The car is superb and has very good road grip on the road It is a pleasure to drive this car rather than the driver driving this car . U feel as if u r the king on the road driving this car Maintenance zero only service at 40000km and 80000 kmis expensive since they change all oils filters coolant brake shoesetc I thinkj this is with all the cars Thne car runs like new even after 40000 kms of run Bhp of the car is 100 and power to weight ratio is also very good 1500cc engine giving u 100 bhp this is great u can compare it with all other cars the Bhp is low even if it is 1500cc or moresuperb fuel efficiency gives upt0 18kmpl on high waywith good pickupok interiors very spacious

I'm enjoying the drive of my honda city car 1.3 exi (1999). It is too much stylish as arm rest in back seat, seat belt in back seat. all window is equiped with power window, power brake, power steering. Very comfirtable in city and long journey too. I've tried my car on rural muddy road also and never feel any jerk as other cars. It's pickup in 5th gear in slow speed is also so admirable. Car never be slow during AC on condition means pickup doesn't disturbed due to extra AC load as some other car. I never worry during overtake any other vehicle due to good pickup and good speed in very few seconds.

But, fuel consumption is lil less as per the standard declaration of the company, my car use to give 10-10.5 kms/ltr in city without AC and 15 kms/ltr in highway without AC.  Whenever as per the company the city average is 13 and on highway 18 without AC.

Overall very good car for city and highway too.

Stylish, Comfirtable, no break down, reliableHumming Sounds during high speed, fuel consumption

Driving a Honda City 1.5 Gxi is both satisfying and adventourous. It is like a beautiful young lady. You know she looks and feels good ,but you also know that she is gettting old and lagging behind in the race. The interiors are very good, though an expensive car like this should have had a cabin temprature indicator and more of cabin light for the passengers. The exteriors are very stunning and a delight to see, though fog lamps ,rear screen wipers and rear spoiler are lacking and should have been there. The boot space is very good and you can carry all you can dream of.The Airconditioning is good thogh the rear vents under the front seats are not very effective. The ride quality is good on good roads and bad on bad roads and highways, which i think should have been thought off,for such an expensive car,as " Being good when the going is good is not a asset".It does lack the power and accelartaion one needs when overtaking on the highway, the 77 bhp engine just cannot cope up.The milage is another draw back mine gives 11.5 km/litre( I have got the same on highway also, and mind it my driving style is not bad). When on the highway you got to watch the road as the low ground clearence can land you in trouble.it is okay to say that it is an urban lady ,but when one buys an expensive car ,then it will be used both in the city and on the highway.Overall a good buy ,though it comes with a primium as you have to go in for the extras like the fog lamps, door visors, rear spoiler, etc.Boy it sur is a cool lady with lot of air.Very stylish,Hond reputation,Good iteriors,Ample space,Powerful A/cLow ground clearence,Low milage, slightly underpowered.

I own a City for now 3 years. I think the factors which are important to a car are the following:

Engine - it has one which is marvelous, so the performance is not a problem. Fuel economy is the best in the class. One doesn't feel while driving this car that it is a task even on the busiest of the roads. Fantastic road handling and manuverability.

Comfort and Safety - I am very happy with comfort, I used to drive maruti vehicles before, it is certainly over any maruti car. I met with an accident a few months back. Another car hit my city from the Left - full blown. The other car (wagon r) was completely damaged. My wife who was sitting on the left got saved with minor injuries. I can tell you that either we were lucky or we are talking about a very strong vehicle.

Spares and Service - Most of the damage was taken care by the insurance company. But whatever little I had to do on my own  punched a hole in my wallet. Spares are expensive. One has to take appointment for getting the car serviced and never gets it before close of the day. I clearly think they have sold more cars than they can handle. Servce can get better.

I strongly recommend this car. It is a pleasure to drive a honda.

      Copycat

Great engine, best in the class for fuel ecomomy, descent performanceexpensive spares, need for more service stations, a bit expensive but still a value for money.

Really improved from last honda city in driving comfort. Fuel economy & excellent exteriors. It really catches attention of everyone. You can't ignore the look if it from Sideways & Behind. Front arrowshot design could have been made better with steel looking grills (like civic).

Interiors: Not upto the mark. Sometime we may say it is the design - alright, we must appreciate innovative design of honda. But after buying I came across poor workmanship too. Many of the plastic parts started coming out from their location viz - A/C air duct cover, Gear lever cover started fallong down, plastic frames surrounding the front wind shield on outer side too started giving way. It apprears as wide temperature range of India didn't suit this new Honda City. These small things are now added with the roof top defect. Roof top from front has started to devlope some gap which is on the increasing trend. Lets see if they attend to it. More over as a buyer one must be careful if the new car is going to suit indian climatic condition or not. Or we must go for the Car model which is already in the market for atleast a year & above. Brand like Honda & the cost associated with it definately demands a certain benchmark quality. Customers like me who have purchased New Honda City (looking at its brand) just three months back are also taken by surprise after not getting proper interiors. My concern is still under discussion with Honda authorities. Hope next lot of the Honda city will come with better suited fixtures to suit indian climatetic condition.

Other Car in the same price band is Fiat Linea - An excellent car by review, one must check it. Else if you are ready to pay a bit more than - Honda Civic & Toyota Altis can be looked upon.

Fuel Economy with AC - 16 KM/Ltr on highway; Really very GoodInteriors - Not upto the mark, Too much plastic, NO CD player, Just an USB jack not acceptable

All new CITY scores in style, refinement, decent perfomence, good comfort, technology.being with honda it has a brand image.good economy, safety features as standard.but in countrys like india vfm play a important role.it doesn't have climate control, alloy wheels, even foglamps.shame on honda at this premium price it lacks vital equipment.soft suspension makes ride not great feel.handling is fair.we can find body roll at corners.interior plastics are horrible.rear styling is not great body control is good.Highway capabilty is limited because of steering.steering whhel borrowed from civic at last get mounted audio controls. If you want to buy this car then only reason for going it will be S AT.decent economy, style, great engine & gear box(MT & AT) ,comfort, paddle shift (AT)interior quality, price, stingy eqiupment list

Despite numerous rivals, the city has always been the numero uno in its class, the city as its name suggests is a great city car due to its easy to use short throw gearbox, comfy interiors, light steering which is a boon in traffic. The idsi engine gives 77bhp which seems small in paper but it does not feel underpowerd , but the main reason for its success is its mileage which at 12 in city is brilliant considering that its a petrol motor.Buying a city also means very good resale value due to its success in the market , also the HONDA service is excellent. Of course its not all roses , the frugal engine means its nowhere as fun as the fiesta 1.6 , the light steering is a problem in highways. The v-tec though powerful is overpriced at 9 lakhs. With the sx4 competion has become cut throat ,but for those who want a comfy , frugal midsizer its the one to buy.mileage , resale value , comfort , easy to use gearbox, interiorsexi is under equipped, v-tec overpriced, performance

I have three specific issues which compares very badly with Accent my previous car.

      • Less spacious and three people cannot sit comfortably in the back which we were able to do in Accent
      • We have to bang the door to shut unlike the soft closure in Accent Car.
      • Door handles from inside also compares very poorly with that of Accent.
      • Otherwise overall very responsive and good style. Actually I wanted to go for a Verna but changed the mind in the last minute for Honda as I wanted to try a different brand having had two cars from Hyundai which were very good and very moderately priced for maintenance. I have heard that the service quality for Honda is poor and that there are not many service centers.
Good fuel economy, very smooth and style, very responsive.Three persons cannot comfortably sit in the back which we were able to do comfortably in Accent

      Exterior Simply gorgeous.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Beautiful very rich look interiors and spacious.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Noiceless smooth running engine with good fuel economy and gearbox.

Ride Quality & Handling Excellent experience in driving.

Final Words Nothing can beat the Honda City Old. Many people like me who were the owners of that old city are longing for the same car with the same performance. still many of us who own that car because of the crush, charm and craze for that car though it crossed 15 years old, still we own it for its expcellent performance.

Any chance, the company can manufacture the same car, with the same performance with the same body shape sedan type. we are eagerly looking for the same car. I have owned the car for 5 years and after that as went for the same honda city zxi I sold it out the Honda City Old type. but still I have the craze for the HONDA CITY OLD. nothing can be equated to its performance on highways.  My humble request is to manufacture the same car for the fans who wish to buy it again in the new make.

Excellent model in honda. nothing can beat honda city old. marvellous experiencetravelling in thatNil.

My Old Honda City 1.5 EXI(2001) went for a much delayed service to Whitefield Honda with 58000kms on the odo.
The following were the major expenses(all approx):
      1. Front and back bumpers( parts, painting and labour) Rs.10000 each
      2. Front both fenders(parts, painting and labour) Rs.20,000 each
      3. Both headlights Rs.5000 each

      Still have to do
      1. Brake pad replacement (Whitefield Honda is quoting Rs.5000). Made a few enquiries outside and everybody said around 1200 for Bosch/Nissin.
      2. Horn replacement (Whitefield Honda quoted Rs.5000)
      3. Power windows: Iam able to down the left front window only through the driver switch but raise it back only through passenger switch. White Field Honda service guys say the problem is in the main switch board at the driver side. Needs replacement. Cost Rs. 10000. I let it pass.
