Tata Motors inaugurated its Sanand plant for producing Tata Nano, in Ahmedabad district of Gujaratby the hands of the Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Narendra Modi, in the presence of the Chairman of Tata Sons and Tata Motors, Mr. Ratan N. Tata, Ministers of the Gujarat Government, top officials, vendor and supplier partners, dealers and associates of the company.

Tata Nano, the car that has been making news ever since it made appearance in the previously held Auto Expo, will finally roll out of the Sanand factory in Gujarat. Tata had to shift ground from Singur in West Bengal because of farmer strikes and currently the car is being manufactured at its makeshift plant in Pantnagar in Uttarakhand.

“A promise is a promise,” said Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Motors, on 10th January, 2008, when the Nano was first displayed at the Auto Show in Delhi. The Nano project didn’t grab the attention of only Indians; the entire world had their eyes glued to the world’s cheapest car.
