GM India's Halol Plant bags National Safety Award

General Motors India has won the prestigious National Safety Awards 2011, for its various safety initiatives and programmes undertaken by the company at its manufacturing facility at Halol. This is the third consecutive win in a row that validates the automaker’s continued commitment for implementing the highest safety standards. The company’s Halol plant has been selected for its best safety systems under the category of ‘Low Incident Rate’ & Runners Up in the ‘Highest Safe Manhours’ (Manufacturer of Motor Vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers).

GM India gets a new MD

Lowell Paddock has been appointed as the new President and Managing Director of General Motors India, effective from next year. He will succeed Karl Slym, who moves to GM's largest operations in China as Executive Vice President of SAIC and Wuling Motors, that manufactures mini-commercial vehicles and passenger cars.

GM showcases the electric version of the Beat

General Motors India today showcased the Chevrolet Beat Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) as part of the ongoing celebrations of World Environment Day. The demonstration vehicle will be used by GM India to showcase the effectiveness of battery electric vehicle technology in India.  GM India engineers will also use the vehicle to address potential cost savings to help make BEVs more affordable for global customers.

General Motors registers a marginal growth of 1.3% this May

Chevrolet to Launch Beat Diesel in April

After GM India launched the Beat LPG on the 11th of this month, they are all set to launch the Beat Diesel the coming April. Karl Slym, President & Maniging Director, GM India, said, ' The diesel version of the Beat will be launched a couple of months from now and the same technology used in the locally developed Smartech engine, will be used to power the diesel variant. The only thing I would say now that it will be a 1-litre engine.'

Beside the company's Smartech engine, the all new Beat LPG will come with Advanced Multipoint Sequential LPG Injection Technology type kit as compared to the Venturi-type kit currently in use. The advanced LPG kit ensures a hassle-free transition from petrol to LPG and back.

The Beat LPG will be launched soon and it will be the recipient of General Motors' new locally designed and developed Smartech engine. The LPG Beat comes with Advanced Multipoint Sequential LPG Injection Technology type kit as compared to the Venturi-type kit currently in use. This new version is aimed to overlap the limitations of the Venturi kit like no power loss, no jerks and backfires which means smoother hassle-free transition from petrol to LPG and back and loss of cabin space because of the LPG kit.
