We are glad to announce winners of CarWale Awards 2009. The 2nd edition of India's only consumer choice car awards has received 1,58,220 votes across seven categories. The voting for the awards was on during 1st Feb 2009 and 1st April 2009. Apart from these seven categories, there were three additional categories in which winners were chosen by CarWale editorial team. The awards voting process and results are audited by A.C. Nielsen. Truth is certainly stranger than fiction. Officials from the Mumbai Traffic Police have rubbished media reports that yesterday stated a ban on playing music in cars.

The Mumbai police have banned the use of car audio systems while driving under Section 190 (2) of the Motor Vehicles Act. The fine is Rs 500 for offenders that are caught.
