The Tata Nano gets the much needed power steering, developed by ZF. It will be launched on 15th January 2014 and will be dearer by Rs 15,000 than the current Top end variant. There are no details a whether it will have a hydraulic unit or an EPS. It will be called the ‘Nano Twist’.

Back in February this year, Isuzu India brought into the market, the D-Max pickup truck and MU-7 SUV. At that time, the cars were being brought to India via CBU and the MU-7 SUV was priced at Rs 23.75 lakh (ex-showroom Hyderabad). Now, Isuzu India has started CKD production of the BS IV complaint MU-7 and has pegged its price at Rs 22.4 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai). The MU-7 is also available in a BS III variant that is priced at Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai).

Toyota may be developing a new, compact SUV based on the Etios platform. Well known for producing UV marvels like the Land Cruiser and the famed Hilux pick-up truck, Toyota does not have a vehicle smaller than the Rush SUV (about the same size as a Renault Duster) and this vehicle, when launched will take up the mantle of being the smallest SUV from the company. It currently produces a beefed up version of the Etios for the Brazilian market called the Etios Cross which follows the same principle as VW’s Cross Polo.

Honda City Diesel is one of the most awaited cars of this year. The Japanese automaker, on November 25, finally took the wraps off its 2014-spec City at a press conference in Delhi. This is the first Honda City car with a diesel engine. Smartly, Honda left the public wanting for more as they did not reveal the engine’s power output or the prices. Now, there has been a breach in that plan and a Motorbash reader has provided some pictures of a camouflage-free but taped car. He also claimed to have driven the car.

This is what happens when the art of camouflaging flops. Volvo should know that better. CAR reader Rory Smith snapped some shots of a mysteriously tall Volvo wagon mule in West Yorskshire, England. This test car was using the shell of a V70 which was not doing too good a job with the cover-up. We expect that under that covering is the long-awaited Volvo XC90.

Renault India has announced that it will increase the price on its existing product range from January 2014. The hike will be in line with industry standards and is due to the swelling inputs cost, which has further driven up the cost of components. The French automaker has not however, announced the quantum of the hike.

When the German sportscar maker’s medium-sized SUV, the 2014 Porsche Macan crossover, debuted at the 2013 LA Motor Show it was offering only two variants- the S and the Turbo, both mid-to upper end trims. According to a report in Autocar, there are entry-level offerings for the SUV on the way. News is that Porsche engineers have confirmed that a pair of turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder, one diesel and one petrol will be soon found at the Macan’s engine site and will also make its way to India some time in 2014.

Needless to say, what catches our attention is the fuel-cell technology. This fuel-cell propulsion technology is still being debated but does that mean carmakers will be waiting for the wind to die down? No. Hyundai, has begun its march and has teased the Intrado concept which is equipped with a hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain. The concept car will be exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show next year in March.
