Now my ZDi dzire has been delivered on 03 Jun 2009.  I waited for more than three months because midway i changed my mind and upgraded my booking from VDI to ZDI.  It's really worth.  The ride is as smooth, as i expected.  It's silent too.  The AC is just awesome.  The present unbearable heat in Kolkata just can'nt touch us.  The steering mounted music controls helps u in maintaining eye contact on the road while ur changing the FM stations or volume.  The bigger tyres keeping this big veh firm on ground.  The boot for which i opted for this car is unmatched.  I compared with Honda City ZXI (Old model), My dzire is bigger than Honda.  The pickup is awesome after 2000 rpm.  U can feel the power of the engine.  The seats are also comfortable but yes rear leg room should have been more.  I have fitted windscreen films too which is a must for all the car owner and i strongly recommend.  It's having 70% heat rejection with 100% UV protection and helps in cooling faster.  The best thing I have fitted is the 4 sensor based parking sensor.  I am now worryless about reverse parking.  I am using Turbojet and have already done 500 Kms.  I am not driving more that 60 KM during the running in period as I know that this will help the engine to live longer and longer without rapid wear and tear.  The color of my car is clear baige ( Golden ) and i am also planning to have teflon coated on it before moonson sets in.  I am a happier man now with my loaded beautiful dzire which has become neighbours envy.
Hey, I have done 750 KMs and this car is giving me 18.22 KPL in city driving with 100% AC on that too in Kolkata traffic.  I am using HP Turbojet and maintaing tyre pressure 32 PSI for front and 30 PSI for rear and never drove beyond 60KM per hour.
      AWESOME..............

Drive safely and wear seatbelts too.....

Hi, today i.e. on 05 Oct 2009 after completing 2000 Km, i upgraded the tyres with Goodyear F1 Eagle GSD2 series tyres with 195x60, 14 inch size.  Now the ride is more comfortable, quiter with great traction.  The first service is already done, the car is going great with no problems.

Now I am planning to install a digital tuning box for DDIS engine imported from Germany which will boost its power from 75 BHP to 94 BHP and the torque will also be increased from 190nm to 210 nm.  About 25% overall increase is expected.

Hi, again, today i drove 500 KM with four pers on board and with moderate luggage.  I did 175 KMPH ( highest speed ) and believe u me, the car was firm on ground and i beat Scorpio and Linea too.  Now after 3000 KM, i got 19.8 KM in local and 26 in high way without AC. Incredible...

Hi on 12 Jul 2010 i got  one digital tuning box fitted wich was imorted from germany. I got it thru online . Now my car's power has increased from 75 BHP to 94 BHP and economy has also got increased by 1.5KM/L. Presently i am at shillong, driving in hilly terrain in cold weather, believe u me, the tuning box has  done a miracle to my dzire, the extra power is seen in every turn and every time i push the throttle hard.😎

Now after completing 10,000 KM, i have changed the complete air filter assy with Green Cotton WIND performance filter with dynamisation kit. I bought it from Pete's Automotive online and fitted it myself and the change in pickup and overall performance is manifold supplemented by the Digital tuning box.Go Green 😎

Fuel economy, style, boot space, value for money, good interiorsless leg room in rear, reverse problem due to poor visibility, inferior quality tyres

Hello, Myself is SPS Gill from Agra,UP : Previously I was driving Maruti Wagon R VXi for last three years,, :I got my Maruti Dzire VDi car on May 2008. I have average run of 2000kms/Month. Till now i completed 32000 kms. The average I getting is 18-20kms/lts on four-lane highway, 15-16 kms/ltr in city and overall 17.5km/ltrs. : Before booking for this car I had looked for other models of Diesal cars i.e.- Ford fiesta, Ford Fusion, Fiat multijet, Tata Indigo CS/XL, Hyundai Verna and I Compared them thoroughly with regard to performance, price, average, and value for money, and at last I found the Dzire on the TOP of all. : Before Dzire, I was going for swift VDi with ABS and I had booked that car but after looking Dzire I changed my mind and cancelled my booking for swift VDi, i also look for Dzire ZDi model,, but the price differance was too much compared facilities provided in ZDi, so at last i stick with Dzire VDi. :Now I realise that I had taken the good decision by opting Dzire VDi insted of swift VDi, bcos it look great compared to Swift's duck look. :This car not only gives great performance of swift diesal but also it have great look and space as of other high end sedan cars. : The Engine is powerful i.e 75bhp , quickly responsive to acceration , great torque(190nm torque), silent inside, stable at high speed, less vibrating, below 2000rpm this car do well but after passing 2000 rmp htis car change all together,, there is a zoooom just after 2000rmp and engine respond gr8 to acceleration,, : In built CD player is not up to Mark so I added sony woofer and amplifier in the car by taking advantage of great boot space and also I changed 6" rear speakers with oval JVC speakers, now sound is not only great it is rocking.... : Breaking at high speed could be better if ABS is added as standard specification, still car remain stable even with these brakes,,, :AC cooling is very very effective, actually chilling, engine do not come under pressure with AC on at all, blower is also good...,for effective cooling,, i added GARWALE screens, with rear curtain, four window foldable curtain,, it really work for effectiveness of AC,, :Company should remove name Swift from the car, and should use name only "DZIRE" for this model. :If you are looking for entry level sedan, you should go for it, this car is a real beauty and great value for money. If you want to spent little more money then go for hyundai verna, ford fiesta or even scoda octavia,, but remember it still perform better then ford fiesta.... : Suspention is also good, big tyres give great control even at high speed. :Company should make some change in the front look of the car, at least change the headlight of the car so from front it could look differ from swift. vo kehte he na "saamne se dekha to laga swift chali aa rahi he, jab bagal se nikal gai aur pichhware par najar padi to pata chala swift nahi Dezire chali jaa rahi he" : I made a trip to Nainital dehradoon from agra on diwali leave, total run was more then 1200 kms in one week,, at times very poor roads between aligarh n chandousi,,, on bad roads i just deflated tyre pressure by 5-6 points, this really helps in reducing vibration and noice. On highway fourlane, i kept tyre pressure around 36-38 for better pickup n average, the car was fully loaded,, the overall ride was perfect without any problem at all,,, : On 1st April 09,, I nearly completed 11 month with Dzire, till now very smooth driving, no problem at all,, never need any running repair,, all free services done,, waiting for first paid service next month, the most costlier service till now,, i m expecting Rs 6-7k in this service.. : Just done fouth paid service,, it cost me 4k,, coolent changed, engine oil changed, gearbox oil changed, tyre rotation done, wheel balancing done, alignment done,,air filter changed,,, now car doing gr8... no problem at all,, well if u think this review is helpful to u, pls do comment, even if you do not agree with me, them also do right comment. I Wish that u will get ur dream car soon,, and my this review could be helpful for u to get that... SPS Gill, Agra

Pick-up, Great look, Boot space, Great milage, Great interior, Comfortable seats.Lack of ABS option in VDi Model, Otherwise perfect sedan for entry level.

      The Decision

Fairly straight forward - wanted a Sedan. Conscious of higher cost of purchase and maintenance for Diesel, apart from the requirement of running a diesel vehicle regularly for longer drives prompted me to think of perol sedan. Choices in the market for a sub-6 lac segment: Indigo CS, Hyundai-Accent and Ford Ikon among others. Opted out of Logan due to its Fleet car (taxi) status in Hyderabad and not so impressive looks. Was unhappy with the gadgets and gizmos in Indigo CS; there is hardly any accessory that comes along with the car. Accent and Ikon were too old a model for me to opt for, and hence dint want to run the risk to facing an uphill task to get rid of the vehicle in the seconds' market - dont know when they'll be phased out.

Test drove VDi at the showroom - really impressed. The interiors were satisfactory, or atleast better than the rest in the category and almost exactly the same as SX4.

      The Buy

I got my hands on the Silky Silver Dzire VXi on 17th October 2008. Contrary to what I was told in this forum and elsewhere, the delivery was fairly quick - One and a half months to be precise. My finances were settled through Axis Bank who, on behalf of Varun Motors obliged with a better EMI rate than what was being guaranteed by SBI or other Maruti dealer in the city.

      The first impression

The vehicle had to face a test on the vey first day (or should I say night) of delivery. The heavens opened and the it poured like crazy; So, I got a chance to drive through peak Hyderabad traffic  at night in the rains. The pros and cons were clear almost instantly. One of the biggest problems I faced was, adjusting to the fairly smal rear windshield - which reduced the sight of the traffic that followed me - perhaps the higher boot forced Maruti to reduce the wind shield size and the fact that rear seat headrest are elevated (for comfort) doesn't help when you are in the drivers seat. The pick up and slow running was fairly smooth. The sound proofing of the vehicle is marginally better than the rest in the category. Incredibly smooth and remarkable control are some of the hall marks of this entry level sedan. The boot is huge and can accommodate the largest of suitcases - I guess it is one of the largest in the sedan segment with SX4 being an exception.

      The After Impression

Prior to the first service the mileage stuck to paltry 10 Km/L (city) and increased to 13 -14 Km/L (city) after the first service. Not driven on the highway yet, but I presume that the mileage should stand at 19 Km/L. I use either Speed or Premium petrol so that should also be noted. One of the drawbacks of the vehicle has been the size of the glove compartment - which is big enough only to hold the car documents and nothing else - this my friends, is a real disappointment considering that the dash board is pretty huge. Though impressed with music system initially - I guess it would be better with some more spunk and lesser vibrations at higher volumes - but then that is matter of preference / choice.

I wasn't too happy with the first service, the engine has started raising the moment I switch on the car; it behaves itself later though.

Overall, it seems like a good buy and don't see a reason why this should not be the first chioice for the folks looking for a sedan. Mind you the interiors of SX4 and Dzire are almost the same and both the vehicles are essesntially built on the same platform - that of SWIFT.

      The Advice

      Go for it !!

I got my Dzire (Clear Metallic Beige VDi) on April 17 th. I have done around  800 km. I drove a long distance highway about 480 km continously.  Totally 3 people travelled along with me with the boot fully loaded. It was  also absolutely fantastic  for me to drive.  After driving zen for 8 years i felt that i will find it difficult to drive a disel, but the engine was absolutely stunning. Highway mileage was 22 to 24 with AC.  I had no strain of driving the dzire. Music system was adequate but cannot be termed excellent.  AC cooling was  very effective at 41 degrees in Chennai - Coimbatore Highway. After the continous ride, people at the back said they were comfortable placed  during the entire journey. It handled even the bumpy roads quite well. I was contemplating  to buy a disel sedan in Jan. But i thought i will wait till march end for the DZire to hit the road. I am glad i waited and got this value for money car . DZire  defintely gives a tough competion to the logan and the indigo. I have been driving in the city for a while now. The pick up and ride quality is very good. I hav'nt checked the mileage in the city yet .

Most of the reviewers say dzire is superior or comparable to Verna or fiesta. My humble request is please dont compare Dzire with Fiesta and Verna. Those are luxury sedans and are a class apart from dzire . The back seat comfort, Quality , built and design is excellent in these vehicles when compared to the dzire.  But  the only thing is you have to spend 2 lakhs more  for those cars to get the same feel of the  features as  in dzire. So if your budget is 6-7 lakhs go for the Dzire. People with higher budget do go for Verna or  fiesta.

Was on the look out for a sedan within the 6 lac budget, so when the Dezire was launched it gave me better option to the logan that i had in mind.

      Here are my impressions:-

      1) The car looks much better in ’flesh’, photos do not do any justice. Its availabe in 6 colours of which all are new except for the ’silky silver colour’.The white(which was the test car colour) looks great in the evening and is actually metallic!!All except the Red colour is the only one thats nonmetallic.

2)The boot...well its great.good loading aperture and not many protrutions. The ZDI model which is the top of the line has 20L less than the other because it uses a larger tyre(so the spare wheel takes up 20L).The only problem is that the boot lid supports intrude a lot into the boot space and it may foul with the luggage.Oh also they is no access to the boot from the rear seat.

3)Coming to the rear seat, it a bit more angulated than the swift but the real change is the bigger windows on the rear door wich gives it a bit more airy feel. Also i found the seat belt locks on the seat scab to impinge on the thighs as one sits down on the seat, usually in most cars the locks come out inbetween the backrest and the seat scab(maybe this is a design issue).Still space is a premium and the logan is much better here.Another plus point is the folding armrest provided on the VDI and ZDI, this really adds class and is a feature found lacking in costlier cars.

      4) The interiors are just the same ,like the swift the only difference is the integrated stereo that comes in the VDi(middle model) which was laking in the VDi swift. The stereo perse is just average, the sound output will not please any music enthusiast. The remote stereo controls on the steering wheel of the ZDi is a good touch. The front seats are supremely comfortable. There is no dead pedal and no low fuel warning light but all other features are present. There is also an external temperature display(VDi/ZDI) and the 'light intensity' of the dashboard instruments(which are slightly different from the Swift) can be adjusted.(nice touch). Also the glove box is quite small and its not lockable.

      5) Engine is quite refined..its a revelation..very silent(and i use a santro/ikon)and the torque is also good.(better than logan).Anything above 2000 rmp and it flies!!.Overtaking on the highways are a non issue and the drive ability with AC running is much better than the Logan diesel. It revs out at 5000rpm(better than the logan)hence giving a much better range of use.I could not find any appreciable difference between the Dzire and Swift even with the 30kg weight disadvantage in the former. There is a bit of turbo lag below 1800rpm but its not much.

6)Handling is great, steering is a bit numb centre but in the turns its great. The only weak link are the tyres..165’s are really undertyred for a car of this size and performance potential. Why does maruti skip on these?!!

      7) All the safety features are bundled on the ZDI model and the ABS is not even an option for the lower model(unlike the swift), why this attitude i dont understand.

      8) finally i feel maruti could have played a little more with the front and atleast changed the headlight a bit to make the dezire stand out from the swift--or atleast provide different color options than the Swift.
      Update

I have got delivery of the car after wait for 4 months and 8 days - felt cheated by maruti and the dealer as i had traded in my existing car for the booking.
After using the car though i am relived to say that the car redeems all ill feeling.

Hi friends! I bought this car on 2nd oct.08 After considering many cars like Indigo, Logan, Aveo & Honda city, i finalized Dzire ,as Indigo is  labeled taxi, Logan is compromise on looks & interiors, Aveo is rarely seen on roads  &  City has discountinued the model so now no fun in buying old one.

Initial impression of the car is good with so many features in this price. AC chills you in 5min. Driving is quite comfortable with effort less steering. Boot space is also very good.

With roses, there are thorns also.Rear seat only accomodates 2A+1C.Pick up in 4-5 gear is low.Milage i got 11-12(city) & 14-15(h/w) with Ac.It should improve after service.

Thanks to carwale for helping me make decision.

A very close friend of mine was one of the first people to book the Swift DZire ZDi in Delhi. His car was delivered today morning. I went with him to take the delivery. He asked me to drive, because he was calling his friends and relatives to inform.

My first reaction was – awesome car. It looks good in flesh. I mean much better than Logan and indigo. Ikon is still comparable. I liked the high rear as well. The interiors were beige and black. The rear seats are better than the Swift, in terms of comfort and legroom. Climate control and steering mounted audio controls are good additions. Would attract many feature lovers.

The boot has been integrated well. The drive was smooth, even better than the Swift hatchback. The turbo kick and the engine refinement are the highlights of maruti DZire. The gear ratios are perfect and it has a good turning radius. Brakes are powerful. Minimal engine noise. In fact I did not feel that I am driving a diesel car.

I have recently bought a Honda city. Now I feel that I have unnecessarily spent so much. I could have bought a Dzire instead.

Good looks, comfy interiors, added featuresnothing i could find

With the launch of the Swift Dzire, Maruti has definitely set the cat among the pigeons in the lower A3 segment. Till now this segment was populated by mundane cars like the Indigo and Logan. To say that the Dzire will be a best seller is a safe bet. But what impact would it actually have on the lower A3. How much further would it move the goalposts.

Well, to find out I visited the nearest Maruti showroom.

The Dzire I saw parked in the showroom was a ZDI variant in a dark shade of blue that looked really handsome.

The styling is definitely more striking and contemporary if compared to the Indigo - Logan brigade. The rear end especially with it’s “pinched bootlid” (that’s what the sales guy said) and chrome embellishments etc. give the car it’s premium look.

In comparison the Logan with its slab-sided (cost- cutting) surfaces looks horribly outdated. All straight lines and almost devoid of curves (it even has a flat front windshield !)  The Logan looks like a car from the eighties era. The safely styled Indigo too is quite pleasing to look at.

The insides of the car had me pleasantly surprised. Maruti has gone a long way in equipping the car with all the bells and whistles in its kitty and hence is leagues ahead of the competition.

The in dash CD player with controls on the steering wheel (whoa!), climate control etc. the list is impressive.

The twin tone interiors lighten up things inside and add to that feeling of luxury.

Three passengers at the rear could mean a snug fit for the Dzire which is not as wide as the Logan. But it comes equipped with a flip down centre armrest that adds to the premium feeling. The logan on the other hand is quite utilitarian in this regard with it’s wide flat bench rear seat but is blessed with loads of space. The Indigo is the only car among the three which has a 60:40 rear seat split which helps in increasing lugging capacity.

Later I went for a test drive and was pleasantly surprised to know that the addition of the boot had done very little to dent the sporty performance and efficiency of the excellent Swift diesel engine. In terms of cubic capacity it is the smallest engine among the trio but has the highest power and torque output. This translates into a peppy and sporty drive on the road. The Logan too is an able performer and has good in-gear acceleration. Indigo is the least refined with poor NVH characteristics.

ABS and EBD works perfectly, and along with airbags make the Dzire a very safe car to live with. Ride and handling is very sporty because of the fantastic steering of the Dzire. I found the rear suspension slightly softer than the Swift too. Over a rough patch the Logan does have a slight edge in the comfort area when compared to the Dzire. But personally I liked the slightly harder setting in the Maruti.

Well, striking looks, feature loaded, killer pricing and brand Maruti make the Dzire a formidable rival. The Dzire is definitely in a league of its own here.

At the beginning I had rejected the thought of buying the Swift Dzire. I didn’t now like the shape of the car in the images. I already have a Zen Estello and didn’t want another hatch cause I really liked the swift.

But since I was not able to find the car of my choice I kept on looking between a lot of options like Indigo CS, LX; Logan, Ford cards, Hyundai, etc…

But I was not getting totally satisfied.

I thought of taking a look at the Dzire first because I know that apart from the shape and there were not much of drawbacks in the car.

I liked the way it looked in reality and without even taking a test drive I booked the car then and there instantly because of the paucity of the availability of the car. I bought a VDI version because it almost carried the entire feature I was looking in one car. I got the delivery within 5 days

The next day itself I took it to Pune (from Mumbai) and back. The ride was very pleasant. I was driving at the speeds of around 60kmph on the expressway and always wanting to hot the gas peddles a little more but restrained myself.

There was amazing power and pickup. Although you can feel more of it after it hits 2RPM. You should then see it soaring. It just zoops like a race car. It grips the road well and gives a fairly smooth ride. I could not feel any swaying at high speeds.

      The boot space is huge.

The mileage turned out to be very nice with ac. I think I got around 18 – 20 on the expressway.

The music system currently is good but when u listen at 42+ plus it starts jarring. You can keep the system till the time it gives in but after that you can put in place a real one. The stereo is ok I don’t know how long with the speakers last though.

The gears are really smooth and I could not feel any pressure while changing them.

I am thoroughly satisfied with the car and would really recommend it to all thinking to buy one.

had booked Maruti Suzuki Dzire VDi model within few days on its launch in March 2008. I had given Rs. 50, 000/- to Rana Motors, Delhi on 26th March 2008 for its booking and got the receipt. I was committed the delivery within 60 days and this was also written in the receipt.

After the expiry of 60 days in May last week, i started enquiring about the delivery of car. The deaer said the car is ready, but since i had taken loan against car, few papers were missing for disbursement. They promise that once i give those papers, car shall be delivered.

On June 12th, I gave all the papers and the loan was disbursed. Since i took loan of only Rs. 4.00 lacs, I also paid the remaining payment of around Rs. 2.00 lacs to them. They confirm that car shall be delivered on 17th June 2008.

On the evening of 17th June when i enquired about the delivery, the dealer said that car is under production so we have to wait 7 days more. I was really very very astonished by this remarks, as only 3 days before they took full payment from me and promised to delivery whithin 3 days.

Today is 13th July, 1 month has elapsed, since they took full payment from me, and still not delivered the car. I feel cheated. The dealer cheated me on following account.

      a) Why did the take full downpayment from me, when they did not had car to deliver me.

      b) Why did they give false promise again and again and failed to keep that.

      c) They still are not committing any date of delivery. Is this the way the deal with a customer.

      d) Why did the book the car, when the delivery is nor confirmed. They should stop the booking of car.

Its a pure case of cheating. The dealer must have sold the card intented for me to some other person on getting premium.

When we tried to contact the dealer, they are saying that they can refund the booking amount and cancel the order. It this the way after 4 months of wait and false promise is this reply.

I request Maruti to keep note for it. They should enquire about the matter, as to why the took full downpaymen of Rs. 2.50 lacs, on june 12th, when they did not have car to deliver. Why did they do this to us.
