Exterior There's a lot of Camry in the New Altis. And I absolutely love the Camry! The front looks like it is smilingly devilishly! Some people dislike the rear, but I actually have come to really appreciate the rear LED Taillights! The new ones are really stunning, with better design in the internal lighting arrangement.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) It has pretty much everything one would expect. The spaciousness is simply amazing. The leather seats with perforation are a beauty. The DVD touchscreen is also absolutely feauture rich. You can manually control the positioning of the sound. The sound quality is wonderful and more than enough for most people. The auto climate control is a nifty feature. The electrically adjustable and retractable OVRM are a joy to play with. Completely adjustable, I tell you. The internal Electrochromatic anti-glare mirror is really handy and makes night driving so much easier. THe HID Headlamps in my top end variant have a massive spread area and are really effective as well. The headlamp washers are pretty handy actually, though I was initially sceptical. The 8-way power driver seat is simply amazing. The lumbar support for the driver allows you to expand and compress the seat. The interiors are absolutely stylish and give a rich feel. There is adequate boot space-475 litres. There is plenty of storage space in the compartments inside as well.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The 1.8 L petrol engine is absolutely silent. You can barely hear it. Initially, we had trouble recognizing whether the engine is on or not. You get used to the quietness of the engine soon. The fuel economy is decent for my atuomatic variant. I am quite happy with the fuel economy—about 9 kmpl in the city, and 14 on the highway. The 7 speed autobox is an absolute joy to drive. It is extremely responsive, unlike previous version of the Corolla Altis. There is also a "Sport" mode, which is handy for suddent overtaking. The previous Altis automatic version had a rubber-band effect when the car changed gears, which was really annoying. BUT in this version there is absolutely no feel of it whatsoever. The change is smooth and yet responsive. The previous lag in the Altis has been corrected by Toyota. The auto-transmission is a true boon in the traffic of Mumbai. Such a pleasure and stressless driving.

Ride Quality & Handling Simply super smooth. I received my Altis on Aug 9th, and have completed over 900 km with 600 km highway drive. The car has given me no reason to complain. During high speed turns, there was hardly any bodyroll, which increased my confidence in the car. It simply glides on the roads. The suspensions are just awesome and gobble up most potholes with ease. The ground clearance is a plus point. Parking sensors make parking a lot easier.

Final Words If you are willing to spend a little extra for umpteen comforts and superb driving, along with the premium Toyota brand image and excellent after sales service (I received reminder about my first servicing today, quite happy), within the 14-18 lakhs bracket, then Corolla Altis is for you. Go ahead and buy it without any hesitation. It will not disaapoint you at all.

Areas of improvement The only things I wish would have come standard in the top end 1.8VL variant are the rear-view camera, which I installed seprately. Also, the standard fitted parking sensors are only 2 and positioned in the middle, I would suggest Toyota to fit 4 sensors to cover the entire back area. Also, I would have loved 6 airbags; there are only 2 airbags, unfortunately.

Excellent looks, awesome features, premium brand image, decent fuel economyNO rear view camera, only 2 SRS Airbags.

i went to a toyota dealer in delhi (uttam toyota) for the booking, i need the car in december but i went on 6th of sep because i need it on a particular day in dec. i asked them to do a booking for me for 10 thousands and my booking was not done because they said we are not doing any booking for not less than 50thousands. now why any one will give 50 thousands to them without any interest and that to for 4 months. i wanted to be on the safe side for the time of delivery that is why i wanted to do this. honda is doing their booking for civic for 10 thousands and that too is refundable. all toyota dealers were sitting idel befoure and they could not find even a fly to kill now their nakhray oh my god. i wounder if corolla failed to meet its sales for any reason these are the same dealers who will start doing all bookings for 10 thousands. i m very disappointde with their work manner. all other than that car is very good and looks stunning. one more thing if u see civic and corolla they are same in size but by civic design it looks smaller than corolla and civic boot is also small(405 liters) where as corolla has much larger boot(475 liters) if u see this then u will come to know the diff. headlight washer jets are not of any use at all. i have a baleno and a optra and i am driving since 8 years and i never had to come out of my car to clean the headlamp in day or night, and one more thing washer jets only throw water on the lamps they cant clean mud on them there is no viper or any thing like that. water also makes the car dirty from the front because when it dryes it leaves long marks with dust also on the front of the car.

i will recomend to go for the g model because there is not much diff in features but a price diff of 1.35 lacs.

every thing is goodwhindsheld is small causing poor visiblity and door morrors are also small

I purchased the car 1.8GL on Oct-1st 2008 and so far I have clocked approx. 8000 Kms. I am pleased with overall experience. Very easy to handle,  bad roads no problem, it can handle them better than the Honda Civic (thanks to Altis's better ground clearence). The interiors are great and the engine performance is also wonderful. The engine is a typical toyota - very smooth, quiet and packed with power. With 132 BHP its very easy to overtake any other vehicle. The music system with 6-CD changer is excellent, the switches are very convinently placed on the stearing wheel (I wish the music system remote control storage was given for the rear seats and also that there was the provision of USB input). One can see Toyota did spend lot of time to get many small storage places...very innovative. Needless to talk about the style, I simply loved the "Mini Camry" looks . It certainly looks much more upmarket than a Civic or previous Corolla. Personally I find Altis pretier than even Laura. Seats in rear are treat - very comfortable (though I wish there was a cell phone charger in the rear)....and if you are driver, 8 ways power adjustable seat is just for your delight. So far, I am very happy with its fuel efficiency ranging between 11.5 - 12 KM/Liter in Gurgaon / Delhi city traffic. On highway, I have been the milage of approx. 13.5 KM/Liter. All this backed by superb Toyota confidence, I am enjoying it. There was a small issue with the breaking noise initially, however Toyota was able to fix it to my satisfaciton quickly. Though, I miss the parking sensors as an standard equipment and also at times I wish that the outside rear view mirrors could have been larger, I will certainly recommend this car to anyone.

One dissatisfaction though...I had not so great experience with the services given by Grace Toyota, Gurgaon. Had it been any other company's dealership, I would have been ok, but from the word Toyota with their name, I expected better service & responses to my issues. My idea is to share the disappointment and hence I am withdrawing more details related to what went wrong from their side.  Having said this, I am assuming that this was one off case specially when they are new dealership at Gurgaon.  I have no intentions to create problems for them in already very competitive market. In past, I was getting calls from their new customer relationship manager asusring me of good services and therefore, I could see an effort from their side. I am sure sooner or later this focus will be translated in better service quality.

Excellent Styling / Classic Looks, Value for Money, Ground Clearence, Interiors, Fuel EfficiencyLack of Parking sensor as standard equipment, Small outside rear view mirrors

I bought this car in Jan 09 and done almost 5000 kms, Suddenly its music system has started creating problems for me. display for music system  disappears after 30 mins of engine running and you have to restart the car to get it back.

I also drive a Honda City Zx , there is big diffrence in stability at high speeds.Corolla is very stable at high speeds. You are in perfect control at 150-160 km/hr. It has firm road grip than City. City tends to feather weight at 160 km/hr

Good fuel economy approx 12 km/pl.

Very comfortable to drive on highways and city.

Lack of color choices for customers.

I just love its engine roaring !!!!!

Ground Clearance, comfortable to drive , good fuel economyMusic System, Noisy engine

Exterior Cute from behind and muscular in the front. Its beautiful.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) All it has comfort space, elegance .The best in its class.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox A 1400 cc engine gives better performance than a innova and top speed of exceeding 180, It does 0-100 in 13.5 seconds while a innova does it in 17.5 secs.So the engine being less powerful performs well. Very stable on highways. It has a six speed gearbox which helps it to achieve top speeds above 180.Combined with a amazing fuel economy of 18-20kmpl and 22 on highways.

Ride Quality & Handling The best in class ride and handling which is the specialisation of a toyota.I own a toyota for more than 5 yrs and even a altis. Final YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH A TOYOTA.

Final Words Go for it without a secongd thought because nothing is better than toyota at this price range upto 20 lakhs.

Areas of improvement Toyota should also launch a more powerful diesel engine with competion.to the cruze and the laura. Remember power and fuel economy are inversel proportional. Options of diesel engines should be increased. Laura, cruze and othe powerful sedans do not have average above 8-11kmpl.Whereas corolla has an average of 20kmpl.

A toyota with its quality, comfort and performance wins all hearts across the globenot any.Never expect it from a toyota

The 10th generation Corolla is the best in it's catogery and offers all the luxry, royal looks of Merc C class, A4 and BMW 3 series for half the price. It's lilke a dream come true when I bought Altis AT and am really enjoying the ride. I have chekced the fuel comsuption and it's certainly giving more than 9 KMPL( close to 10 ) in  the busy roads of Hyderabad city. We can't compare this to Civic ( Civic offers more sporty looks and lacks the royal touch of new Altis).  Body is tough with lot's steel in it. I recommend this car who likes to enjoy the luxry with royal looks. About other specs, features and quality, I can simply say that they are truly  Toyota Standards.

Great Style, Royal LooksIt should have come with 5 speed AT instead of 4

Altis is really a great car. Although I am fan of Honda as I drove Civic in US and I loved it. But when I tooktes t drive in India (Civic) I felt the seat is very low and I could hardly see the bonnet. And due to this I felt little uncomfortable in driving. Whereas in Altis I felt as I am in SUV and very comfortable. Just after one test drive I bought this car. In traffic like Bangalore I am getting 10.5 mileage. I own 1.8G. No fuss in shifting gears even in heavy traffic. A good ground clearance which u really need with Indian roads. Music system is great. AC is very effective. Great interiors and useful features. Not to mention...great on looks. Iam not comparing with civic as it's a personal choice.

I waited for this kind of car and I am really happy as it was worth.

Great on style, performance, good fuel economy, great comforts, great carnothing

      Good things first.
      1. Compared to the competition, this car is real value for money. I bought mine in Jan and cost me 11 lacs on road (in Delhi).
      2. Primarily used by my dad and driven by a chauffeur, provides excellent comfort.
      3. Climate control and the inbuilt music system are great. Lots of boot space.
      4. Electrically controlled ORVM
      5. Toyota Brand Name and value. Low owneship cost.
      6. Refreshing looks though a little subdued.

But having said that, the car has its bit of problems. I didn't find the engine too great. Its powerful and all and beats a lot of competition on the road but its not refined. The engine is very choppy and you get a lot of shocks at low speeds. I also own a Honda City ZX (Gxi) and the engine on that one is superb. Its smaller and less powerful but it drives absolutely superbly. I also hate the seatbelt warning buzzer. Sometimes you want to take the car for short spins and the buzzer gives you a headache. Safety feature I know but this is just me.
Comfort, Looks, Features, Toyota Brand NameEngine is a little choppy

Toyota has presented a car to the customer which has given all the luxuries and comfort at an affordable price. In the price tag of Rs 13,00,000 we are getting the comfort and convenience of accord and camry.Even the interiors of camry looked outdated in front of the refreshing altis. However, the exterior looks cannot compete with the civic or the accord. But the biggest plus point is the higher ground clearance which is a must for indian roads.Self driving is a pleasure.Turning radius is also very good so driveability in city is comfortable and convenient. The missing power seat for front copassenger is not a big issue.AC is damn good.Deck and sound quality is awesome.Lot of stowage space in car.Gear shifting is smooth and effortless.Steering wheel is feather light.Wooden paneling and leather upholstery add to elegance. The white headlamps at night gives an expensive car feeling to the people staring at the car.The car looks great in sky blue colour.Three can sit comfortably at the rear seat and no compromise for centre person because of flat floor. There is no problem with the windshield and the side mirrors. But the driver has to adjust his seat accordingly so that the front of the car is visible.Toyota as we all know is one of the best car manufacturing brands of the world so it did not take much time to think before purchasing one. I would definitely recommend this car as the new accord and civic are giving the look of a sporty car meant for youngsters rather than a luxurious and elegant family car.

best car in its classno cons

      hello,

i just went & had a test drive for altis.

the exteriors are good & look classy. from front it seems that toyota has put an image of camry, from back also it has been nicely done, the tail lamps have led lamps & are bright.

u step inside & feel the luxurious cabin, it has been very well done & fit & finish is up to he mark. there is wooden all around too add to that luxurious looks. the seats are leather & are soft & comfortable. the space for rear passengerrs is also very good & with the flat floor in the middle it seems more comfortable.

the steering has all the controls including music system & all MID functions. the music player is 6cd mp3 & is of a good quality. AC is automatic climate control & easy on functioning. the storage space is nice & there are 2 glove compartments which looks also nice & will be of rwal use & help too. the front armrest is sliding & u can adjust it for ur perfect driving posture. steering is tilt & telescopic.

now come to ride & it feels good on roads, soaks up the bumps well & the it has EPS (electronic power steering) which feels good in city & is easy to drive. i tested both manual & AT but found automatic much more peppier & fun to drive, u just press the throttle & the rpm needle will go upto the redline without any hassle & u need the required power when u want. it has 8 way power seats for which u can set ur perfect driving position in whatever way u want & it was good & the view of the road also comes good from the cabin. it has HID lighs with power washers & there is a cruise control in AT too which is very easy to use but it will be of no use for our type of roads. i dint got the chance to test its high spped stability but i clocked about 120 & the car was fine but at more high speeds the EPS can give a light feel which i think should not be there & at more high speeds the steering should give more better feel.

i feel that in AT there should be 5 gears instead of 4 & it has sequential mode too, so whenever u want u can make ur car a manual.

overll the car is very good & found it better than the civic.

good features & stylein A/T there should be an 5 speed gear box
