Even though the
styling of the Verna seems contemporary you always end up comparing it with the
Accent. The external additions of the body of the Verna seem to blend together
with the shape and this sets it apart from the Accent. Overall if we have to
discuss the styling we will not say that it is really good looking. It is more
pleasing to the eye.
The performance
is good and the build quality, impressive. The 1.6l Petrol and the 1.4l diesel are
powerful, putting out 103bhp at 5500rpm and 110bhp at 4000rpm respectively. The
suspension is definitely a breath of fresh air wherein the ride quality within
the bumpy roads of the city is light years ahead of the Accent. The diesel
deserves special mention in terms of power. It is very responsive and that
extra thrust makes this sedan special.
The interiors
are spacious and the fit and finish is made to look attractive even though it
is plastic. For a sedan, the interiors, fit and finish are adept to say the
least. The petrol offers close to 10kpl within the city and around 15kpl on
open roads. But the diesel churns out 13kpl within the city itself and 18kpl on
the highway. Along with the power it churns out this is really good. The diesel
is close to the total package.
It does offer a
good deal in the very competitive segment that it is trying to get into in
terms of performance and reliability.
