01-Feb,2008New Delhi: General Motors India has registered a robust growth of 46 % in sales in January 2008 as compared to the corresponding period last year. It sold 5517 units in January 2008 as against 3776 units in January last year. The January 2008 sales comprise of 1391 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 1174 units of Chevrolet Aveo, 217 units of Chevrolet Optra, 2639 units of Chevrolet Spark and 96 units of the recently launched Chevrolet Captiva.
Commenting on the impressive sales performance in January, Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President, GM India said, “The consistent surge in monthly sales is a clear indication of the success of all our carlines and demonstrates the fact that our flagship brand Chevrolet has been well accepted by the market and is growing from strength to strength. With the consistent surge in monthly sales, our key focus remains to address the changing customer needs while providing them world class products and best in class service”.
GM India recently launched its state-of-the-art Chevrolet Captiva, a premium sport utility vehicle which is a combination of distinctive styling, refinement, best-in-class safety and powerful yet frugal diesel powertrain. “The Chevrolet Captiva is the latest one to join the Chevrolet bandwagon and we are pleased to see the initial market response. The Chevrolet Captiva is also receiving rave reviews from auto experts and customers alike” added, Mr. Balendran.
It may be recalled that during 2007 General Motors India witnessed a record annual growth of 68 % by clocking sales of 60,032 units in the calendar year 2007 as against 35,823 units during 2006. The company is confident of registering similar growth levels in the year 2008 as well.
