I can't believe that Volkswagen will bring Jetta in India at a higher price to Honda Civic. In the USA, this car is positioned next to the Civic.

Just go to Edmunds.com and read reviews b/w Jetta and Civic before you buy anything. The same models are being offered in India.

And I don't get this:
1) Skoda, Audi, VW are owned by same company.
2) Skoda has the latest platform in Laura. And believe it or not, Skoda's reliability ratings are consistently better than VW over the years. Other things going for Skoda (relative to VW) are its bigger dealer network (50+ for Skoda, 7 for VW).

In absolute terms though, Skoda is a scam as well. All over the world (except India) the Laura is just the next version of Octavia. And its called Octavia all over the world. In India, Skoda guys did the clever trick of badging it "Laura" and charging 3L more for it.

I don't know when these foreign car makers will give respect to Indian buyers...

    you are right , why is everyonw foolling us around? octavia looks outdated , why not offer laura at it's place ? this is because we do not have strong cosumer courts

    Hi Ash, it is not just Skoda doing the versioning scam. Maruti is doing with 800, Alto and possibly A star. Same car,three generations sold simultaneously. Mitsubishi doing it with Lancer and Cedia and possibly Lancer Evo also. Hyundai did it with Verna and Accent. i wont be surprised if Honda does it with City.

    You were right on. Jetta is a actually a peice of trash in the US and is made in mexico and had the highest no of unsatisfied customers. Hey! but I don't blame the car manufacturers because they know exactly how Indian decide when they want to buy a car. Its more of a show off for Indians rather than doing something better in life. As regards respect it will only come when a buyer is intelligent enough to understand what he did not get for the price and not what he got.

    Indian Luxury Car Buyers are attracted to all this model due to Diesel engine, if government hike the price of Diesel equal to Petrol price for Luxury cars then buyer will compare the quality and available facility with all this Foreign cars to Price.
