Tata Motors Group global wholesales, including Jaguar Land Rover stood at 102,411 units in February 2011, thus registering a growth of 14% over February 2010. Global sales of all passenger vehicles were 55,664 units in February 2011, higher by 18%. Cumulative sales for the fiscal are 514,681 units, a growth of 27%.

Tata Motors launched the Tata Indica eV. According to the ARAI the car gives a mileage of 25 kmpl for the CR4 diesel engine. Built on the Tata Indica platform, the Tata Indica eV2 succeeds the Indica.

Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in February 2011 were 77,543 vehicles. The passenger vehicles business reported a total sale and distribution of 33,751 nos of both Fiat and Tata put together.

Tata Motors today announced an increase in the prices of some passenger vehicles and all its commercial vehicles. The increase is effective from today. The price increase in passenger cars is on the Tata Indica and the Tata Indigo family, in the range of Rs. 4,500 to Rs. 14,000, depending upon the model. In utility vehicles, the price increase is on Tata Sumo and Tata Grande MK II, in the range of Rs. 7,800 to Rs.10,300 The price increase is in the light of increase in input costs.

Tata Motors’ total sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in August 2010 were 65,938 vehicles. Tata Motors registered a growth of 32% over 49,810 vehicles sold in August 2009. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for August 2010 were 60,781, a 29% growth over 47,126 sold in August last year. 

Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in June 2010 were 67,730 vehicles, a growth of 49% over 45,440 vehicles sold in June 2009. The company’s domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for June 2010 were 62,602, a 45% growth over 43,284 sold in June last year.

Tata will probably soon launch its Indica Vista Ignis. The Vista Ignis will be powered with a 1.4-litre Grande Punto petrol powerplant. The Ignis will the top end variant in the Indica Vista range and will approximately cost around Rs 5 lakh.

Italian design house Pininfarina, whose portfolio includes cars from Ferraris to the Tata Indica, has announced that it will put on sale an electric car for the Indian market by 2014.
