Volkswagen India has launched the 2015 Jetta and it is available in three variants and six trim levels. This is the second major update for the German automaker’s D-segment sedan since it was first launched and seems to be the most comprehensive one thanks to the changes its hatchback sibling, the Golf received when it was launched in Mk7 guise.
The new Jetta gets minimal updates like a redesigned front bumper, grille, headlamps with LED lights and at the rear the car gets a small kink at the top of the bootlid and new tail lamps.
The changes inside the cabin are again minimal and except the attention assist system and the new steering wheel borrowed from the Polo there is nothing to talk home about.
ENGINE & GEARBOX
Mechanically, it will continue to be powered by the 1.4-litre TSI petrol and the 2.0-litre TDI diesel engines. The diesel is available with a choice of two transmissions - 6-speed manual and 6-speed DSG whereas the petrol is available with only the 6-speed manual.
The 2015 Jetta competes with the Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Elantra and the Skoda Octavia.
