Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire is the new entry level sedan from Indian automaker Maruti Suzuki. Launched on March 26 2008, Maruti Swift DZire is based on the popular Suzuki Swift platform. Interiors

Some changes have been made to the car’s overall styling to seamlessly integrate the boot. The wheelbase remains the same. The car weighs about 30-35 Kgs more than the Swift hatchback. Few modifications in the rear suspension have been done to cope with the additional weight of the boot and improve the ride quality for the rear passengers. Adjustments in the rear seat inclination have been made to improve the rear seat comfort and legroom. The car sports a classy dashboard, integrated audio system with remote control and powerful speakers promises perfect music with the perfect drive. The steering mounted audio controls help you scroll through channels or CD numbers. With the integration of the automatic climate control option, you have to just choose the temperature you desire and the on-board computers auto adjust to the weather outside, maintaining precise cabin temperature.

The multi functional display is the other feature worth a note. The digital clock tells you not only the time, but also the ambient temperature outside. With the help of the tilt steering, you can drive easily after adjusting the steering wheel to your individual posture. The Zxi and Zdi variants of Dzire have steering mounted audio controls as well. These variants are also come with an Automatic Climate Control (ACC) system, which enables you to set the cabin temperature as per your comfort. The on-board computers automatically adjust as per the outside weather, in order to maintain a precise temperature within the cabin.

Drivetrain

The petrol variant comes with 1.3l 16 value Altec 32 engine and the engine delivers flatter torque curve, even at less rpm. The fewer the gear changes the easier the ride in the city, thus lesser fatigue and great performance. The diesel variant of the DZire is 1.3L Diesel Direct Injection System (DDiS). The engine is a mixed bag of performance, fuel efficiency, driving pleasure and durability. The DDiS engine has been crowned as the International engine of the year and this promise. The 75 bhp engine provides for a great overall driving experience.

Handling and Safety

Sound absorbing materials within the cabin of Maruti Swift Dzire enable the driver to have a pleasurable drive. The Zxi and Zdi variants of the car are equipped with adjustable tilt steering, which enables you to adjust the steering wheel according to your height. The headlamp leveling facility offers perfect light beam adjustment, thereby increasing the visibility during night. All these features ensure better handling of this sedan.

The dual front air bags cushion the front seat occupants in case of a head-on collision are the major safety options. The collapsible steering column minimises injury on impact. The seat belts come with safety enhancing pertensioners and force limiter. The ABS with booster assists prevent uncontrolled skids while braking, especially on slippery roads.
The electronic brake-force distribution distributes braking force between the front and the rear wheels. The booster assists and ventilated disk brakes, come in handy to brake at a short distance. If in pouring rain one switches on the automatic climate control, it makes for a good clear view of the road.

Overall Evaluation

The petrol variants of Maruti Swift Dzire are Lxi, Vxi and Zxi, while the diesel variants of the car include Ldi, Vdi and Zdi. All the variants are available in metallic colors, which include sovereign blue, silky silver, pearl metallic arctic white, clear beige, solid bright red, midnight black and azure grey. The introductory price of Maruti Swift Dzire was in the range of Rs 4,49,000 to Rs 6,70,000. The Dzire has the safety features and is a sedan which is quiet unique in its own way. The Dzire is worth the money put in but a swift with a boot is what youll get when it comes down to looks.
