Every once in a generation one product becomes a benchmark. Genius is really just total  of some common sense , and clever little innovations.

I finally test drove the ALL NEW accord. Wow!!!!! nimble handling, very little body roll, great steering like,  I have never experienced before. The car is incredibly well made with lots and lots of clever features. It will not be possible to detail them all in this review. Other articles in the forums have detailed some of the features. I am sure other car companies are tearing up this accord and scratching their heads and wondering, how they were caught napping..

The best part is that even though the car is actually bigger, it feels very much smaller from the drivers seat. Turns are precise. This is a drivers' car. I hit a decent pot hole and the car just soaked it in.

Only negative is the front wheel drive. While I was starting on gravel,  I got the wheels to spin for a while.

The other major negative is offcourse the price. Just imagine if we could get this at the 10 Lakhs or so that it actually costs.

Wow!!Hats of to the Honda Engineers...The pain you have taken shows...

Features that I liked:

Steering- new variable gear ratio leads to better lane changing at high speed while giving adequate steer for turns.

Suspension- Double wishbone front vs old mcphereson strut. I believe this allows better tire contact during cornering.

Also the suspension geometry results in higher roll center. Combined with lower CG (10mm)they have reduced body roll.

Braking: Much better due to anti dive nature of suspension geometry that causes the car to remain level in braking and not dip like those old cars and SUVs.

Body: GCON - body designed to reduce "g" levels during impact by clever use of high strength steels(almost 40% of body). Also Body stiffness is higher by 20%. This meens the body will  react better to rough road and other road imperfections. This is significant.

Airbags- Variable and will deploy in stages after sensing the impact level. Also highly developed side impact curtains. Effectively creates a cocoon for the passengers.

Apillar reduced- By making the apillar thinner visibility is increased without impacting rollover strength.

Interiors- Excellent.

yea ppl i do took a test drive of both cars, the new accord and the laura, though the accord is new, modern and good in looks it lacks the cost efficiency delivering just 6 km for a liter of petrol well laura has looks of more refined and the features like zenon headlamps TPM distance to empty has more worth and the diesel cost advantage is really gr8 while and the solid feel n laura rocks when compared with accord with 5.6 turning radius driving in city traffic is really a tough job

The only competition of accord is Laura auto which is a totally diff concept, hence aimed for diff buyers.Laura comes with DSG which is by far the best auto gear box in the world(better than even ferraris),great build quality and a whole lot of electronics(parktronic, rain sensors, etc ) but where it falls behind accord is size, looks, space & power.

Good than we agree, since I recommend this car in the first place.

sir,you are only going away from the topic(people only want to know the products, not how companies are run).I'm just telling that accord has a hideous dashboard, great exteriors inspired by the BMW(except for the cheap looking sports body kit in INSPIRE version),an engine that's no longer peppy and overall a car meant for being driven around in comfort rather than a driver's car. So,it IS possible to say one is better than the other, right? But in INDIA,accord is a better choice because of the pric

Hi Aakash, I have covered the main differences between Honda and Toyota in my Civic Vs Corolla article under Toyota corolla. Most car companies have a clear philosophy and culture that translates into their products. Also most have very clear target buyers. As such it is impossible to say that one is better than the other. From a technology stand point there is not much that one has that the others do not. It comes down to planning, and execution and as I mentioned a philosophy.

well sir the comparison part was not for you,it was for the readers.Whatever I have written here is from the mag:TOPGEAR.They themselves say all that I wrote.People(not necessarily you and no satire intended)read overdrive and other mags which are a bit biased towards honda and that is how people end up saying honda is better than toyota, which is wrong.

Honestly Akash, i appreciate your feedback, However I do not understand what your point really is? Accord is a good product for driver and passenger.99% of the world uses it to drive and not be driven. It CAN be compared to Camry and passat since they are in the same segment(my article was not a comparison, so I am not sure how you got the idea that I compared them. As far as interiors it is more a personal choice assuming basic quality of materials and fit and finish is decent.

Aakash 272 on 18 Jun, 2008 at 12:03 PM

You've got it all wrong sir. This accord is NOT a driver's car,it's a chauffeur driven one instead and the major trump card it plays is the price.Even CR-V buyers are shifting to the accord. It belongs to the same segment all over the world as CAMRY though it's 6 lac cheaper. It could'nt be cheaper!!It's the best car at its price though you should'nt be carried away to start comparing it with passat or camry.Strangely, the camry still has better interiors though it's 3 years elder to this accord.
