Mahindra and Renault decided last year to call it a day as regards their Joint Venture and the future of the Logan was under threat. But the guys at Mahindra are planning to give the Logan another chance in the Indian car market. Of course, the logo at the front will be done away with but will we get to see any other changes in the car?

Renault will bring out its first offering in the Indian car market in the form of its sedan - Fluence. The sedan is  is based on the Renault/Nissan C platform platform and is sized between the compact family saloon C-segment and the upper-medium segment. Renault made its intentions clear when they unveiled its 18-24 month road map which will see the Fluence being launched by mid 2011. The Fluence is a D-segment sedan that will be manufactured at the new Renault-Nissan greenfield manufacturing facility in Chennai.

Auto Mall 2010, a 5 days automobile extravaganza, was inaugurated at the Gurgaon Shopping Festival, at Leisure Valley, Sec-29, Gurgaon. It is scheduled from the 6th to the 10th October, 2010. Auto Mall 2010 is slated to be full of action and entertainment. It is hosting some of the best national and international automotive brands in the country along with related products and services.

The Mahindra-Renault Joint Venture came to an end earlier this year. The Joint Venture, 51% owned by Mahindra & Mahindra and 49% by Renault, has till date launched only one vehicle, the Mahindra-Renault Logan. The state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Nashik in Maharashtra too was a product of this partnership. The sedan attracted some attention but the sales figures showed otherwise. Its sales plummeted the last fiscal year. Consequently, the JV lost about Rs. 5 billion during that fiscal year.

Mahindra and Renault today announced the restructuring plans for their 51:49 JV, Mahindra Renault Pvt Ltd, through which the Logan car is manufactured.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.) today announced that its domestic auto sales for the month of November 2009 stand at 21387 units (which includes Utility Vehicle, three wheelers and Logan), as against 10430 units in November 2008, an increase of 105.1%.

Mahindra-Renault this time has launched the sporty version of its Logan known as the Logan Play. The car only features cosmetic changes with no changes made to its engine. The Logan Play will be available with 1.4-litre Petrol and 1.5-litre Diesel engines variant. the petrol variant is available for Rs 5,41,850 and the diesel for Rs 6,68,649 (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

Renault has launched the new variant of its Logan named as the Logan Edge Connect. The new Logan Edge Connect will sport a new music system along with a Bluetooth integrated handsfree kit.
