        Specifications

        • Engine & Transmission

          • Engine
            1405 cc, 4 Cylinders Inline, 2 Valves/Cylinder

Timely services will keep a motor efficient and in top shape.

          • Engine Type
            Turbo Charged with Intercooler

The official title given by the manufacturer in terms of the name of the engine, the displacement and the number of cylinders.

A bigger displacement and more than four-cylinders generally indicate a performance-oriented engine.

          • Fuel Type
            Diesel

All cars in India either run on petrol, diesel, CNG, LPG or electric power.

          • Max Power (bhp@rpm)
            70@4500

Gives a good idea of the performance of the vehicle under full thrust. A higher figure here usually means a higher top speed as well.

Higher the power, the peppier the engine but it can also affect fuel economy.

          • Max Torque (Nm@rpm)
            132@2500

Relates to in-gear acceleration. A higher figure here means better roll-on acceleration, fewer gear shifts, and possibly better fuel efficiency.

The more torque at low RPM range makes the engine feel more responsive. It also allows the engine to run smoothly without too many gear changes.

          • Mileage (ARAI)
            12.82 kmpl

This is the maximum fuel efficiency that an engine gives. All numbers are provided by the manufacturer based on tests conducted and specified by the standards of the ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India)

Such fuel efficiency attained while driving in special conditions makes it unlikely to get it in real-world conditions

          • Drivetrain
            FWD

Cars come with different drivetrain configurations depending on the segment.

Front-wheel drive (FWD) is most common in mainstream cars while expensive cars or SUVs come with rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD).

          • Transmission
            Manual - 5 Gears

Type of transmission used to transfer power from the engine to the wheels

A manually operated transmission is the most popular type, thanks to its simplicity and low cost. Varied types of automatic transmissions are also available.

        • Dimensions & Weight

          • Length
            4158 mm

The length of the car decides its segment. In India, cars that are less than 4 metres in length enjoy reduced excise duties.

Longer length results in more cabin space. It also adds to straight line stability.

          • Width
            1625 mm

A car's width is defined as its widest point without its mirrors.

Although more width gives you more lateral space inside the cabin, it makes the car more difficult to park in narrow spots.

          • Height
            1575 mm

The height of the car denotes the highest point of the vehicle from the ground.

Taller the car, the more headroom there is on offer inside the cabin. However, a tall boy stance also affect the car’s centre of gravity which can cause more body roll.

          • Wheelbase
            2450 mm

The space between the center of the front and rear wheels.

The longer the wheelbase, the more space there is inside the cabin.

        • Capacity

          • Doors
            5 Doors

The number of doors define the category of car. For example – four door means sedan, two-door means coupe while five-doors usually refer to a hatchback, MPV or an SUV.

          • Seating Capacity
            5 Person

The number of people that can be seated comfortably in the car, which has also been mandated by the car manufacturer.

          • Fuel Tank Capacity
            42 litres

The official volume of the fuel tank of a car, usually denoted in litres.

If a car has a large fuel tank, it can cover long distances without refuelling.

        • Suspensions, Brakes, Steering & Tyres

          • Front Suspension
Independent, lower wishbone, McPherson strut, with anti-roll bar

Almost all cars in India use an independent front suspension which is usually the MacPherson Strut type.

          • Rear Suspension
Independent, 3-link, McPherson strut, with anti-roll bar and gas-filled dampers

The rear suspension can either be non-independent or independent.

Most of the budget cars have non-independent suspension while the more expensive ones get independent rear suspension which offers better bump absorption.

          • Front Brake Type
            Disc

Most of the vehicles sold in India get ventilated or non-ventilated disc brakes upfront.

            - The ventilated discs are more popular thanks to them providing better stopping power and it also works well in hot conditions.

          • Rear Brake Type
            Drum

In affordable cars, drums brakes are fitted at the rear as they are cost effective.

Disc setup at the rear is now getting more popular as cars are getting faster in the real world.

          • Minimum Turning Radius
            5 metres

The official kerb-to-kerb minimum radius a car takes to complete a 180-degree turn.

Shorter the turning radius, the lesser space you need to make a tight turn or to take a U-turn.

          • Front Tyres
            175 / 65 R14

The profile/dimension of rubber tyre that fits on the front wheels.

        Features

        • Braking & Traction

          • Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)
            No

An electronic system that prevents the tyres from locking and skidding in emergency braking situations by pulsing the brakes (quickly releasing and reapplying the brakes)

ABS is a great accident prevention technology, allowing drivers to steer while braking hard

            No

This feature let's one unlock all the doors remotely or with a key

Indigo Marina (LS BS III) City Mileage (without a/c) – 19.65 kmpl Highway Mileage (without a/c)- 22.5 kmpl City Mileage (with a/c) – 14.03 kmpl Highway Mileage (without a/c)- 17.5 kmpl It took me almost 2 years to get these magical figures. At last all my hard work paid off and I can say that my car is probably the only Marina that gives such a g8 mileage. One more thing, there is no power lag below 2000 rpm i.e. even without turbo getting activated, during pickup it behaves like a petrol engine. Some more facts about mileage: During my visit from Rudraprayag to Kedarnath and back I got a mileage of 16.35 Kmpl at one of the most dangerous hilly roads in India (frequent landslides) and during my visit to Mana (the last village on Indian side on India China border, if I would have done another 45 kms I would have reached China) and dangerous roads via Nandprayag (including one of the most steepest hilly roads between Govindghat and Badrinath where you have to take your car up at first gear, with water from waterfalls overflowing on the road, thereby your tyres almost 30% submerged in water) and back I got a mileage of around 13.52 kmpl. Tips: Get all the genuine parts for your diesel pump. Only visit a mechanic who along with engine work also knows how to do setting of diesel pump. Keep the tyre pressure at 35 psi. Use engine treatment during oil change (drastically reduces friction and engine overheating)G8 mileage, spacious interior, g8 exterior luks, supr chilld ac,tiredless drivin during long journySuspension needs to be more strong

        • TATA-MARINA "FIR B DIL HAI HINDUSTAANI". Tata marina is good a very very good vehical for family. G
TATA-Marina is a good car. I have 2005, LS model and completed 53000 km. Fitted power window by own. A very gud vehical for highway driving. Very comfortabe. My longest drive was 650 km apx in a day(Gurgaon to Salasar and back). At the end of my journey i feel very happy to see the performance in term of fuel economy (18~20 kmpl) and comfort level. No tiredness at the end of journey. Good controlling, but some where pickup was less w.r.t other cars. This type of models are not so liked in our country due to the size. But once you will get the driving experience defenitely you will like it. Value for money in this segment. Style is also good. AC performance is supper. Ground clearance is less.  TATA should increase the height.  Normally people think's that TATA vehicals have more maintenance, this is not true. Re-Sale value is low...but...Overall I m happy with my car.   Thanx, Vikas Narwal(Gurgaon)  Good fuel economy getting 18~21 on highway with AC. Style is also goodPickup is less during starting

        • An INDIAN car for the INDIAN family for INDIAN roads. Great value for money.
In short, great value for money. I am getting an average of 14.7 km to a litre of diesel in the city which increases to an impressive 19 kmpl on the highway provided I cruise between 80 and 90 kmph. I like the power steering and the very effective airconditioning. The car could do with better interiors though. Some of the plastic switches/buttons such as the air conditioning etc are of very poor quality. The suspension is optimised for Indian roads. Tata would do well to address the problem of rough running at low revs and the sluggish acceleration when the engine is running below 2000 RPM.Good fuel economy, great internal volume, crisp power steering, powerful airconPoor acceleration below 2000 RPM, engine runs rough at low revs, low fuel tank ground clearance
