Peugeot had finalised Gujarat to be the home for its Indian plant.  Today, the Board Members of PSA Motors India performed the bhoomi poojan and the ground-breaking ceremony.

This year’s Frankfurt Motor Show became the venue for the debut of a limited edition Peugeot 508 RXH. Deliveries for the car, which will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, will start from March 2012 in Europe.

On the auspicious occasion of the Ganesh Chaturthi, The Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Narenda Modi, and Mr. Philippe Varin, Chairman of the Managing Board of PSA Peugeot Citroën, presided over a ceremony to mark the signature of a SSA between Peugeot and the State of Gujarat.

PSA Peugeot Citroen will be setting up its new plant in Chennai. Chennai is already the home of Ford, Hyundai, BMW and Renault-Nissan factories. PSA will kick off with Peugeot models especially the 508 sedan and will make India as their exporting hub.

Peugeot plans to launch at least one new model per year in China in the coming years, reinforcing its presence in the world’s largest car market. At the Auto Shanghai 2011, Peugeot is launching the Peugeot 508 onto the Chinese market and showcasing a new cutting edge concept car, 100% designed in China – the SXC.

The French car major Peugeot Citroen announced its plan of re-entering the Indian car market. The company plans to bring a mid-sized sedan and eyes Andhra Pradesh to set up its operations. The company had earlier entered into a partnership with the Premier group or PAL India as it was known,in 1995 but the Joint Venture soon hit rock bottom in 2001.

Michelin's participation in the 78th running of the world's most famous endurance race will feature an all-new range of eco-friendly tyres. In addition, Michelin will organise, for the second time, the “Michelin Green X Challenge” which has now become an integral part of the regulations that govern the discipline.

Premier has launched a compact SUV named 'Rio', with a price range of Rs 5.25-6 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). The Rio is powered by a 1489cc turbodiesel engine developed with Puegeot's TUD5 technology producing a maximum power of 64bhp@4000rpm and 152Nm@2250-3000rpm. The engine fulfills the Bharat Stage III norms and the company claims the fuel efficiency to be 16kpl.

Premier will launch a compact SUV on the 28th of October, 2009. This will mark Premier's comeback in the passenger car segment after many years. The last passenger cars which Premier sold in India were the Fiat range  - the Uno and Siena, after which Fiat set up its current base in Ranjangaon and parted from Premier.

Luca Rossetti and Matteo Chiarcossi, in a Grande Punto Abarth S2000, finished third at the 45th Rally del Friuli e delle Alpi Orientali, Round Seven of the Italian Rally Championship.
