Tata Motors grew by 12% in 2011

The Tata Motors Group global wholesale figures including Jaguar Land Rover, were 114,920units in December 2011 which higher by 27% on a Y-o-Y basis. The cumulative sales for the fiscal are 865,400units higher by 12% compared to the corresponding period in 2010-11. The global sales of all commercial vehicles – Tata, Tata Daewoo and the Tata Hispano Carrocera range - were 53,854units in December 2011, a growth of 12%. Cumulative sales for the fiscal are 425,264 nos., a growth of 17%.

Jaguar XKR-S wins the Auto Bild Sportscars award

The Jaguar XKR-S has been awarded the title of '2011 Sports Car of the Year' by the respected German motoring magazine, Auto Bild Sportscars, following a poll of more than 70,000 of its readers. The XKR-S - the most powerful production car Jaguar has built - competed in the 'Production Sports Car Coupes' category, where it took 14.3 per cent of all votes, ahead of the Mercedes C63 AMG and Audi RS5 in their home market.

Jaguar XKR-S Convertible debuts at LA Auto Show

The Jaguar the XKR-S – is now joined by the convertible version that will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The XKR-S gets the same 5.0-litre supercharged AJ-V8 engine, which produces 550bhp of power and 680Nm of torque. These figures represent a power increase of 8 percent and torque increase of 9 percent over the Jaguar XKR. Driving the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox with Active Differential, this propels the XKR-S Convertible to 100kmph in 4.4 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 300kmph.

Jaguar introduces Speed and Sport Packs on XJ

Jaguar's flagship model - the XJ saloon - is now available with an optional Sport and Speed Pack. The Speed and Sport packs are available throughout the XJ range and compromise of a number of exterior and interior design options. Externally, the appearance of the XJ has been made even more aerodynamic with the addition of optimised changes to the bodywork and these packs also get a different set of sporty alloys. The interiors have undergone a change as well and the front seats in these cars are Jaguar's Performance version and they have the active ventilation which heats or chills them as per the requirement.

Narain Karthikeyan to drive the Jaguar XKR at the Buddh Circuit

JLR supports Elephant Conservation Project

Jaguar Land Rover sponsored the 'Emeralds for Elephants' initiative which culminated in a jewellery auction to raise funds for elephant conservation in India. The auction was conducted to raise funds to establish a wild life corridor so that elephants can follow migratory routes and minimise human elephant conflict.

Jaguar C-X16 likely to be the new E-Type

Jaguar C-X16, a hybrid marks a new chapter for Jaguar. It gets a new supercharged V6 petrol engine producing 380 PS (280kW) and 332 lb ft (450 Nm) of torque. Already boasting a specific power output of 126 bhp-per-litre, the performance of the C-X16 is supplemented by a Formula 1-inspired hybrid boost system with a steering-wheel mounted button for on-demand acceleration. Integrated into the eight-speed gearbox is a motor generator which draws power from a 1.6kWh battery pack mounted behind the seats for ideal 50:50 weight distribution. Charged through a brake energy regeneration system, the batteries allow the motor to provide an additional 95 PS (70 kW) and173 lb ft (235 Nm).
