Fear of rising prices post budget made customers buy before the new fiscal; doubts have now arisen if the sales momentum will be held during the rest of the year.

The cumulative production data for April-June 2011 shows production growth of 18.43 percent over same period last year. In June 2011 as compared to June 2010, production grew at 16.61 percent.

Ssangyong Motor Company, part of the US$11.1 billion Mahindra Group, sold 10,343 units in the month of April, 3,980 in Korean market and 6,363 abroad (including CKD). The April sales record represents 2 consecutive months of sales exceeding 10,000 units, and 47% increase when compared with the same period of the previous year. The cumulative sales up to April shows 59% increase over the same period.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd continued to grow at a steady pace with domestic sales growing at 12% for the month of November, 2010. HMIL’s total sales for November, 2010 stood at 44,542 units as against 55,241 units in November, 2009 registering a decline of 19.4%.

General Motors India registered a sales growth of 45% in July 2010, compared to the corresponding period last year. The July 2010 sales comprised 2244 units of the Chevrolet Spark, 1722 units of Chevrolet Beat, 1546 units of the Chevrolet Tavera, 639 units of the Chevrolet Cruze, 375 Units of Chevrolet Aveo, 240 units of Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, 225 units of the Chevrolet Captiva and 133 units of Chevrolet Optra.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd registered its growth in the domestic sales by 24.2% over the same month last year.  HMIL’s total sales for July, 2010 stood at 50,411 units as against 45,539 units in July, 2009 registering a 10.7% cumulative growth over the same period last year. The domestic sales accounted for 28,811 units as against 23,193 units in July, 2009 while the exports declined by 3.3% from 22,346 units in July, 2009 to 21,600  units in July, 2010.

Ford India reported a 307%  jump in July sales compared to last year, with total sales of 8,739 units, four times the 2,146 sales made in July 2009. The sales performance also represents an increase of 20 percent compared to June 2010 figures. With the sales figure in July, Ford India has achieved a total vehicle sales of 46,751 units from January 2010.

Mumbai:  With more than 25,000 sales bookings registered since its launch in March, the Ford Figo has cemented its reputation as one of India's most in demand new cars.

General Motors India today announced the appointment of Mr. Sumit Sawhney as the new Vice President – Sales, Marketing & Aftersales with effect from August 1, 2010.  He will replace Ankush Arora, who has been transferred to GMDAT Korea as Vice President – Sales, Service & Marketing.

Audi continued its exceptional performance in India this year. The company has recorded half-yearly sales of 1400 cars- the highest ever for Audi in India, a growth of 71%.
