The Ford Figo (read road test)was selected as Indian Car of the Year 2011 today, earning the country’s top automotive award in the fiercely competitive and rapidly growing Indian market. Michael Boneham, president and managing director, Ford India, accepted the award from Dr. R.P. Singhania, vice chairman and managing director, JK Tyre & Industries, at a ceremony in Mumbai today. Update: Ford Figo is launched now! Ford India has just announced and given the world at large a preview of the upcoming Ford Figo which should be launched early next year. The Figo is part of Fords 'One Vision' and 'One Team' and 'One World' project.

Ford’s manufacturing facility near Chennai is readying for volume production of its soon-to-be-introduced new car after a comprehensive transformation to double its capacity and become a strategic production hub for Ford Motor Company.

Ford has plans to get a new small car for the Indian car market in early 2010. About 85% of the car parts are localized. Ford India has designed this car especially for the Indian car market and it will be available in petrol and diesel variants.
