Since the disclosure of the pricing of the Jazz, everyone just has one question, is the Honda hatchback worth its price? Anyone will think twice before purchasing a hatchback that has an engine which displaces 1,200cc, generates 90 horses and is worth Rs 7.43 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai)? 

Honda has launched its first hatchback in India called the Jazz. The basic version costs Rs 6.98lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

With the growing competition in the Indian car market, the 1.2 litre car market now has a neck tight competition. Most of the manufacturers have a model in this range, but with hardly any price variation.

Honda Siel Cars India will launch the Jazz in India with a 1.2 L i-VTEC engine, developed for the Indian Market. The new powertrain is a four - cylinder, 1198 cc engine featuring Programmed Fuel Injection delivering a power of 89bhp @ 6,200 rpm and Torque of 110 Nm (11.2 kg-m) @ 4800 rpm while returning a fuel economy of 16.1 km/l as per ARAI test data. In line with Honda’s mission to reduce its environmental footprint, the new engine has Euro IV emission levels. 

Update: Honda Jazz is launched now! Honda Jazz will hit the Indian streets by the 10th of this June. The car could cost around Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) making it the most expensive hatch available in the Indian market.

Update: Honda Jazz is launched now! Honda will enter the premium hatchback segment of the Indian car market with its Jazz. The Jazz will be powered with a 1.2 litre petrol engine. The front snout of the Jazz reminds of the previous model of the Honda City sold till 2008.

Honda is expected to launch the Jazz by mid-2009. The Japanese manufacturer will launch its first hatchback for the Indian auto market.
