Hyundai is ramping up the production of the diesel variants of Verna and i20 to cater to the increasing demand and cut down the waiting time for these models.

The on-going battle between the Honda City and Volkswagen Vento isn't just getting fierce by the day, but now there is even a third contender - the new Hyundai Verna. This year so far, Honda has sold 17,672 units of the City and Volkswagen isn't far behind as the German's number for 2011 so far is 17,555 units. 

Hyundai Motor India Ltd continued to grow with cumulative sales growing by 13.6% for the month of June, 2011.HMIL’s total sales for June, 2011 stood at 52,531 units as against 46,253 units in June, 2010 registering a cumulative growth of 13.6%. The domestic sales accounted for 30,402 units as against 27,366 units in June, 2010 registering growth of 11.1%  while the exports grew by 17.2% from 18,887 units in June, 2010 to 22,129 units in June, 2011.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) had launched the new Verna in May this year. The new Verna has received an overwhelming response from the customers since its launch and has already clocked over 20,000 bookings pan India. Commenting on this, Arvind Saxena, Director - Marketing and Sales, HMIL, said, “We are pleased to receive an overwhelming response for the new Verna from our customers. In order to cater the strong demand, we are trying to increase the production to help us reduce the waiting period and clear the backlog of bookings at the earliest.”

Priced between Rs. 699,000 and Rs. 1,074,500, the all-new Verna was launched by Hyundai Motor India in Delhi today. There are two petrol variants and two diesel variants with manual and automatic transmission providing a substantial range on offer.

Hyundai has already charted its course for the next three years in India. The company plans to bring six new cars into the country and the competition is certainly heating up. We recently drove the all-new Hyundai Verna and noticed that its refreshing new looks sets it apart from its predecessors.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), will soon be setting up a greenfield plant in India. The company will be spending Rs. 400 crore for this very purpose. This plant will be utilised to build 1.5 lakh diesel engines. Though the plants' location is not finalised as of now,  the company will be looking at expanding its reach throughout the country.

Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) played host to a limited audience for a visit to their plant in Chennai. The ride from the airport to the plant was estimated to be around an hour and a half. We passed the roads of a state where politics was defined by a demigod named Karunanidhi and regional films boasted of a God named Rajnikanth. With posters pasted on either side of the road which lead to the plant, the beginning of the hour long journey already looked interesting. The Hyundai H1 that we were travelling gave the word ‘comfort’, a whole new meaning and the somewhat long journey was a breeze.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd., showcased the Etios which turned out to be a headturner at the Auto Expo held in New Delhi in January 2010. While the car was not a production model, people at the Expo got a fairly clear picture of what the car would look like once it arrived and now Toyota Kirloskar Motors is all set to unveil the Etios on the 1st of December this year.

Skoda Auto India will soon be launching a sedan, for the time being named as SK215, somewhere in the last quarter of 2011. Skodas latest offering was the facelifted Fabia and later on this year the Yeti too will find a place in the SUV segment. The SK215 is a sedan and will be based on the Fabia platform.
