Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) informed press yesterday that Japanese carmaker Nissan has ordered for 35,000 units of A-Star to sell in the international market.

Japanese car maker Suzuki's Kizashi which was displayed at the Auto Expo held last month in Delhi, is likely to be launched in India by end of this year.

The auto sector in India is on a roll. According to estimates, the industry will soon cross the 10 million mark. A feat in itself, considering the recessionary period all went through.

Volkswagen and Suzuki Motor Corporation have reached a common understanding to establish a close longterm strategic partnership. A framework agreement has been signed by representatives of both companies today. 

Maruti Suzuki’s A-Star crossed export mark of 1 lakh units, with the shipment from Mundra Port. The company has achieved 1 lakh units cumulative export of A-star in less than a year since its first shipment to Europe in January this year.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited launched the Estilo.  The Estilo comes equipped with a 998cc K-series engine which fulfills the BS-IV norms. The basic model is available at Rs 3.12 lakh as an introductory offer (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Suzuki will invest about Rs 1,500 crore in the coming 6-7 years to set up a research and development centre at Rohtak in Haryana. Maruti Suzuki will complete the 700-acre plot in two phases by 2015.

Maruti Suzuki plans to upgrade its existing Alto model. In 2010, the new cars manufactured for the 11 major Indian cities will have to pass the BS IV pollution norm.

Maruti Suzuki’s sales grew up by 24% in February 2009 as compared to the February 2008. The company sold 79,190 units (including exports) compared to 63,822 units sold last February.

All-wheel-drive (AWD) versions of Suzuki's new Wagon R, recently launched in Japan, are being equipped with GKN Driveline Torque Technology's Viscodrive® coupling.
