I own a WagonR for the past 8 months, and these are the pros and cons that I have observed in my car in this period. The things I like about my car. 1) Reclining seats - even the rear seats recline almost completely. So much so that you can make a bed out of the front and rear seats, very comfy if you have a loved one accompanying you on a long drive and wants to rest. 2) Dashboard - Some serious thinking from Maruti for the everyday car user here. Cubbyholes and holders all around, and hooks that can take your shopping bag! Loads of space there. 3) Driveabilty - "The car" if you live in a city with loads of traffic. Easily snakes thru traffic. Very comfortable to drive. 4) Space - Being a tall boy design, there is loads of space for the occupants. But the car is made for four people only (including the driver). so add one more person at the back, and you are looking for some joint and back pain if you plan to go outside the city. Now the cons: 1) Side mirrors are a joke. They are more like shaving mirrors than rear view mirrors. I am currently evaluating options to replace them with sensible rear view mirrors. 2) Space for speakers - well, there isnt any. Finally mounted the rear speakers on the back door of the car, and there is no space at all for the 12" subwoofer that I was planning to install. Sad. 3) The build is a tad tinny. What with Maruti employing (probably) the same sheet metal for the WagonR as the 800... Thanks for reading my review. HTH.Reclining seats, dashboard design, breezy driveability, spaceside mirrors, no space for speakers, tinny build

I own a brand new maruti suzuki wagonR.but i will try to give an unbiased review so that u all can make a good choice of yours.1st of all let me tell u not any of the cars available in the market is perfect.u have to sacrifice something on the cost of another.make sure what u really want in ur car.

      ADVANTAGES of wagonR over others

1.gigantic space in its class:-so that whole family can travel together and comfortably.

2.more than enough headroom and legroom:-tall persons can accomodate easily.

3.huge boot space:-very helpful in long drives.

4.k-series mpfi engine:-new technology provides more power in less cost.i get a min of 15kmpl and max of 19kmpl on highways.(india's most fuel efficient cars, according to maruti.)

5.responsive power steering and efficient cable type gear box:-ease of roaming around in cities where each inch matters.power steering is so smooth that at times i can even turn my vehicle  with one finger.gear shiftting takes place with ur hands feather touch(even the rear gear).

6.sensitive throtle:-yes this car pays attention to every little movement on accelarator.i can assure u that this car will not show any significant/noticable drop of power during uphill or on full a.c.

7.better shock absorber:-shock absorbers r better than estilo or astar.comfortable ride under low speed.

8.intelligent and innovative space discovery:-a)in vxi variant ample spaceis given under front passenger seat.

b)driver and front passenger cup holder

      c)floor console can accomodate a 2ltr bottle.

9.cheap spare parts:-in comparision to chevrolet or hyundai, spare parts of maruti are cheaper.

10.good value for money and resale value:-in india maruti is still the most renowned company, though many foreign companies have invaded the market.i think maruti customers r always satisfied for the value they get for their hardly earned money.

DISADVANTAGES of maruti wagonr over others.

1.not so stylish in comparision to its competitors(such as i10 or a beat)

2.dashboard is very simple when compared.

3.plastics used inside are cheap and do not give a luxurious feeling as others.

4.not so aerodynamic:-at high speed(more than 100kmph) the car seems unstable and uncontrolable.moreover the back portion turns bumpy noticebly.

5.ac is powerful and cools within minutes but there is remarkable difference of temperature between front and rear seat.i mean if front passengers feel chilling cold then onlly rear passengers will stop complaining of hot and humid climates in summer.

      Piece of advice:

      Go for wagonR-

      1. If ur concern is space and comfort.

      2. Going to buy ur 1st car and dont want to take unnecessory risks.

      3. Belonging from simple or conservative family.

      Don't go for wagonR-

      1. When concern is look of the the car.there r many funky cars like astar or beat.

      2. Similarly, when interiors and upholstery matters much to u.

Final Words I tried to mention much points from my experience.i think this review will help u to come out of confusion and fickle-mindedness.if u face any problem u can cmnt or weite to me at muktadeepbarai@gmail.com

intenal space, headroom, legroom and bootspace r unparalled.dashboard and internal decorations r of cheap plastic.

When I started looking for a car ... i never had Wagon-R on my mind... but when my family asked me to have a test drive of the car, things changed.

What I noticed at first was that the car is not that small as it looks. When I sat on the drivers seat I found that the legroom & head room were far better than most of the cars. The high seating position gives good view of the road and makes you feel that you are in command. Even after sliding the seat back the rear passenger gets enough space. It is often regarded as a 4 seater, but believe me when I and my family sat with the dealer's representative 5 could seat easily. back seats are quite spacious. The boot space in this car is the most generous one I have seen so far... it is bigger than the swift...you can carry 2-3 big suitcases easily.

The 1065 CC engine gives great power and the pick up and handling is very well. The saleman actually showed us how easily she could go up the hill even in the third gear at low speed. Pressing the accelerator actually gives you a great sense of power underneath you.

The AC cools well and it actually started to feel cold in 10 mins. Being a tall boy design the AC cooling is not affected as suggested by many and reaches to every corner.

The body is strong and well built. The interiors are a bit dull in LXI but are better in VXI models, however the placement of cubby holes and the space on the dash board makes it a practical car for family 7 daily commuters. The new work done on the rear section, headlamps etc has improved the exteriors well.

The power steering works well and drivability is good. This car can snake through heavy traffic easily. I have learnt and done all my driving on a santro and when i first laid my hands on wagon-r what astonished me was that it is a very light vehicle to drive as compared to Santro. Power steering works well and is very light. Being an electronic power steering it takes away very little power from engine, hence contributing to the mileage.

On the down side I would have liked parcel tray & room for rear speakers which have to be fit in unconventional places. The color choices are less and you have to sacrifice with the common colors.

All in all this car is good value for money and is a good car for small families.

With the objective of buying a new car, I recently testdrove the Wangon R Lxi. Its a good car for a family of 4. Not more. And if you are planning on relatives then the kids better stay at home. It helps having a small car these days, especially ones that women can drive easily ( im married soo...), and this is one car they will surely love, maybe not for its looks but for its handling in traffic. Its a breeze. So if ur wife knows how to drive and if you feel it is a good idea to share the wheel once in a while then u shud look at this. Its much more refined than a santro in more ways than one. Here are my observations. Its got good interiors, handles well, can seat 4 comfortably (5 is a lie) and has good economy. The suspension smothers bumps reasonably well for a small car ( no where near the palio). Its easy to maintain, offers good economy and good resale. The gearshift is vague and imprecise. But u'll manage if you are a sedate driver. The engine has a good torque spread so pulling off in lower gear is not a problem even with the a/c on. The EPS takes away from the steering feel, but then this is not a sports car and so is fine. It is this feature that is a boon in traffic. The A/C is great in summer. But the blower does announce its hard work at higher speeds. Best maintained at 2 mark for a quiet cabin. Anyone taller than 5.10 and with a foot size of 9 - 10 ( im 6F) wud find the accelerator pedal placement funny. Your foot sits at a weird angle to the pedal and my ankle gave me trouble in the short 30 min span. ( is there anyone else out here who has experienced this..? ). The seats are small car like as in an Alto and dont offer great support. But thats manageable. The pedal placement in the Santro is worse, with the brake and the accelerator close to each other. Braking on the wagon is good with sure stops. Spirited driving is not what u should look for. It serves the purpose of an easy point A-B commute in the city, in space, comfort and economy and for the occasional weekend getaway with the family. Its a great car if these are your requirements. A personal suggestion, change to slightly broader tyres of the same size. It wud help its manners. The Lxi is a value for money option and make sure u get a few freebies from the dealer. Hope you found this useful. will be back with another review on another car soon. cheers! JThe new styling exterior and interior, interior space, handling in city traffic, bad accelerator pedal placement, tinny feel, sloppy gearshift

Where are the LPG Stations that Maruti had promised? Even with the CNG in Delhi there was better coordination. Its ubsurd to think of possessing a car with LPG but not knowing where to fill the gas from. The front head room is great for taller people like myself. The availability of spares, their cost & the opportunities for resale are higher than the Santro Xing BSIII.LPG would offset the rising fuel costsFront leg room & Shape of the car is a put off

I have bought a wagon r duo in oct 2010 even though i know that the model has been relaunced after being phased out. What made me make this decision? I have a daily car usage of around 60 km and after calculating the per km cost of petrol , diesel and lpg i found that lpg @ 33.75/ lit an average of 15 Km  comes to around Rs 2.25/ Km , Diesel  @ 43/lit and average of 19/lit to Rs 2.26/Km , and petrol @ 54/lit and fuel average of 19 would be Rs 2.84/ Km. That convinced me to go for the lpg model.

My budget was 3.5 to 4 lacs and looking at the options indica dls would have come to around 3.9 lacs , and new wagon r for 4 lacs.I hate diesel cars because of the poor pickup , noise and tata cars have some of the worst interior quality.diesel car would be high on maintenance and my children get uncomfortable with the diesel smell. That effectively ruled out the indica option.

Maruti has given good discount of 40000/- on the wagon r duo and with an on road price after discount  of Rs 372000/- including insurance and road taxes in aurangabad maharashtra and running cost less then petrol my option was clear.I got my car from Automotive Aurangabad and I am satisfied with their service and the fast paper work to complete formalities so that I could take possession of car on dussera day.

I looked at other LPG options and test drove all of them here is my view.

Santro Eco Drive was as comfortable as wagon r duo but pickup from 2nd to 3rd gear in lpg mode was slightly less compared to wagon r duo. price was around 420000/- and I had no reason to pay more when i had a better performance car.Maruti spares price  and service is anyway unmatched till date.

Spark LPG Car looks very small from the outside but roomy inside.performance very good but then i don't know the long term cost of ownership since there are very few spark lpg on road i have not read many reviews of the spark lpg.spares must be costly too and resale value i guess will be unknown.

Indica Xeta LPG As i have told earlier tata cars have very very poor interiors with lots of cheap plastic , ugly wiring ( there are bare electrical wires visible below the steering wheel ). tata should learn that it is not only price that matters but asethetics too. any discerning car buyer would best avoid the tata stable.performance wise nothing to write home about.

In the diwali holidays  i took my wagon r on a 500 kn trip with the family. Got an average of around 17 km/ lit of lpg.I drove the entire trip on lpg and aound 50km on petrol as the lpg got empty. On a highway and in cruise mode lpg is really smooth and you do not notice any perfromance degradation. Normally in my city drive also I never use the petrol mode and always keep the button on lpg. With the AC on and when i slow down to around 30km the engine slightly falters but who cares when you are saving money running on lpg.

Till date I have done around 1500 km and will add more to this review after I cross 5000 km.

For the new owner of the duo here are some tips. When you start the car it does on petrol by default even though the switch is on lpg. the bottom light blinks yellow which shows that it is on auto mode. If you do not raise the engine rpm it will continue to run on petrol. So if you quickly want to shift to lpg , press the clutch and rev the engine a little. there is a audible click and the light goes from blinking yellow to steady yellow. This means the car is now running on lpg.If you want to run the car on petrol press the switch to petrol mode.the light is steady red which means it is now running on petrol.

A good driving tip for high average would be do not run the car in lower gears.Go as quickly as possible to higher gears.when you are driving on the highway do not hold the accelerator pedal to a single position.keep pressing and releasing the pedal. Also a good way to avoid clucth and brakes is to anticipate a turn , a speed breaker , traffic signals from a distance and release the accelerator pedal so that when you come to that teh car has already slowed down. This would save a lot of fuel and keep the average high.

you can write to me on my mail id and i will respond to all your mails.

Before purchasing this car I tried santro as well as xeta.xeta is a big flop.Santro & WagonR both are equally good but wagon R wins in terms of looks, city driving & fuel average.I am very much satisfied by the tall boy concept. This makes it very spacious & driving is very smooth.Except for gear shifting, wagonR scores high in all the other creterias Stylish new looks,Tall boy cocept an instant hit, superb comfortInteriors not very good, gear shifting poor

First of all this one is the most spacious of the cars in its class, it has the most responsive EPS(electronic power steering) of all, an airbag in this segment is first in its class along with ABS which only a few others offer. The car is roomy, well equipped with some goodies like all 4 power windows, electronically adjustable outside mirrors, and most importantly feels very good to drive and has a great visibility all over from the driver's seat. It lack the sleekness but still has fresh and improved looks over the previous version. Really recommended for its safety features and driveability. Good value for money car and don't forget its a Maruti.Safety features like airbag, ABSBox like design

The Wagon-R was a new concept in hatch-backs in India when it was first launched, particularly for its looks. It hence took a bit of time to catch on, but by now it has grabbed the market very nicely. The kind of interior space/ leg space you have in a Wagon-R is unmatched by several sedans, and ALL small cars. The power-steering is excellent, and driving is easy. The fuel efficiency of my BS-II car is not great, but not poor either. Among the problems I have faced in the last three and half years with my Wagon-R Lxi are (1) the poor rear view mirrors, (2) lack of space in the back seat if you want to fit three people (the manual does say it is a five seater), (3)slight topsy feeling when driving on poor roads (undulating surface/ big potholes), which is probably due to the high position of the CG due to the car's height. Overall, the Wagon-R is highly recommendable for a small family, needing a city car which can take occassional long drivesComfortable, spacious, smart no-nonsense lookrear viewing is poor, actually a four-seater

i feel so sad to let you guys know that Wagon R duo proved to be a failure for me.I am a hassled guy having bought your wagon R Duo with my hard earned money 4 months back.It just refuses to work on LPG now after running for 7500 kms.Went to 2 different maruti dealers on 7 occasions but now they too have given up.Their last words were - even we cant figure out whats wrong. And what more i confirmed the same problem with three more wagon R users.I bought this car to save money and ended up loosing peace of mind as well as money, both.I have sweared to sell it off at the first possible chance and buy some other brand.

I'd certainly not recommend this car if u r thinking of a hassle free alternative fuel car.

good looks, good manouverability, intelligent facia.very weak metal body, trouble running on LPG.
