Hi . . This is santosh , hyderabad .. I have a outlander !! And today i 've checked the fortuner ... It was my dream car since 4years ,,, waited for almost 3yrs , and decided to buy outlander as i wanted a luxury petrol suv ....oct 2008 .. 1st car in hyd .. 5th in india ..
Fortuner look wise awesome .. But today when 've checked the interiors and the drive .... And pricing of on road 23lakhs .... Its not a suv worth for a 23lac ... With no inner features ,,
no automatic , no cruise control , no shiftings 2wd to 4wd , nothing great abt the interiors ... Just the out look ... People will definetly go for it as its a diesel . . .
If it was onroad priced for 18lac .. Then definetly worth for it ...
And this suv can never be compared with any of land cruisers ... Yes can definetly be compared with endeavour , safari , captiva ...

Dr Rahul: There's a Nissan Patrol, Jeep Wrangler and a SWB Pajero apart from the Fortuner in the pics. The Black one is a Nissan Patrol - a truly capable SUV and quite popular in the UAE.

It will negotiate ruts and then some more. Cant do the extreme stuff and is not really built to take a lot of abuse, thats all. Here are some pics from our trips (these are the 4 litre Petrol V6s, not the diesels):

Charles: You've asked a tough question :(
Good ones:

3)
The best is .... It has a peculiar background. If feel this pic is between computer generated image and the real one. :D

@ Ami - we're working on a more elaborate Fuel Efficiency format and you'll see them appearing in a lot more detail which will add to the credibility of our tests.
@ Steeroid - The Fortuner does seem quite large here, since we are at the end of the day, in hatchback land. But yes, it does have plenty of presence and does have Toyota's high quality exterior fit and finish. The interiors do seem to leave us wanting for more, in terms of some panel fit and the features. Since we had the vehicle with us for less than 24 hours we couldn't really take it to our favourite off-road trail. Plus, we needed a support 4x4 - which we didn't have on the day of the review and as we all know, the first rule of off-roading is never to venture alone!
We do hope to get the Fortuner back to do a complete run on a trail which will really show how capable the Fortuner is off-road. With the torquey engine, good ground clearance and a high enough exhaust it should be able to cross streams and negiotiate ruts like it were child's play! Stay tuned
