The first Skoda Yeti rolled off the assembly line at Skoda’s Kvasiny, Czech Republic plant on Tuesday 12 May 2009.  With the start of series production, Skoda has officially introduced its fifth model line and entered the crossover segment.  The very first Yeti spotted leaving the production hall was an Aqua Blue, four-wheel drive model, fitted with a 1.8 TSI engine.

Skoda Auto presents facelifted versions of the Octavia RS and the Octavia Scout (known as Laura in India). After the revised Octavia launched late last year, the Octavia RS and the Octavia Scout have now been facelifted as well. Besides numerous design changes, both cars offer an air quality sensor for the Climatronic air conditioning system.

Skoda India has unveiled its new Superb for the Indian market. The new Superb is priced at Rs 18.88 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and is powered by 1.8l, 160bhp petrol engine.

Skoda has unveiled its SUV, the Yeti at the Geneva Motor Show which commenced on the 3rd of March 2009. The car will come with two petrol and three diesel engines.

Skoda India announced the opening of its first spare parts warehouse in India. Built on an area of 7600 square meters, the facility will commence operations on 1st March ‘09 and will serve as the spare parts centre for SkodaAuto’s markets across India.

Compared to 2007, Å koda Auto's total sales grew by 7.1 % and reached 674,530 vehicles. Considering the impact of the financial crisis in the second half of 2008, this is a good result.
