectiv vehicles and change defective pars immediately. we have baely driven the vehicle for 3000kms. When we tried to servie the vehicl with a different dealer. They noiticed grevious problem in front and rear wheels. They again retained the vehicle for another one week and r still to deliver it. After having purchased the vehicle after waitin for almost 8 months, i am forced to travel in acab for almost a month.

Areas of improvement Overall performance of cars. dealersattitude towards customers.

good interiors and spacewheel balancing not good, tends to swirl towards left while driving

Exterior If you look at the exterior of the car its elegance will steal your heart. It has road presence there is no doubt about it. Its VW logo gives it a premium look which other cars can't give.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors of the car are of good quality material. When you will sit in the car it seems you have sit in the 20 lakhs car as build quiality of this car is unmachable. Its plastic is not cheap like maruti, verna ford but of cars like AUDI, BMW,,,It has acres of space especially at the rear seat.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox lets talk about its magic engine. Its like a powerhouse thats churns 250 N/M of torque and this engine can beat any other engine on road even of fortuner's engine. After 1800 rpm it zooms like a rocket. No other car can beat this powerhorse. I drove verna too before buying this but verna was not stable at hight speed. But this car is damn stable even at 170 Km/ hour. If I talk about the gearbox its smooth as butter. I dont face any problem in shifting gears.

Ride Quality & Handling It smoothly glides on the road as it absorbs all the potholes very effeciently.

Final Words I am really impressed by this car. I give 8 out of 10 to this car. Its really a value for money. If you have to choose between verna, ford fiesta and vento then without any other thought you must lock vento.

      Areas of improvement NA.

Good handling, good fuel economy, Good Build Quality and world class brandNo cons as such

      Areas of improvement  :

I know this is German car, but when you are selling in India it has to meet the Indian consumers needs. Thats what Japanese did. They sell car all over world, in US they has indicators on left and in India they on right. In India drivers need to have one hand on steering and other on gear handle and India cities has too much of traffic and these operations are done simultaneously. Similarly, the hood/bonnet open lever on passenger side, so driver has to go all way to other side open the bonnet. I know everybody want to save money on R&D and this is not expected from a world renewed car maker. Disappointed!!! This need to fixed immediately. The horn is used very often in India and the driver has to move his hand to honk so this needs to be reachable to the fingers either by expanding the horn button on providing extra buttons on both sides of the spokes of the steering wheel.

Comfort and looksControls need to be changed to suit Indian conditions

I am a user of Honda city for the last 6years , and i wanted to change my car and hence looked at vokswagan vento as my choice. On the web site when i checked for test drive within 10 minutes there was a response and the person took my contact details. My first impression was great. Then the salesperson from the dealer ship in hosur road, bangalore called me to fix appointment. I had sought for an appointment on a saturday at 4 PM , the response was SORRY WE DONT OFFER TEST DRIVES ON SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS. I was shoched to hear the response. I dont want to waste my leaves for the purchase of car visiting dealerships to have test drive on week days.I wrote a feedback to the company websit. It is almost 15 daysthere is no response from the company till date. Surprisingly thedealership salesperson called me two days before expressing to book the car, I was just laughing on the behavior. I think the company nor the dealership dont have care for the buyers. My opinion they are laughing stock.

Looks and the designThe dealer behavior

      Exterior

      Satisfactory at its level

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

      Excellent at its level

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

So far, everything is working fine for last one year with fuel economy as ~16 kmpl. However, pickup rate is slow on 3rd or 4th gear in traffic after sudden brake is applied and you do not have time to change to lower gear.

      Ride Quality & Handling

Driving and riding comforts were excellent during last one year, even the car at 160 kmph in expressway moves like floating. However the compfort appeared to reduce after the first service. The local VW dealer was informed and they did 2nd round service. However, it is yet to be tested in long ride.

      Final Words

To my personal opinion, it was a good choice to have a VW than a Honda City (except look and FE to some extent). In fact, people will be surprised to know that I was going to book Honda city and on the way I saw the VW new Showroom, had the test rides of both and decided to buy VW HL Petrol looking at the comparative features including safety.

Though it is so far so good, the time will say the final words about VW performance and market which Honda City has already established through their long term presence.

      Areas of improvement

       1) The wiper design on the driver side needs to be modified to facilitate windscreen maintenance.    2) The service cost is too high.

After going through several reviews, it is felt that we cannot expect everything out of every product in the market.

However, the final hesitation comes in mind after purchasing the car - when my German colleague says that VW is not a popular car in Germany!!

       Review by: S Sengupta, Vadodara

Interior looks, specially the dashboard panel, AC control, Fuel tank lid on driver side. The design of the driver side wiper needs to be improved for windscreen cleaning
