Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) announced the start of its festive campaign ‘Q Celebrations’ – a service campaign with free check up for all Toyota models  across its dealerships in India.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor announced the start of exports of its “World First, India First”- Toyota Etios & Etios Liva to South Africa. The company plans to begin export by March 2012.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor registered sales of 12,807 units in September 2011 as compared to 6,235 units in September 2010. The company sales grew by 105% when compared to the corresponding period last year.

The new Toyota Prius Plug-in offers flexible performance, thanks to its powertrain which combines an electric motor, a lithium-ion battery and a petrol engine. This will allow drivers to cover more than 14 miles in EV mode, using power from its hybrid battery, after which the vehicle will seamlessly switch to power from its full hybrid system, including the 1.8-litre VVT-i petrol engine. This means the driver need suffer no “range anxiety” about the distance the car can cover.

With a back to back win at the 6 Hours of Silverstone on 11th September, following their victory at Imola in July, Rebellion Racing have scored enough points to secure victory in the Le Mans Series Manufacturers' Championship for Lola-Toyota with one race still to go.

The Etios is Toyota’s first offering in the entry level sedan category in India and has so far been successful in its initial few months. It is a practical car with acres of space, good fuel efficiency and of course the Toyota badge, which is quite aspirational in our country.  At the launch of the Etios in December 2010, Toyota had announced that it would launch diesel version too. Now, with the festive season just around the corner and petrol prices reaching for the stars, the Japanese manufacturer has jumped into the entry level diesel sedan market with the diesel Etios.

We review the diesel versions of the Toyota Etios and the Etios Liva that will be launched on the 9th of September. The Etios and Etios Liva both get the same 1.4-litre engine that churns out 68bhp of power and 170Nm of torque. This is the same D-4D engine that does duty even on the Corolla Altis.

The Toyota Etios and Etios Liva diesels have been rumoured to get a 76bhp engine. Apparently that isn't true.

Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) has set a new lap record for an electric vehicle (EV) at the legendary 20.8km Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany. The TMG EV P001, with 100% electric powertrain and Jochen Krumbach at the wheel, set a new lap record of 7mins 47.794secs to beat the previous lap record, which stood at 9mins 1.338secs, by a very substantial margin.

After the launch of the Etios Liva this year, Toyota Motors will now launch the diesel version of the Etios and the hatchback Etios Liva on the 9th of September.
