Not worth buying, needs some basic improvements

   Hi Arun,
   
   I have almost finalised on a Laura but your experience shattered my confidence a bit. can you please give me more details on
   1) How much typically does a servicing cost?
   2) How old is your vehicle, are these points that you mentioned taken into consideration by Skoda and have they taken corrective action in their new version?
   3) I already have an Octavia and i quite agree that the rear seats are a pain to sit with cramped legroom. Is the situation same in Laura?

   Also Arun, can you elaborate a bit more on the engine performance? The pick up from ground zero speed, how does the car respond at high speeds?

   Hi Sripad,
   Thanks for your query.
   A normal service in routine costs min. about Rs 7500/-ie. rs per kilometer.Also the company says that it is must to use synthetic oil to keep warranty operational.my car is 22 months old and still under warranty. The company has already replaced its Turbo(under gaurantee)but I had to approach the company officials to direct the dealer to replace it.I understand they have not done the improvements in the car till date. The rear seat is almost same as octavia.

   Hi Sripad,
   Engine is good except noise that is felt in the cabin.The controls are good at high speed and pick up is also very good.The AT response is also very good while overtaking.But the poor AC? during summer?

   friends
   a car with worst possible a/c (will remind you of good old days of maruti 800)and i really mean that.
   loads of electrical faults
   exceptionally rude service staff
   to give you an example of my own my vehicle (laura automatic (2007 april model)air conditioning is at par with the worst ) and to prove this anybody just see my car's serice record. the registration number is dl 8c l 4027.

   try setting the temp manually.It's strange you guys ain't proud of your laura."loads of electrical faults"-What kind of faults?The equipment & electronic list is so extensive even accord-2008 can't compete with it.

   can u tell me more about laura tyres ? i heard that the tyres r not worth for indian roads and get bubbles within a few kilomoters ??

   Tyres are available in the market of so many makes. All the tyres do not get bubbled. The bubbling of tyres do not depend on your car and it can be claimed under warranty from tyre mfr.
   In my car, in the begining ,the bubbles were observed in one tyre, but the same was replaced free of cost by Skoda Dealer.however the milage (Tyre life in kilometers) is lesser in Skoda AT as compared to others available in the market.

    I completely agree with you. looks like they fit a Maruti800 A/c in Skoda Laura. Customer care dogdes queries. Mails to MD and Sales director bounce. Skoda India shying away from problem. Is their any legal action tht can be taken against the company for providing deficient product & design. Did u succeed in talking to any senior official of the company? If yes pls provide me with the details at ajayo@aptech.ac.in .Thanks.
