Full Review

This is my second review after driving the Logan DLE for 2 months (2000 KMs). The car handles well in a typical crowded Indian road. Driving pleasure and comfort are quite good - though, if you want to zip through the streets with very fast acceleration you should then go for higher end diesels like the Verna.

I got a mileage of about 25 Kmpl with the DLE - city and highway combined with minimal AC. (AC is adequate - no complaints).

The AC controls are placed a bit awkwardly, I am yet to get used to handling the AC and fan buttons without looking at them. Wish the side mirrors could fold inside a bit more and the boot had a release lever. Not sure if Mahindra can provide some more refinements with the interiors - but the interiors can be better.

The Logan DLE will be good to you if you drive it gently - if you drive it over 120 kmph the engine will make its presence felt - but as I hardly drive above 80kmph, I am not complaining.

The bumper (plastics) according to me are very soft and can get damaged easily if even a Maruti Omni gets too close - as happened with me - but I am thankful that it did not drop off like it does with Indicas or Indigos.

Overall, I felt that the Logan DLE is reliable, comfortable, spacious and gives great mileage.

I agree that Mahindra should do something about the expensive labour/spare-part costs. A new air filter costs Rs 1400 which you need to change every 10,000 KMs, plus regular oil changes, etc.will jack up your yearly service costs to Rs 4,500 or more(as on September 2009). If you want a better experience, consider the Verna, Swift D'zire. Mileage for DLE is around 20 KMs in city with AC on. If you drive the car gently, it responds well. No complaints. AC is good also. You want more for 6 lacs??

DON'T EVER THINK OF PURCHASING IT. LOOKS ARE BAD,SUSPENSION IS WEAK,PARTS ARE TOO EXPENSIVE(4 TIMES MORE THAN COMPETITORS), LABOUR IS TOO EXPENSIVE, NOT A SINGLE PART IS AVAILAIBLE IN LOCAL MARKET, INTERIORS ARE AVERAGE, AFTERSALE SERVICE IS POOR, PAINT ON CAR IS FAULTY(BUBBLES APPEAR ON DOOR AND BONNET WITH IN 1 YEAR OF USE), NOTHING IS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY(YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DEFECTIVE PART EVEN THE CAR IS IN WARRANTY). NOTHING GOOD IN THIS CAR. I OWE LOGAN DLX, HAS DONE 49000 KMS.OCT.

25KMPL Appears too high for this vehicle. Even company doesnt promise this.Mahindra should seperate the taxi cadre and a personal buyer by releasing specific models for them.Else it is a difficult buy after seeing all the logans as taxis on shamshabad road.

overall the indigo is a better buy. Better build quality.. It shows with the drastic drop in logan sales figures and rise in Indigo stats.

Nice and practical review Samit. Would be nice if you can compare it with its new competitor Suzuki's Dzire too. Nishant
