We had earlier reported that Suzuki was developing some diesel engines in the range of 0.8-litres to 1.6-litres to power a variety of vehicles that it will launch over the next few years. The Indo-Japanese automaker currently uses the Fiat sourced 1.3-litre Multijet diesel to power its entire fleet of oil burners.

Pictures of the 2014 BMW M3 and M4 have been ‘leaked’ ahead of their official launch at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show. According to the new nomenclature, the two-door coupes and the convertible (expected in 2015) will now on be called as M4 while the legendary M3 badge will only adorn the four-door saloons. Prices for the saloon in UK will start at £56,000 (Rs 56.5 lakh), while the M4 Coupe will be a bit more expensive.

The Tata Indica Vista D90 has been discontinued by Tata Motors suggests a report from Cartoq. The Indian automaker’s diesel hot hatch has been in the market for just under a year but is believed to have not added much numbers to the Vista’s total sales figure. While the report suggest the discontinuation, it must be noted that Tata’s official website still has the car listed along with an official brochure and prices.

The Tata Nano will get the much needed power steering which is being developed for it by ZF. It will be launched on January 15, 2014 and will be dearer by Rs 15,000 than the current top-end variant. There are no details on whether it will have a hydraulic unit or an EPS. It will be called the ‘Nano Twist’.

Back in February this year, Isuzu India brought into the market, the D-Max pickup truck and MU-7 SUV. At that time, the cars were being brought to India via CBU and the MU-7 SUV was priced at Rs 23.75 lakh (ex-showroom Hyderabad). Now, Isuzu India has started CKD production of the BS IV complaint MU-7 and has pegged its price at Rs 22.4 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai). The MU-7 is also available in a BS III variant that is priced at Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai).

Toyota may be developing a new, compact SUV based on the Etios platform. Well known for producing UV marvels like the Land Cruiser and the famed Hilux pick-up truck, Toyota does not have a vehicle smaller than the Rush SUV (about the same size as a Renault Duster) and this vehicle, when launched will take up the mantle of being the smallest SUV from the company. It currently produces a beefed up version of the Etios for the Brazilian market called the Etios Cross which follows the same principle as VW’s Cross Polo.

Honda City Diesel is one of the most awaited cars of this year. The Japanese automaker, on November 25, finally took the wraps off its 2014-spec City at a press conference in Delhi.
