Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG road test : Gentleman thug

Buy this car if you've already acquired an oil well and a trailer truck. We're saving up for that oil well.

Introduction
Have you ever had your beliefs proven wrong? Not petty beliefs like the one that tells you the grass is always greener on the neighbour’s lawn, but more like listening to Copernicus tell you that you – we, us – aren’t at the center of the universe. Something else is. That’s what you feel like when you fire up the 6.2-litre crossplane V8 of the Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG. Put the key in the ignition slot, turn it to the ‘on’ position. Watch the needles of the analog dials perform a dainty sweep right across their faces: clockwise, counterclockwise. Wait a beat. There are no start/stop button shenanigans here, turn the key further, hear that engine burst into life, watch everyone around out of the corner of your eyes – they’ve stopped doing whatever it is they’re doing; pumping gas, drinking tea, administering CPR, whatever; and are listening to the offbeat burble of that mighty engine. As you pull out of the parking lot, you know that that engine is the center of the universe. And you are controlling it with every twitch of your right foot.

Power, refinement

Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too? I recommend two for you: The Touareg V12 TDI, LM002, Unimog and Wildcat. They should put that oil rig to good use, what say?

Wonderful photos Vrushali, Great writeup Charles...

I envy you guys for driving such wonderful cars. I am not at all a car freak, my taste is something which has a 4x4 and ample of ground clearance for rock climbing, but after seeing such beauty in action, I am tempted to change my taste.

O gods of JEEPistan, forgive me for such a sin but I can't resist it. If anyone sees such a beautiful car in front of him, he is bound to get attracted. I have started saving for an Oil rig.

LOLZ......

I envy you too...Is there a vacancy in your office Wink

Charles hain isliye maaf kiya. :)

Regarding the interiors, I think it would be better if the pictures were taken from the center rather than little from the side. Like how it was taken for Xylo. Barring the interiors, she has done a commndable job. The beauty of the car has been captured quite well.

Ami, motion pictures are taken by Charles, so beat him! Or maybe I was too excited to drive it at a speed instructed by these fellas! :P

As far as interior shots are concerned, they were taken at 3PM, in full sunshine. We again tried in the night (around 9:30PM). Considering the circumstances, I wouldn't blame Vrushali.

Yes, that is Banwari driving the car in the motion shot, and Vrushali's next to him. I took that shot from an accompanying car. I could write reams about the car, but not in road-test form! :)

I don't usually let anyone take my pic with the cars I drive, but I didn't pass up the opportunity with this one. Here it is:

OMG!!!

Lucky you. The max I've seen is a 2 seater convertible. I guess the SLK.

BTW did Ban get to drive the car. I think it is him in the car and you are missing in the pics.

I did want to read more.

OT: Dude, we have lot of pending TD's. Vista Saffire, i20, Linea petrol etc etc. Its been a long long time. :)

@Vrushali: Awesome job done. Especially this and this.

However, Do improve the motion captures and the interior pics.
