Honda Siel Cars India announced an investment of Rs. 250 crore in its Tapukara Plant in Rajasthan for the expansion of the power train facility. The power train facility, currently under construction, will be completed by the end of 2010 and will be utilized to manufacture engine & transmission components such as Cylinder Head and Cylinder Block – which were till now being imported from Indonesia and Thailand. The Tapukara plant currently produces Crankshaft and Connecting rods for its Greater Noida plant and for export purposes.

The first production Ford Figo was rolled off the Chennai assembly line, today. Also, present was Chief Minister of the State of Tamil Nadu D. M Karunanidi.

The investment was led by Sierra Ventures, a Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm with more than $1.5 billion under management and a successful track record of investing in technology companies in India. This funding will be used to fuel CarWale’s growth strategy including expanding sales distribution, increasing marketing efforts, and continuing investment in product activities.
