Toyota Corrolla is my  6th car, first  starting from Primer Padmini to  Maruti,  Palio, Hyundai Accent  and so on. I guess it is the best in this segment & gives full value for money.  The pick up is great, steering  very  comfortable sharp.  Milage gives more than 14+ KPL on highway with AC on. Always feel safe as it has Air bags.

Clutch was a bit hard, but got adjusted. Doors need a big bang like our  Fiat old cars, but never mind they are pretty strong to take the impact.

Dear Mohan, I have driven more than 2 lac Km in India, bt yet to find a safe road in India to drive consistent 120 Kph. (including the best Toll Roads constructed). Secondly the traffic sense of users is very poor and do not risk my and my family's life going more than 100 Kph. Suggest you also to do the same.

Hi Mohan... Spoilers work only above 200 kmph

I agree with this review in all respects except the one regarding closing of the doors. In may case also my 2005 Carolla H5 is my sixth car following the same sequence except the Hyundai Accent. My last car before this was a Palio which again was pleasure to own. But this Carolla with its bigger engine and other features is returning a mileage much better than the Palio. But still at speeds exceeding 130 kph, my Carolla feels a little unstable. Can a rear spoiler solve this issue? Mohan

Corolla's gear shifting, pick up, engine noise and the brake leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. Cruising at a speed of 120 kmph you will feel just great about the car and makes it a great value for money. Another thing i wanted to say, while at reasonable speed, if you keep the windows open the fuel consumption is same as when you drive with AC on (and obviously windows closed. and i have consistently got above 13.5 kmpl in highways.

I am thinking of buying the basic HE model. Has the new model been introduced, to your knowledge? And what make and model do you suggest for a wireless remote controlled multi CD player changer? Thanks

Dear Renjith, I suggest you take a test drive of Corolla. Since I have no experience of Honda City, I can not comment.

The matter being I already have a Honda City 1.5 Exi(old one).So will it be wise to change over to Toyota??

Renjith on 07 Apr, 2008 at 12:29 AM

Hi Pramod, Please advise if its okay to go for a Jun 2005 1.8J.I'm planning for one Renjith

In my opinion Corolla in any case is my preferred choice. But going for 2nd hand, one has to be careful on the car real condition and it's usage by first owner.
