Fiat will launch the new Punto Evo for the Indian market on August 8. The car is the facelifted version of the Punto hatchback and gets cosmetic changes setting it apart from the outgoing car.

The launch of the Range Rover Sport SVR is still some time away. The high-performance SUV, in fact, will hit the showrooms in 2015; however, it is already in the news, and for a very good reason. According to Land Rover, the Range Rover Sport SVR has lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany in 8 minutes 14 seconds, making it the fastest production SUV around the challenging 20.8 kilometre-long circuit.
Honda is believed to be working on a compact SUV and an A-segment car for the Indian market according to a report from the Economic Times. Both the vehicles are likely to be sub-four metres in length and will have petrol and diesel engine options.
When BMW launched the X6 back in 2009, it created a new breed of SUV altogether and went on to become quite a sales success. With the recently introduced X4, the brand has followed a similar route but with a smaller package. Going even further, BMW is now developing a new sporty crossover based on the X1 which is the most affordable model from the company’s X range of vehicles.
A new batch of spy shots of the next-generation Hyundai i20, which seems to be clicked in the company’s yard, has emerged. The completely undisguised car sports a ochre yellow paint scheme, similar to the one used in the new Fiat Punto Evo, and shows off the car’s refreshing new lines which have been modeled in keeping with the ‘Fluidic’ design philosophy.
It seems like the electric turbocharger will be the technology of future for premium carmakers. Ferrari is the latest to join the bandwagon if the rumours turn out to be true. According to sources the Italian sport carmaker is said to be working on an engine that will be supercharged and will also get an electric turbocharger.
Audi will put its electric turbocharging system into production on a high performance version of the Q7 which will be christened SQ7. The new Q7 might hit the international market by 2015 and this new technology equipped SQ7 will follow its launch.
Mahindra Adventure has successfully concluded the 112th edition of the Great Escape that was held in Lonavala. More than 80 4WD Mahindra vehicles participated in this event. This Great Escape marked the start of the monsoon off-road season as Mahindra customers from Lonavala, Mumbai, Pune and other neighbouring areas participated in the event.
Volvo is planning to introduce its new Drive-E engine in the S60 sedan and the XC60 SUV for the Indian market. Reports suggest that Volvo has already launched the engine in the D4 variants of both the cars in India, though there isn’t any official confirmation from the company as of yet.
Finally some good news for the masses and petrol heads alike. There will be a drop in the price of petrol and it could be to the tune of Re 1 per litre. A drop of Re 1 is considerable by what has been the trend of late and since April we haven’t seen such a significant drop.
