GM launches Safety Drive in Bangalore

General Motors India in association with Bangalore Traffic Police launched its ‘Chevrolet Safety Drive’ initiative to promote road safety and safe driving in garden city of Bengaluru. The initiative aims to spread awareness about traffic rules, driving habits and safety features in vehicles that can make a difference in preventing accidents on roads.

GM India's Halol Plant bags National Safety Award

General Motors India has won the prestigious National Safety Awards 2011, for its various safety initiatives and programmes undertaken by the company at its manufacturing facility at Halol. This is the third consecutive win in a row that validates the automaker’s continued commitment for implementing the highest safety standards. The company’s Halol plant has been selected for its best safety systems under the category of ‘Low Incident Rate’ & Runners Up in the ‘Highest Safe Manhours’ (Manufacturer of Motor Vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers).

GM India gets a new MD

Lowell Paddock has been appointed as the new President and Managing Director of General Motors India, effective from next year. He will succeed Karl Slym, who moves to GM's largest operations in China as Executive Vice President of SAIC and Wuling Motors, that manufactures mini-commercial vehicles and passenger cars.

General Motors sales remain stable

General Motors India sold 10,062 units in October 2011 as against 10,051 units during the corresponding period last year. The October 2011 sales were driven by the overwhelming response received by Chevrolet Beat Diesel. Chevrolet Beat has been one of the top performers for GM India this month registering record sales of 5328 units.

General Motors registers a marginal growth of 1.3% this May

Chevrolet to Launch Beat Diesel in April

After GM India launched the Beat LPG on the 11th of this month, they are all set to launch the Beat Diesel the coming April. Karl Slym, President & Maniging Director, GM India, said, ' The diesel version of the Beat will be launched a couple of months from now and the same technology used in the locally developed Smartech engine, will be used to power the diesel variant. The only thing I would say now that it will be a 1-litre engine.'

GM's successful run in the Automtive Sector Continues

General Motors India has registered a growth of 6% in sales in January 2011, compared to the corresponding period last year. It sold 9984 units in January 2011 against 9421 units in January 2010. Second to Ford India in terms of sales the company will definitely be all charged up to hit the 10,000 mark in the coming months.

General Motors to Launch 6 Cars in Two Years

General Motors India Ltd. will be introducing six new cars in the next two years in India. The company is converting their Halol facility in Gujarat to a commercial vehicle production hub from 85,000units to 1Lakh units, and are shifting all car production to Talegaon. These six new launches will come in a total of 14 fuel variants, which means that General Motors is betting big on diesel and alternate fuel for their new products. We can look forward to the Beat LPG and the  Diesel this year.
