On 30th May 2011 (day before yesterday) evening I took the delivery of newly purchased Tata Manza, AURA (ABS) having Chassis No. MAT613040BLC08481, Engine No. 101A2000-0142453, Registration No. DL5CG1832 from M/s Raghuvanshi Enterprises Private Limited, Dilshad Garden, Delhi - 110095. I have faced the following problems with this vehicle and the dealer:-

At the time of delivery blue tooth feature of music system was not working properly (I was able to hear the incoming voice but my caller or receiver was not able to hear my voice). Showroom staffer told me that there might be some issues relating to connection and it would be resolved once I drive the vehicle for 4-5 kilometres. The same is not working properly till now. Please note that I have purchased TATA Manza, AURA (ABS) version and the company is charging extra money for this feature.

The diesel which showroom provided in the new car was not sufficient enough to cover a distance of 5 kilometres. New car could not reach the petrol pump of Anand Vihar colony (Masih Automobiles) from the showroom in Dilshad Garden. The distance between petrol pump and showroom is not more than 5 kilometres. I took help of people to push my new car so that I can reach to the petrol pump. After getting the fuel filled in my new car, it could not start for 20 minutes for the reasons beyond my knowledge despite of repeated attempts by me to start the car. This issue I bring to the knowledge of Mr. Sajid Khan, Salesman of showroom immediately and asked him to send the help. Before the help reached car started with my own attempts. I am not able to understand what were the reasons of non starting of car. For your information I have been driving Santro Zing for last eight years but have never faced this type of problem.

Despite all this, I tired to reconcile myself and forget whatever my experience was at the delivery stage.

On 31.05.2011 morning at 8:00 am at the time of leaving my residence for the office, when I started my car, its fuel pipe started leaking freely like a rivulet. Within a time span of 30-40 seconds, 4-5 liters of diesel had got leaked from the fuel pipe (still you can see the diesel stains on the road in front of my residence) for the reasons beyond my knowledge. Since I have to reach my office for urgent meeting I took my old car and left for the office. Again I raised the issue immediately with Mr. Sajid Khan, Salesman and he raise this issue internally within his company but despite this no senior person from the showroom was bothered to call me up and provide me assurance. After complaint Mr. Sachin from the workshop had came to repair the car and after repair he assured me that he had rectified the fault. My concern is that how can a new car have this type of fault? No senior manager from the showroom was bothered to inform me about the fault and its seriousness. I have never faced this problem with my Santro Zing.

On 31.05.2011 evening I drove the vehicle and took it to my in-laws house. When I reached there again, I found that the diesel was dripping from my car and today morning also I have observed that some diesel has spilled.

While driving car in the evening I had observed that the clutch of the vehicle is very hard and had some sort of bubble effect or you can say it was not smooth. How can new vehicle have the hard clutch, as my eight year old Santro Zing has better clutch than new Tata car?

I have observed that whenever somebody is getting in or getting out from the rear seat a strange noise comes from the shockers. How new vehicle shockers can gives a noise?

I also observed that a strange sound is coming from the area behind the rear seat. I am not able to locate the reasons for that sound.

Today morning I avoided taking the new car to my office which is around 25 kilometres away from my residence apprehending it might stop in between or diesel may start leaking or may face another trouble. All the above issues listed by me gives a clear indication that the vehicle has some manufacturing defect.

I bought the Tata Manza Aura+ quadrajet in feb 2010 for my parents in India. The car was just a few months old in the market then. I did a little bit of research before I decided on this car.

I have a Honda accord and a peugeot in Ireland and I am writing this review based on the past experiences with many other  cars I have travelled and driven in India as well as in Ireland. Firstly let me tell about one bad experience with this car which made me write a bad review about this car earlier. Initially when I bought this car, there was a problem with air conditioning and headlights and  the car was in the garage for more than 4 days in just 2 months after delivery. When I had the ac problem initially, I was so annoyed that I wanted to sell this car immediately and  tried the dezire, logan, Fiesta and even city - beleive me, the only car that I felt better was the new honda city. The delay to repair the car was that it was new and spares were not readily available. Since then the car has been great.

The styling is different, better looking than the older indigo sedan. I wish the car had alloys atleast in this model. It looks very good in certain colours. Interiors are not too bad. I agree there are slight gps in the dashboard but its not ugly looking. The car has good stereo and bluetooth system, I was able to listen to my ipod touch as well. The ac is good but it would have been great if there were rear ac vents. The seats are very comfortable and there is good leg room in front and back. There is a decent sized boot that it can accomodate 2 big suitcases and 2 small ones as well. There are 2 airags in front and abs so it is safe enough , but there  is no cruise control but I know it will never be used even in highways. The car is average in power but it is better than the other cars that I tried ( we are not buying for a grand prix, are we?) I have travelled some long trips in this car  in Tamilnadu and we were comfortable even with three in the back row. The price is good when you compare other top end models in this class. Here are a few reasons why I bought tata manza - in comparison to other brands.

      1) swift dezire - even though the mileage and performance is not too bad in this as some claim, its pricey and the leg room is very less and not spacious enough.

      2) mahindra logan- the boot space is big as some claim but the manza is not bad either,  no passanger airbag in front, less power when compared to manza.

      3) hyundai verna- little boot.

      4) ford fiesta- expensive, less power, small boo.

      5) honda new city- It drives well,  leg room in the rear is not bad and ofcourse its a honda but its nearly 3lakhs more even though I liked it.

Places where the manza can be improved: Provision of rear ac vents and alloys, more air bags, ebd, traction control etc ( just kidding - you get only  what you pay for) interior plastics, expand service stations.

Note: my dad says the car has been very comfortable in every journey and the 2 drivers who drive it  say that the manza  is very smooth and powerfull compared to the other cars they drive.  I always wanted to own a car which is an Indian product and I am really happy with this car. I would definitely come back in a few months to give updates about my car.

value for money, more refined, different, Indian Brandaverage power, no rear ac vents, no alloys, no climate control

Exterior: It not eye catching but good. It gives a feel of Indica which is the negetive point of it. Although if the exterior can be more stylish & eye catching then it can challenge the Honda City.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort): From inside it is very comfortable & Very spacious from inside. The seats are also very comfortable for the long drive also. The best part I liked most from inside is its music system which comes with Bluetooth technology with which I can attend my phone calls. Every time I also need not to connect my bluetooth to the car, I only switch on my phone's bluetooth & when ever I come inside the car it automatically detects & connect by itself. The fabric is also good.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox: Till date I have driven only 600 Km, in which I used it in heavy traffic as well as on high way, I found it very good. The performance of engine is very good from the mileage point but yes I found that during pick it don't give a quick response, it takes time for 2-3 secs but after that it really shows its power. But from the power point, it really compete with Honda City.

Ride Quality & Handling: Ride quality is also very good. This car seems big in size but while handling on the road, it is very comfortable in heavy taffic as well as on High Ways. While driving on High way I touched a speed of 130 & at that speed the car was in total control of mine.

Final Words: Its best in its class with fuel efficiency, its ride quality & its comfort factor but it can be the best in its class if the quality of plastics used inside the car is improved & the exteriors can be more attractive. I selected this car only because of its features & its engine performance & I am satisfied with its performance till date. I did run this car in the hot afternoon in Last week of April & the outside temp was 42-45 degrees but inside the car it was chilling without any sunscreen on the glasses. Overall its a family car & value for money.

Areas of improvement: Only the interiors can be much more better by using good quality of plastics & exterior design can be more attractive. Till date I have run only 600 kms therefore till date there is not much I found but I will add my comments once I will further point out from the engine part & from the economy part.

Compfort, Space, Fuel economy, car Handling quality, Interiors & most important EngineQuality of Plastic used in the Car.

Exterior Looks are subjective. I can only say Tata Manza has all right exterioirs.  The paint quality is good. The stance is high but on a whole a good looking car

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) I will give 100/100 here.  except for the fact that you knees and leg front touches the plastic panel below the steering.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Fantastic.  Just yesterday we drove all way from Faridabad to Chandigarh & back (636 km) my instantaneous mileage showed 25 km/liter whereas average once did climb up to 20 Km/Lit but has now finally settleed to 17.5 km/lit.  Please note yesterday was a very bad day to drive - heavy rainfall and the entire route is kind of under construction everywhere.  So lots of stappages & diversions.  Still an average of 17.5 is good.

      Ride Quality & Handling

After 120 km / hour you feel you are sitting in a boat.  It is a funny feeling but not at all frightning.  I think it is a matter of getting used to.  But on a whole the ride quality is superb.

Final Words Tata Motors have really done a great job in Manza.  Just go ahead and buy this car.  I am sure you (like me) won't regret.  Buy only the deisel Quadrajet.  The petrol version is underpowered.

Areas of improvement Probably the car is not designed for very high speeds.  A good cruiser.  A good family car.  Moreover in India it is dangerous to go above 100km/hour speed, anyway.  Still Tata Motors may check what happens to Manza after 120km/hour speed is reached.  A little improvement here is required.

VFM. Has all that u needAt sppeds above 120km/hour one gets a feeling of sitting in a boat

      Exterior

Great exteriors the Build quality is great . The back bumper is a little too soft without any reinforcement/ support hence is too soft. The paint work is also good though the paint below the under surfaces is not even

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Interiors are great- The quality of speakers (Malysian Make) should have been better and the ABS version should have tweeters inbuilt. The plastics on the door handles, switches etc can be better but what is currently fitted is not as bad as it is made to be. The handling of doors need to be improved- Closing of the front door is a little harder for me

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

The engine is great and so is the sound proofing. The only thing that may be irking for users is that we may need to shift gears to get a punch of power and the car does not like to be pushed too hard. But one gear down zoom it goes... However it is a family car

      Ride Quality & Handling

Suspension and ride quality are really really good. I have driven and also been a back seat of a Punto and Dzire and have been really impressed the way the Manza's back seat handles its occupants. The leg room and head room are also great

      Final Words

The car is VFM and the engine, Build quality etc are all great and the looks too are very good. However the so called enemies of Tata are not my target. Just wanted to tell it was a good buy. It is a way too great than what DZire is. These are words by a DZire owner who happened to travel with me on the Manza

      Areas of improvement

      As mentioned above -

      1. The back bumper is a little too soft without any reinforcement/ support hence is too soft. The paint work is also good though the paint below the under surfaces is not even

      2. The handling of doors need to be improved- Closing of the front door is a little harder for me

Space, Performance and Comfort, FeaturesSome fit and finish needs some improvement but is good- Not comparable with a Merc

Exterior The car has nice exterior, giving it the look of a big car, thas robust yet styled and sleek.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The space is enough to pack a house, the seats are comfortable and seat covers are good.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Diesel engine is quick and smoother than many other competitors, mileage is 20.6 kph with a/c on all the times on a trip of 4200 kms. the power is sufficient to touch 150 kph. acceleration is good. diesel engine does have some sound but is far superior (fiat make). low maintenance engine.

Ride Quality & Handling Smooth till 120- 130, very stable, you have to keep the rpm of the vehicle correct to get the max out of the vehicle. it has a turbo which cuts in at 1800 rpm. the car runs below you after that! correct gear corresponding to the speed and rpm and the vehicle is a monster!! suspension is fine. turning radius is good. clearance from speed breakers is superb!!!

Final Words Just buy it. it's better than ford fiesta, dezire, probably Linea too!!!

Areas of improvement Dealers pull up your socks. TATA, be consumer friendly!!! improve upon your interiors further!!!

mileage, space, style, comforttata learn to do better where you think you did best!!!

this tata is a great car & I really didnt expect such a nice work, ive even tested it. It has got the front end of the indica vista with some chrome slats on the grille & has an extended wheelbase The interiors are colossal.First when I looked at it I thought that like all tatas the fit & finish will be horrible but I was wrong, its fit & finish is a surgical precision . Its also equipped with usb ,2din music system etc. It engine feels lively but performance is not that good.it reaches 100 kmh in 13.7 secs (i gave the stopwatch to my friend) & the top speed is in the mid 160s.it even handles well but has some amount of bodyroll.it has a lot of legroom &can swallow 5 large adultsstyling, interiors, huuuge improvement since last gen indigoesnervously arrives at bumps

I strongly feel that Tata Manza will never be able to match the quality of Toyota. I purchased a Manza in Feb'10. Ever since I bought this, I am facing lot of minor problems. Wherever, there is a spring - clutch pedal, suspension, inside the seats they all make noises even when there is a small jerk while driving. The quality of the plastics are very poor. Often the door lever fails to open. In the promo they were giving big hype that the car was very smoothly travels at 140/150 kmph. But in my car even when the car touches 110, there was a heavy rattling noise from the boot area.

Service is one of the poorest. I gave the vehicle for 2nd service, giving 7 to 10 complaints. They returned the car after 2 days under the pretext that service booking was heavy and they had to attend all the faults. But none of the major complaint was attended. Moreover, when I took back the car the upholstery and entire inside was dirty. They wanted to give a rating for the service. Obviously I gave min. marks. Immediately after that I started to receive more than 2/3 calls both from the local as well as head office at Pune enquiring about the complaints, but ultimately nobody bothered to rectify the defects.

In all I am totally unsatisfied with Tata Manza.

Exterior : Manza looks appealing. The car is bigger in height and getting into the seats is so easy. Wheel diameter is 15', so no problem of rubbing speedbrakers.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) : Spacious cabin. Rear seat is wide and comfortable that it can hold 3 big persons. Head room, leg room, knee room, shoulder room and all types of rooms are very generous. Rear seat’s armrest is an added comfort. Noiseless cabin even at higher speeds.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox : Engine is well refined and thrills after 1800 rpms and gives an average of 16kmpl(diesel).

Ride Quality & Handling : Smooth and easy. Absorbs all shocks.

Final Words : TATA has succeeded in bringing a luxurious car in a small price tag.

Areas of improvement : The VGT(Variable Geometry Turbocharger) could have been made to work even from 1000-1800 rpms, so as to make the engine more responsive in city traffic and while passing speedbrakers.
