Exterior Excellent Exteriors which can even make most the sedans pale in front of this smashing car... It's a great car in a country where people only love quantity rather than quality and that's a a misfortune for this car (I think)... I am a proud owner of this car and do love to flaunt it... and I am really happy with the kind of attention it draws since Polos, i20s and others are just way below in quality... These cars just cannot match the looks of Honda Jazz...

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are so spacious and excellently designed that you just cannot imagine.... From the inside, it's just too big a car... From inside it's size is exactly similar to the City with quality a notch above it's bigger sibling - The City.  Four seats are very very comfortable... Just sit in the rear seat and you will immediately notice what you are missing in the likes of i20 and Polo!!! Jazz is designed for someone who love quality and do not mind paying extra for that!!!!

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox iVtec is a great performer... Fuel Economy is excellent and Gearbox is silky smooth...Easily the best!!!! The only thing I personally do not like is the lack of response from the engine at low revs... below 2.5K it's very hard to drive... Else, on the highways absolutely NO car matches it's performance, stability and reliability.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride Quality is little hard... But, on the highways, it's smooth and very very grounded... Handling is simply the best i20 and Polo just cannot be compared to it.

Final Words If you have a love for the quality... Then go for it... Else, you have Polos and i20s  etc... and will be lost in those... One last advice.

i20 and Polo does have an image problem and that's were the Jazz scores over them very very comfortably. Eg. If you happen to buy an i20 (CRDI Asta) for let's say 7Lac... and there is another person in your locality with a i20 (Era) petrol for 4.5Lac... His image (on the whole) will be equal to your's... Since rest of your life you will spend in explaining to the others that your car is worth 7Lac and his is only for 4.5Lac...  I beleive that if you have spent that much on car, then car should speak for itself... That's where Jazz scores over them... Once you own a Jazz... everybody will know that you are in an elite club... and not many people around you have the luxuary and previlage to show off a quality product... My fundas... be different from the RAT RACE!

Areas of improvement Some improvements that could be done:

      1. I agree with most of the people, that Honda should give driver seat adjuster as a standard.

      2. USB port will be a good option... That's for sure.

      3. Rear middle seat is very spacious, though little un-comfortable because of the design (since seats fold from there.

      4. Pickup should be improved at low Rev.

      5. If Honda can come up with a 1.5L engine in it - Like they are doing in Thailand.

      6. If they can bring in more colour options in India.

      7. Mud flaps, Partial Tray should be provided as a standard.

      8. If they can re-think about securing fuel tank lid!

Good Looks, Great Style, Good Road Presence and Nice Fuel Economy. Not adequate pickup at low rev (<2.5K)...

Exterior I have lived in Singapore for four years prior to this and must admit that during the last year of the stay, whenever I saw the jazz passing by, I would just go .. WOW! Imagine my delight when I learnt they will be launching it in India. I loved the looks from day one, and since I bought it a year ago, my appreciation for the styling of the car has only increased. From the aggresive V-nose bonnet to the strong shoulder lines and ending with the immaculately designed tail lamps, this is one very proportionate and sporty car.  I will say now that the punto beats the jazz hands down in styling and I personally think that the punto is the most beautiful car in the country, but then again looks are not everything, and especially in the punto's case they can be very deceptive! As far as the other car's are concerned, the i20 according to me, has some confusing styling details, especially when viewed in profile. The Polo although a solid car on its own, is just too dull and straightforward, and the fabia just looks a bit outdated. All in all Honda has done a splendid job, considering the cab-forward stance and I would go as far as saying this is the best looking Honda currently on sale.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Due to the cab-forward design of the Jazz, the Honda engineers have managed to unearth massive amounts of interior space. It's surprising how oher manufacturers haven't followed this trend, but it's an art that Honda has perfected. The front seats are the best in class, I have tested all the others, and the driving position coupled with the lovely steering wheel just feels right. The visibility is terrific and the large front quarter glasses really helps especially when taking right hand bends. I really like the design of the centre console, and although some people might think it is a bit eccentric, I feel the design is very functional. All the important controls, like volume control, A/c temp control have are big and easy to operate on the move. The quality of the interiors is on par with the polo, and that is really saying something. I just love the way the interior lights up at night and it is really a special feeling and really gives u a sense of driving in a much more expensive car.A very very tiny gripe I have is the lack of Auto Climate Control. Honestly I don't feel the lack of it, but I am sure other users would feel a car of this price should have that feature and that thought is justified. The audio system gets a special mention here, because in a word it's fantastic. Sounds great and is very well integrated with the rest of the dashboard.

Honda excels in the practicality department and this car is a very good example of that. Twin-gloveboxes, 10 cup-holders(not just cups, but properly sized 1 litre bottles!), the amazing 'magic' seats. and the massive, just massive amount of bootspace. I am sure many people think that they may never really need folding seats and that this is a marketing gimmick. But look at it this way. The rear seats work perfectly when carrying 2 or more people. Best in class legroom, and is really comfortable over long trips. I have done many, hence I know! :) But when needed it can transform into a loadlugger. And this flexibility is its USP. You get the best of both worlds. This brings me to the important question of value for money, which I will deal with later.

In comparison, I was genuinely shocked by the quality of the Punto's interior. The panel gaps, the cheap plastic, dull colours. And this shock was amplified considering how gorgeous the car is on the outside. It was a big turn-off. The I20's interiors although offering more features is far less practical. The quality in the fabia and polo is slightly better, not surprising considering they're owned by VW, but in my opinion they're too dull(more so the polo)  and cramped, especially at the rear.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The i-VTEC engine on the Honda is brilliant and the reason many people love this car is because of the engine, and surprisingly also why many people hate/dislike the car. There is a reason for this, and that is ... i-VTEC. If only people really understand what this is, and how does it work, they will understand the reason for the lack of low-end torque. Honda has found the perfect balance between power(lots of it!) and fuel efficiency. And as an offset, a slight lack of low end grunt is very acceptable. Gearbox is silky-smooth and the ratios are perfectly spaced-out.

Of special note is the accelaration in 2nd gear. It is mind-blowing. No car in it's class can match it. You can make the engine scream all the way to 6 and a half thousand revs and go up to 84kmph!! Yes, 84! As a result I think it is the perfect city car as you can zip in out of tight places. And it very very addictive and satisfying  to take the sweet sounding engine to the redline! Try it and tell me it isin't! :)

I'll let some numbers do the talking. And these are actual numbers observed by me over a 1 year ownership period:

      • Max speed: 170 Kmph(could've gone a bit more, but for annoying trucks)
      • Highway F/E: 16.0kmpl( these are true calculated figures and not the reading on the digital display, with A/C)
      • City F/E: 13-13.5 kmpl( sensible driving with A/C) and around 12-12.5 ( mad mad driving with A/C!)
      • Most efficient crusing speed: 110 kmph @ 5th gear.

So there you have it, cruise along all day long at 110kmph and still get unbelievable fuel figures.( what more can you ask for?.

In comparison, Punto is once again let down, this time by its engine, Fabia and Polo surprisingly have quite unrefined engines. Sounds like a truck when you sit inside. And the I20 just isin't exciting or fast enough.

Ride Quality & Handling The car does feel a bit jittery around town at low speeds. Nothing spine-breaking, but certainly not as good as the fabia or polo. In contrast is the stability and ride quailty at moderate-high speeds. It is very composed at speeds in excess of 140kmph, and the handling is confidence inspiring as well. But definitely manouevering in the city is a breeze with it's very pointy and direct steering.

Final Words I'm aware that the fabia and polo now come with a 1.6L engine and are as a result faster. If out and out performance is your requirement, then they win over the jazz. But as a complete product, nothing comes close.

Now coming to the value for money bit. This is a very picky subject and THE most important reason for the Jazz not selling as much. Do you get value-for-your-money?

Yes. Beautifully designed car, Engine that feels it belongs to a much pricier car, Painstaking attention to detail inside and out, Massive interior space(more than the city too!), Quality interiors, flexibility of a hatchback and fuel efficiency of a car belonging to a much lower price range.

Now if you have to pay more compared to other cars, then why not? At the end of the day, and in my case, after a year of ownership, I can safely say it gives me immense pleasure in owning this car, and not for one moment do I think I've paid upwards of 7 lakhs.  That, is real value- for-money! :)

Areas of improvement Oooh. Maybe the 1.5L from the city as an option? Mugen body kits offered as an option ?? :)

Beatifully styledl, Great engine, Top-notch interiors, Space EfficiencyMaybe, just maybe, the lack of Auto Climate Control. That's it!

I brought my Honda Jazz around 5 weeks back and have been in love with the car ever since. Since there has been a lot of blood letting on this forum in regards to this price of the car, let me first of all assure everyone that I am not blessed with loads of moolah. I have worked very hard to earn every dime of the 8 lakhs that I paid for my Jazz and I was moving from a 7 year old WagonR!!! I have been always been a believer in the dictum that the price of any product is eventually dictated by the demand for it and that the manufacturer have the right to make profits (& loads of it) for innovations that the market will pay for. Government or crowd regulated prices can only result in Ambassadors or at best a Nano. Hence, my initial look at Honda Jazz was un-biased by the obvious steep pricing. Two rounds of road tests followed by intense research on the Internet finally convinced me of it being the prefect one. I was always looking for world car that is sold in the mature markets of Europe, Far-east and Americas. Honda Jazz (along with I20 and Punto to an extent) stand out from the rest of the crowd in this regards. However appealing, Linea and SX4 loose out big in this regards. Being an old adherent of the BBC Car show 'Top Gear' meant that their assessment valued a lot as well (http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-reviews) Enough has already been written on the technical and functional aspects of this car and I would not go there. The things that finally made the case for me were the convincing build and finish quality (tap on Punto's plastics or look at the edges and you would understand what I am talking about), solid feel of the exterior (esp. bottom), safety features & track record, general airiness & natural light in the interiors, compact size of the car against a wheelbase that is same as Honda City (or any other sedan), fuel efficiency & finally the refinement of the engine and transmission. I was initially not so brought it in on the 'Magic Seats' but just yesterday I was forced to tag a Gas Cylinder along and you know what, I was able to place it in standing position with the rear passenger seat in lifted position. I would have to otherwise place it in boot in a horizontal roll position and the possible risk spoiling the upholstery. 5 weeks down, I am still as convinced on this being the car for me. While the alloy wheels, seat height adjustment, reach on steering and direct iPoD connectivity would have really helped, I remain quite content with the value that I have got for the price and hope to enjoy it for many years to come.Refined Engine, Impeccable Build Quality, Abundant Space, Safety FeaturesMissing Torque at Low Speeds, Lacks Seat Height Adjustment

Exterior Lets face it, the exteriors may not appeal to everyone (people have called it a mini Innova, and even likened it to a frog!), so I would not dwell too much on this. Though, I feel that it is one of the better looking cars around beaten only by the Polo. Lots of glass in fact makes the interiors a part of the looks.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Spectacular! The quality of plastics is at par with any B-segment car. 10 bottle holders are enough for a party inside, and believe me the cabin space will not be a hindrance. 2 bottle holders are strategically positioned in front of AC vents (it works!). Two glove boxes come in handy The magic seats are a godsend for the next time you go scenery shopping. Also, there is a nifty document holder under the rear seats, though I never used it myself. The rear seat is comfortable, and can easily fit 3 plump people. Also the thigh support is good. (If you are looking for better rear seats, you’d probably have to look at Swift).

Bottomless pit in the back of your car rivals any sedan (almost!), and is a major plus. The dash board is huge, and purely cosmetic. There is some space near the gearbox for loose change, your iPod, and etceteras. There is nothing extraordinary about the AC (if you like it real cool really fast, you must consider Micra), though, they should have provided climate control for the price. Audio controls on the steering wheel are pretty standard, and work well, an AUX in is useful, and 4 speakers are much better than most other cars.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox A feisty 90PS engine looks good in books. Jazz does feel underpowered in pothole ridden roads if you have your AC on, though that is true for most hatchbacks. Polo 1.6 is the car to go for if you want quality engine power. The acceleration is far from linear, and it feels alive only above 2000rmp. Also, the gearbox is pretty ordinary. It has given me a 17.1 kmpl on the highway, and a 16.2 overall (I do not use premium petrol).

Ride Quality & Handling This is where Jazz compensates for all its shortfalls. ABS and EBD work like a dream. The car stays super poised in speedy turns (tested extensively), and is probably the most silent car in its class (Micra gets slaughtered here). The steering wheel feels just perfectly weighted. The small snout makes the handling and parking better. The car stays pretty steady at 120, which is the max I have done on it. I had apprehensions about ground clearance, but Jazz has come out with flying colors on this aspect.

Final Words It sure is an expensive hatchback. You could go for i20 Asta (petrol) and get more comfort gear, or a VW Polo (1.6 Highline) and get a massive improvement on engine power, both for significantly lesser. But where Jazz takes the cake is handling, with cabin space, and interiors as the icingand the zillion safety features add to your confidence. To me Jazz rivals most sedans, and is worth the money you spend on it.

Areas of improvement You cannot expect star studded performance form a 1200cc engine, but it will be interesting to see the 1.5litre engine Jazz comes with in Europe (Honda Fit). For the price one would expect automatic climate control too.

comfort, interiors, handling, huge bootmay seem underpowered, pricey

HONDA CITY IS A MAKE SHIFT CAR FOR INDIA. WHERE AS HONDA JAZZ WHICH IS ALSO HONDA FIT IN MANY COUNTRIES IS THE MOST SUCCESSFUL CAR FROM HONDA. PLEASE LOG ON TO HONDA.COM AND SEE FOR YOURSELF. SO, MY FIRST PREFERENCE WAS ALWAYS HONDA JAZZ WITH INTERNATION FIT AND FINISH. WITH A QUALITY THAT JUST CANNOT BE BEATEN BY ANY OTHER HATCH OR SEDAN LIKE SX4, LINEAS, FIESTA AND VENTO.

JAZZ IS JUST AN AMAZING CAR FOR THOSE WHO REALLY LIKE THE BEST QUALITY AND ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT :). IF YOU HAVE A TRADITIONAL MIND SET THEN DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. ELSE, WHO HAVE TRAVELLED ABROAD ATLEAST ONCE WILL SURELY BUY THIS BEAUTY. ;)

HERE IS MY REVIEW I PURCHASED HONDA JAZZ IN THE MID FEB 2011. HERE IS MY FINDING. I HAVE DRIVEN THIS MAROON COLOURED BEAUTY FOR 3687KM IT IS JUST AN AMAZING CAR. THE MORE I SIT IN IT THE MORE I LOVE IT. I THANK TM SINGH FOR HOOKING ME TO IT. I JUST LOVE THE INTERIORS. NO NOISE WHAT SO EVER. I HAVE DRIVEN IT IN LUDHIANA, AMRITSAR IT IS JUST LEAPS AHEAD OF SX4, LINEA, I20 ETC. I KNOW I AM COMPARING WRONG SEGMENTS. BUT JAZZ IS JUST A CUT AHEAD. AC IS EXCELLENT. I JUST HAD MY FIRST FREE SERVICE. NO COST. BUT 4 YEAR WARRAMTY IS HELPFUL. PERFORMANCE IS GOOD PARTICULARLY AFTER 2.5K RPM. AT PRESENT NO MAINTANANCE ISSUE. IT IS SMOOTH AND ABSOLUTELY NO SOUND. I AM ONLY PUTTING EXTRA PREMIUM PETROL. IT NEVER FAILS TO TURN MANY HEADS AROUND. IT IS BETTER THAN HONDA CITY FOR SURE. PRICE IS ON THE HIGHER SIDE BUT IT IS WORTH IT. I GOT USB CONNECTIVITY, DRVER SEAT ADJUSTAR, ALLOY WHEELS ORIGINAL BUT GOOD YEAR TYRES:( IWANTED BRIDGESTONE OR MICHILINE. ANYWAY I AM VERY HAPPY. I RECOMMEND THIS CAR. :):)

Whats wrong with the Japanese giants. Products are very steeply priced. Be it Camry, Altis to just launched Land Cruiser (Toyotas) to Civic, City, CRV to JAZZ (Hondas) bhai, India mei paise Pead par nahi ugtea (Money do not grow on trees in India....may be in Japan..??)

JAZZ is kitten with 1198 C.C. engine that delivers just 40-45 Bhp at 3000 RPM, where maximum driving is done. Vista, Swift, Palio, Punto churn out much more power at the low RPM band.Plz, Click on the link below....

      http://www.carwale.com/research/comparecars/carcomparison.aspx?car1=1550&car2=1410&car3=1146&car4=167

Its time guys, look at much better VFM from Tata-FIAT, Maruti etc. Throwing Rs.7 Lakhs...!! for a hatch..?? Go for Huge Saloons..SX4, LINEA etc. Mind you guys, JAZZ is no Diesel, not even an option. If you have to go for hatch, keep Rs.2-3 Lakhs in Bank fixed deposits to fund fuel cost, Buy Vista, Swift, Punto etc. in price range Rs.4-5.5 Lakhs. These cars have Diesel options also. Plz also, Click on the link below....

      http://www.carwale.com/research/comparecars/carcomparison.aspx?car1=1111&car2=1411&car3=1551&car4=1465

Its double "ROBBERY" by Honda. Charging heavily on customers for Boxy-Bubbly mixure called JAZZ. Then, it is enjoying tax benefits too..!! Jazz is less than 4 meters in length and engine below 1200 C.C. so it has to pay less excise.

HONDA has started WRONG TRADITION of tucking front indicator between Front Grill and Headlamp. When headlamp is in Full-beam front indicator is NOT VISIBLE. Be it Jazz, City, Civic, Accord and even Hyundai i10, Getz & Maruti SX4

Besides, tiny engine of Jazz pumps out Power and Torque at very high RPMs,i.e. very high wear-tear of engine. and extremely costly Honda spares..!!

Its time folks, we must get together as aware customers and control this over "Snatching" of our hard earned money.

      Happy and Alert Motoring..!!

The car has a great steering and ride especially if you are zipping around in a City. She also does great on winding ghats with good grip and responsive steering for a hatchback. Its great for a long drive too. Just the second day I got the car, me and my friend got in and Drove more than 600Km, and did not even feel a bit tired. The power on the low end (2000-3000RPM) is a bit lower than you are generally used to, for one thing, you've all been using low rpm engines, and are used to the rumble, but that is justified this being a high-revving Honda engine, it has power at the high rpm end, and it being a Honda, is sure to last ages even if you keep pushing it hard.
The strongest point of this car is the management of the space. I test drove the i-20, the Punto, Just to compare what I get, and I find that the way the space has been managed, you can easily carry all that you need to carry in the car, along with four very comfy passengers spreading their legs around. Great legroom and headroom.
The cockpit, that is what is the feel when you sit inside and drive, gives a great feel, with clear and futuristic dials, comfy steering wheel and easy to use appliances.
All in all, I am a very satisfied customer. Some may argue that it is "overpriced" but hey, If you're convinced it is overpriced, don't buy one! simple!
I was too, confused initially why it costs that much, but with a test drive it was proved, and with regular use for what, four months now, I'm convinced, it is a very great car.

I own a Jazz Select edition. I have been in love with Jazz from the very first day I took the test drive from the local dealer at kolkata. The ride quality was excellent and immediately I finalised the car. I took the delievry on 20th August,2010.

On the day one it gave me a mileage of 16.9 KPL with AC. The magic seats are excellent which gives me the feel of a sedan. Altough it's too pricy for a HATCH but it is the best it its class. It scores much higher than its competetors.

Exterior Nice Looks, Best in the Hatches in India.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Spacious, spacious like a sedan, good quality of plastics, nice finish.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Good fuel economy. I am getting an average mleage of 14.5 KPL in city with AC. The highest mileage i got is 16.9 with AC. Smooth Gear shift.

Ride Quality & Handling Excellent ride quality and handling. Driver side seat adjustment would have been a good addition.

Final Words Its the best HATCH in India. No one can beat it.

Areas of improvement USB, Climate control AC, Some more features like Indicators on ORVMS, More colour options. HONDA should increase its dealers in kolkata.

Design,Driving Comfort,Quality of Interiors, Space,Good MileageNo USB, Lack of Driver side seat adjustment
