I purchased my car, Getz Prime GLS mid night grey 3 weeks ago and let me tell you, I had a nightmare of the time with the dealer I brought the car from.

Anyway, Let me start of by listing the pros first and end with the cons as cons is a huge list.

Pros:

  1. Excellent driving comfort (Please note without AC on)
  2. Excellent suspensions
  3. Great legroom in the rear
  4. Decent boot space

Cons:

  1. Horrible pick-up with AC on for a 1.3 L engine. Forget about using 4th and 5th gear in city limits.
  2. Poor fuel economy with AC on.
  3. Watch out for the double folding rear seats. It is not quite similar to the double folding seats in an Indica. The rear seats do double fold but not with a 40 - 60 split like Indica. I realized this only upon buying the car. Hard luck!!!.
  4. No remote boot opening lever at driver seat. I fail to understand why this feature is not provided.
  5. No lamp provided in the boot. This feature could have been useful.

My overall view on Getz GLS is that, it is a good car that provides you a comfortable ride but at the expense of emptying your pocket.

Secondly, the pick-up is pathetic with AC on. I dont see any difference in pick-up between a GVS 1L engine and a GLS 1.3L engine. The reason that I specifically went for a GLS 1.3 L engine is not to compromise on the pick-up while the AC on. But the whole purpose seems to be lost.

I hope this review is helps prospective Getz buyers.

Hi Rajsekhar, I also purchases the same car in March 2008. After just the first service I did ventured out and done full circuit of LEH-LADAKH with my family. 12 days in total and without a small problem. This car is really excellent in all fronts. I really enjoyed the trip despite many threats of the routes.

Hi Jay and Phani, Well, I have done close to 11,000 KM and I take back my words on the pick-up part of it with the AC on. The engine seems to have opened up after the second service. Here are the two major difference: 1. The 1.3L engine is a little more peppy and is priced a little higher than the 1.1L engine. 2. The 1.3L is an all new engine vs. 1.1L is a base Santro engine. Hi Rajashekar: Any improvement in the performance. I am planning to buy getz and confused between 1.1 and 1.3 engines. Also would you suggest to wait for i20? it will definately by pricey than getz.

Hi I would like to recommend that, you should use high octane fuel and if possible keep ur car and ac air filter clean, this will help....this was from my experience...any ways even i am thinking of getting prime 1.1, but i am confused between 1.1 and 1.3..

I am also facing the same pickup problem with AC. Cannot go to 4th gear easily. How much mileage are you getting with AC?
