Nissan India Launches the Micra Diesel. Pricing begins at 5.85 lakhs

Nissan India today launched their latest offering, the Micra diesel. The diesel version of the car was always on the cards and now that it is finally out, the competition in the segment just got tougher. Bookings for the Micra have already started (read earlier post) and people are flocking to the nearest Nissan dealership to book their diesel hatches. There is no change in the design of the car and it is identical to its petrol sibling. The Diesel variant will be available in two trims – the Micra XV and the XV Premium. The prices of which are 5.85 lakh and 6.33 lakh respectively (ex-showroom Mumbai)

Renault to Launch its cars in 2011

After announcing its intention to make an independent foray in the Indian market, we will soon be able to see Renault launching its cars into the Indian car market. Mr. Marc Nassif, MD of Renault India said, "Since April this year, we have moved very fast in getting our product plans in place. We are ahead of plan on selecting and appointing dealers and are on track to meet the challenging targets that we have set for ourselves in India and to ensure that we live up to the brand promise that Renault will bring to its Indian customers."

Volkswagen India starts Production of the Vento from its Pune Plant

Volkswagen India began production of its mid-sized sedan, the Volkswagen Vento last evening at its plant in Chakan near Pune. Vento is the first car from the Volkswagen brand which will be exclusively manufactured in India. The time-frame leading up to the official start of production of the Volkswagen Vento is unusual as it is only a year since the Volkswagen plant at Chakan started production.

Nissan Micra To Be Launched on 14th July. Bookings Cross Over 1000 in 4 Weeks

Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) on Tuesday announced that the pre-order bookings of the Nissan Micra, which will be officially launched nationwide on July 14, 2010,  has crossed 1000 in just four weeks since the company showrooms started accepting bookings from the last week of May 2010.

Ford Joins the Hatchback Race; Prices Figo at Rs 3.6lakh

Touring Bentley Continental Flying Star Makes a Debut at Geneva 2010

Nissan Recalls 540000 Vehicles Due Brake Pedal and Faulty Fuel Gauge

Just when you thought the recalling season was over another Japanese carmaker breaks the news. Nissan has now recalled 5400000 vehicles for problem in braking pedal and fuel gauges. Nissan is recalling 540,000 pickup trucks, sport utility vehicles and minivans, most of them in the US. Titan, Armada, Quest and Infiniti QX56 vehicles built between 2008 and 2010 are affected by the recall.

Volvo Will Never Get Phasing Out Cars to India

In an exclusive interview to CarWale.com, Paul de Voijs, managing director, Volvo Auto India talks about the silent existence of the brand and its dynamic future plans Volvo has been present in India for some time now but still the brand remains unknown to many? Volvo Auto is relatively still new to the market. Although, we had a Ford backing, Volvo always took its own decisions. We opened our first dealership in March 2008 in Chandigarh which makes us a very young player in the market and there is a strong reason why we haven’t made much noise in the Indian market till today. For any company to become a brand takes some time. Volvo might be a reckoned name outside India but here one has to start from scratch. We did not want to come to India and launch an ‘x’ amount of cars; idea was to go at a slower pace and make people get used to the brand. Exploding into the market with too much hype didn’t make sense to us. This is probably one of the reasons why people are not much aware about Volvo cars in India but we are now increasing the marketing and branding activities for the cars in India.
