BMW surges ahead in the sales battle

The battle between Mercedes-Benz and BMW is getting fierce by the day as both the German automakers have been busy working on their sales and marketing strategies. Until last month, it seemed like Audi was doing the catching up as the figures until May suggested so. Till last month (May 2011), BMW figures for the year were 3,634 units compared to Mercedes-Benz which wasn’t far enough at 3,233 units and Audi had managed to close in the gap as they were sitting at 2,394 units (In the whole of 2010, audi had sold 3003 units).

Nissan India Sells 1249 units in August 2010

Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) announced that it has registered total sales of 1249 units for the month of August 2010 as against 22 units in August 2009. The Nissan Micra spearheaded the sales figures with 1182 units in Aug 2010 as against 928 nos sold in July 2010. We got a chance to test the car and have posted our views about the cars performance. Volkswagen Registers a Sales Growth of 120.7 percent

Volkswagen Group India surpassed the cumulative sales figures of the year 2009 by the month of July 2010. The three brands of the Group – Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen – delivered in total 21,333 vehicles to customers from January to July 2010 as compared to 9664 cars sold from January to July 2009, up by 11,669 cars, taking the company’s growth to the highest ever in India at 120.7% percent.

Volkswagen Group Sells Over Four Million Vehicles From January to July Worldwide

The Volkswagen Group sold more than 4 million vehicles in the period from January to July. 4.16 as against to 2009's  3.65, a growth of 13.7 percent. The four million vehicles were delivered to customers during the first seven months of the current year. In July, the Volkswagen Group delivered 572,200 vehicles worldwide. “After a very successful first six months we got off to a good start in the second half of the year. Over the coming months we will continue on our growth path with our model range and will perform better than the competition. However, this will be a challenge, given an operating environment that is again becoming difficult. Now that incentive programs have come to an end, the global automotive market is expected to decline in the second half of the year. There will not be a return to the high pre-crisis levels this year" said Christian Klingler, Group Board Member for Sales.

Mahindra Logan Sales Go Up After Renault Walk-Out

The Mahindra-Renault Joint Venture came to an end earlier this year. The Joint Venture, 51% owned by Mahindra & Mahindra and 49% by Renault, has till date launched only one vehicle, the Mahindra-Renault Logan. The state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Nashik in Maharashtra too was a product of this partnership. The sedan attracted some attention but the sales figures showed otherwise. Its sales plummeted the last fiscal year. Consequently, the JV lost about Rs. 5 billion during that fiscal year.

Nissan India Registers 1005 nos Total Sales in July 2010

Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) announced that it registered a total sales figure of 1005 numbers for the month of July 2010. Out of the 1005, the sales of the newly launched Nissan Micra were 928 units in July 2010. The sales for the Nissan Micra commence don the 15th of July. Out of the remaining, 27 units of the Nissan Teana were and sales figures for the Nissan X-trail was 50 units.

Hyundai Registers 24.2% Sales Growth in July

Hyundai Motor India Ltd registered its growth in the domestic sales by 24.2% over the same month last year.  HMIL’s total sales for July, 2010 stood at 50,411 units as against 45,539 units in July, 2009 registering a 10.7% cumulative growth over the same period last year. The domestic sales accounted for 28,811 units as against 23,193 units in July, 2009 while the exports declined by 3.3% from 22,346 units in July, 2009 to 21,600  units in July, 2010.
