The new Toyota Prius Plug-in offers flexible performance, thanks to its powertrain which combines an electric motor, a lithium-ion battery and a petrol engine. This will allow drivers to cover more than 14 miles in EV mode, using power from its hybrid battery, after which the vehicle will seamlessly switch to power from its full hybrid system, including the 1.8-litre VVT-i petrol engine. This means the driver need suffer no “range anxiety” about the distance the car can cover.

Seems like this is the season of recalls. After the huge fiasco in international markets over Honda and Toyota's recalling of its highest selling cars Accord, Prius and now latest being Corolla; Maruti - the largest Indian car manufacturer has recalled its flagship export brand A-star due to a fault in fuel pump.

Toyota very recently came under crisis after the company announced recall of its one of the best selling products - Corolla, from its stable, after receiving complaints about problems in its power steering.

In spite of being engulfed in crisis internationally over the Toyota’s first hybrid car ‘Prius’, Toyota India today went ahead and began their exhibition of various products including the Prius in Mumbai today; also unveiling the Etios sedan and hatchback concepts. The show being held today and tomorrow will showcase the ‘green’ products as well as new variants from the Toyota stable.
